Excellent video that explain what is actually going on particularly for those who have a concern about urgent high blood pressure to alleviate the stress they feel about having high blood pressure that has peaked as in resistant hypertension. When it won't come down, and you are freaking out about having a stroke. It can help you settle down until the BP can be brought under management actually making you less hypertensive.

Wonderful lecture. I recently had HU and DID NOT go to the ER. I was already on Lopressor and lisinopril was added. 6 hours after my first dose at home my bp was considerably down and has continued close to the normal range. You made it all so easy to understand. Thanks a million.

A doctor sent me to the er just because my blood pressure was 200/100. I told her that I was not having chest pain, sob, difficulty talking. I wasted the doctor,s, nurse time. The doctor at the clinic panic.

concerned as I'm having readings at 160/100 and I'm 20 years old. I'm pretty healthy in most regards, but I do have a very high stress job, very high stress, and usually working at my computer 15 hrs a day, anxiety, not much exercise. But besides this I have a clean lifestyle. not exactly 180/120, but it's usually accompanied by tachycardia with PVCs, very slight-mild disorientation, and very types of chest pain. for instance, that was my reading earlier today. was just sitting at my desk working, typing on a keyboard, that's it. BP started rising (it was already elevated) and the effects hit me, I felt terrible. It felt like if I turned my head just 25' degrees, that my heart would tear in half or explode. it's like if you have a muscle cramp and you know that one place NOT to "hit" otherwise it'll cause excruciating pain - it was like this. Not sure what to do. Already been to ER many other times before I knew what PVCs/palpitations were and I was worried, wasted over like 75k now going to ERs for this stuff.

I get those super high numbers whenever I lie down in a Dentist's Chair ... they do my pressure and say they will be back in a few ... my cue to start breathing, after a couple minutes of relaxation and deep breathing my pressures are normal and we get on with the pain and suffering.

Also, it is very VERY easy to screw up a blood pressure test. Things such as this can make your blood pressure go up
    Stress
    Nicotine
    Caffeine
    Lack of sleep
    Positioning
    Incorrect cuff placement/fitting
    Salt
    And so much more

Thank you. This really helped me understand the confusion in regards to my treatment. I had read in some health charts that 180/120 was a go to the ER immediately number, full stop. I occasionally get numbers in that range (just the top) during high anxiety (which is now centered around my BP). I could for the life of me understand why the ER clinician and my primary care doctor just sent me home with BP medicine and told me to focus on anxiety. I thought that if I’m hitting these numbers throughout the day, then I must be a walking powder keg. I thought the traffic example was particularly helpful to that end.
But it looks like they all did the right thing.

Regarding the suggested diagnostic testing @ 6:43. Other than an EKG and urine dipstick, I wouldn't have access to any of these to assess whether or not there is evidence of end organ damage if I'm in a stand alone urgent care/primary care office. Sure I can send them out, but that doesn't help me in the management of the BP in this acute setting. Do you assume they are without end organ damage if they are asymptomatic and have benign physical exam? Otherwise you'd have to send them to the ED just to order these labs/imaging studies, which is the opposite the title of this video.

Woke up today. BP 190/130. Took 10 mg. Alt ace. Ramipril. And 100 mg metoprolol. And. Small .25 of xanax. For possible panic. No change in bp. Went to urgent care. After 2 hours. BP 180/125.
Sent me to er. No organ damage. . 5 hours later. Bp Started to come down. Discharged with bp 160/101. Prescribed
    Clonidine. This all happened today.
Not sure . Why. But my bp is high. And I've doubled my meds .
I'm 59. Male. 5' 11" 170 lbs In shape. No Smoking no alchohol no bad food. 3 hours at gym daily.
Why would my BP spike. Nobody knows
    It stays around 160 / 100.
    No answers. Just more meds.

Please be careful with clonidine, as stopping this medicine will cause rebound hypertension that can put you at even more risk for end organ damage.

Ok. I have not started clonidine. I'm currently doubling the alt ace 10 mg. And metoprolol to 100 mg. I wake up with 165 /100. And can bring it down. To 140 over 88 with. Those meds. I'm not eating bad. I'm not overweight and. I'm exercising. So I have no idea. Why bp. Is high.

Request an abdominal ultrasound, more specifically a Kidney doppler ultrasound. As you are coming of age, there might be a blood vessel narrowing from the kidneys to the aorta, and that can most definitely cause unexplained high blood pressure.

If I find out I have a narrowing blood vessel from kidney. Can anything be done about it. Or do you just live with it.

      @valentinlorincz6769 Před 4 lety +1

RILEY (SlotDog) PLAYS SLOTS (He's a dog) if they confirm that the high blood pressure is indeed caused by renal artery stenosis, or at least the narrowing is a contributing factor to the high numbers, then a stent placement might be a good idea, especially if the hypertension is medicine resistant. Wish you the best

There are different types of Aortic Dissection, I've inherited the rarest kind, No Collagen, within the Aorta. The same that killed my Father and Grandfather. My father went through a Surgery, and 72 Pints, YES, 72 PINTS of Blood, and he ended up being Brain Dead, AFTER his first Surgery! My Doctor, knows, not to let anyone touch me, because I've inherited the same disease!

If you have no way to check, it doesn’t hurt to go see a doctor. If you do have a way to check, if you have NO SYMTPOMS along with stage 3 hypertension, again just make an appointment, more than likely you will be perfectly fine, as stated in the video actual hypertensive emergencies are rare
