    Yeah I agree Uworld is a must have, I would rather have overly detailed than not detailed enough when it comes to rationality, I’m not complaining about learning how to answer more advanced questions either, not only do they stimulate the thought process, but they reinforce more basic concepts usually. Thanks for posting It’s good to hear your educated opinion!

    • @TheNCLEXTutor
      @TheNCLEXTutor  Před 2 lety +3

      Uworld is definitely a great resource to use. After doing all the questions, I can recommend to my students with confidence. At the end of the rationale, there's usually a shorter rationale to read for those that got it right and just need a quick review.

    Such a great post! I wish I had found you before I started studying. Not knowing any better, I started doing the questions immediately. Felt frustrated so bought Saunders to review content like you suggested. I really appreciate you explaining the scoring too. That calmed my nerves. Thank you!

    Guys - invest in Justine's nugget book. I bought it this year and starting to do UWorld. I went back to watch this video and I wish I would have brushed off on content more and Justine's book before I did 100+ of UWorld questions. I am changing my strategy to go over and understand the book (not just memorize it) and then go back to Uworld questions. Yikes, hopefully I'll have time since my test is in sometime in June. Highly recommend it to buy her book!

      Ahhh! Thank you! When you are doing the Uworld questions, I want you to think of yourself as a brand new nurse and to choose SAFE answers! And for the SATA: if any answers seem very similar you can either keep both of those or get rid of both of the similar answers. Best wishes!

    Be been using UWORLD for 3 months, my school gave it to us free. I like the interface, and the reinforcement. As far as the rationale it’s definitely verbose and super detailed which can be a little annoying during note taking but it’s somewhat needed I think for people like me who’s brain half works the time😹

    • @TheNCLEXTutor
      @TheNCLEXTutor  Před 2 lety +4

      Overall, I like Uworld. I would recommend that you write down what you got wrong from the question, not review every little thing. There's usually a shorter rationale down at the bottom of every question.

    That was a really awesome and informative review! That distinction between questions based on the medical model versus the nursing model is key. That’s a very helpful perspective to have in order to better understand the potential shortcomings or variations on Uworld versus NCLEX questions and rationales. Thank you!

    Unfortunately, the stuff that are so called common and I studied didn’t show up in NCLEX. I had a lot of medications I never encountered before. I also had some diseases/syndrome that I never heard before. I basically guessed my answers. Thanks God I passed. Now I know for a fact that NCLEX is not always about studying the most common stuff because that’s not the case for me and some people I know. I basically just used safety, critical thinking, common sense and strategies since majority of what I had were not the ones I studied

    • @TheNCLEXTutor
      @TheNCLEXTutor  Před rokem

      Hi E.H. - you are right that you can get questions about things that you don't think are common, so you need strategies to also help you with the answers. However, you still need to know the common stuff since that is what you'll encounter in the hospital and to be a safe nurse.

    • @e.h.1117
      @e.h.1117 Před rokem

      @@TheNCLEXTutor thanks and I agree about being a safe nurse at the hospital. But I think people who needs to take the test, if they work at the hospital-what they see at work can messed up their understanding because they tend to incorporate what they saw at the hospital vs what the nclex reviews told us. For instance, in NCLEX world, you cannot give beta blockers to COPD/Asthma pt but at the hospital, u will see that they do give it in pt with COPD exacerbation and they will tell u they give it because of benefits outweigh the risks. Another example I think is giving oxygen to COPD pt-that we cannot give high Oxygen because COPD pt will forget to breath but at the hospital when the pt shows signs that they tank, u call rapid response and they put an order of high O2 for copd pt. I am glad I started working last month at the hospital. I was able to compare how nclex perfect world works vs the hospital.

    • @TheNCLEXTutor
      @TheNCLEXTutor  Před rokem +1

      For the NCLEX purposes, you can still give beta blocker to those with COPD or asthma, the question would just be worded as "which med would you use caution for a client with COPD?" The rationale shouldn't say it's not given. Also with COPD, the content for the NCLEX is the same, that you can give higher O2 with low oxygen reading. If the practice questions says you can't, it's probably because it's an old practice question that should be thrown out. I think the biggest issue with those that already work at the hospital is that they tend to make the questions overly complicated and miss the super simple answers.

    I love UWorld and am using it now for my RN prep. I used it for my LVN as well. The only thing I find so hard are delegation questions for LVN. Saying we can't take vitals because "the UAP should" and saying we can't do things that, in my state, I do all the time because each state has different LVN/PN guidelines. Other than that I enjoy it, especially the pharm questions + priority like you mentioned and EKG questions.

    • @TheNCLEXTutor
      @TheNCLEXTutor  Před 2 lety +1

      If they don't give you a UAP in the question, then just give the LPN the UAP duties. If they do give you a UAP in the question, then only give the LPN the LPN duties. Make sense?

      Saunders is great to use along with my book. Study each system separately and then log into saunders and do questions from that topic. If you do a set of 20 questions and don't get at least 70%, then do another set of Saunders questions. Do that for all the topics. The last week before your test, see what topics you didn't get as high of scores on and go re-study that content. Here's a blog post of last minute topics to review: thenclextutor.com/what-to-study
      I hope that helps!

    • @TheNCLEXTutor
      @TheNCLEXTutor  Před 3 lety

      I think that if you are still in nursing school, use something that asks about more basic things like the Saunders or Lippincott questions - they are still passing level, but basic. If you are not good with the basics, there is no way you will do well with Uworld, which does ask about more obscure things or has obscure answers.
