Had to learn relaxation the hard way. Ran the easiest 400 Pr of my career in the semi finals of my junior nationals, 47.7. In the final tightened up way too much thinking i would run faster if i tried harder. Got chased down and go silver by 0.1

Hey Andy, i have a question I've been relaxing a little too much that i stop caring about what happens and my body doesn't respond as well as it would if i was excited.
Yesterday while training i was by myself and a lot of people watching me and i kinda got excited and my heart beat i could feel it without touching my chest and i ran a pb. So my question is how do i raise my heartbeat like this willingly?

A couple of corrections. You don't run a pb in training. A pb is only achieved in an official race. Against others and when the nerves are up. Plus I d like to know how "your body doesn't respond as well". Are you in the hear and now when you do it? Are you doing relaxation correctly?
But regardless, there is a positive thing that you re doing. Getting "excited" is a positive energy and in a sense relaxation. It's called eustress. You re using the nervous energy in the right way. How do you raise it willingly? You use whatever thing that got you excited in the first place. You re obviously like the attention and so you use that energy in your racing. The race is your stage to shine in front of people. So use it. Warholm does this.

@@RelaxedSprinting thanks for the reply and the insight bro. About your question- yes i am completely in the here and now , so much that i get detached from my body , my mind and any outcome and that in turn relaxes me too much that my body starts to cool down.
