His family wasn't always poor. Things went bad 15 years ago when his father disappeared without a trace. That tragedy brought him down! His mom worked extremely hard and late hours, so he decided to help her. Over time, he found himself at cooking school and started to work as a waiter. But one day, another tragedy came to their family. His younger sister needs costly kidney surgery urgently!

My grandpa gave my grandmother a choice back in the 1950s. He would either give her a bad boy stereo system or a nice ring for the engagement gift. We still have the stereo and it still can rock the whole house

Nick is better off without Kate in the first place,as it's very clear that she doesn't value his love 💖 as she is a spoil, shallow, selfish girl who only cared about herself and her needs more than her ex boyfriend concern for his family. Well I'm glad Nick end up with Lilly in the end because she's Kind, caring, compassion, listen, appreciate and love💖 Nick for the person he is on the inside and doesn't take him for granted unlike Kate.

Wow she got some nerve there. She wasnt willing to stay by his side during his struggles. But then show up pregnant by some rich man and expects him to take care of her and someone else's child. No shame at all
Except that Nick never took Kate back. He mentions that he had moved on to a better woman in Lilly who was with him during his struggles, but he's not going to be as cruel as she was to him. Nick only can offer Kate a job in order to teach her how to provide for her kid on her own.
Nick tried everything for Kate but her it was never enough. All Kate cared about was herself and now she wanted Nick back but it was too late because he found someone better.
Kate was lucky that Nick was willing to give her a job being that he’s not vindictive
It's not about the ring, it's about the honesty, trust, and love you put into buying it for the proposal. It's about the hours of paperwork and working very hard to show your love to her. It's not about the wedding and how many people show up, it's about the people getting married and how you enjoy it. Remember, it's not about the money, it's about where that money comes from. Men work their butts off to even get a real diamond ring let along another type of stone. Even those are expensive. Be grateful for what you're given, it's the thought that counts.

It is a major red flag that Kate is a gold digger when she cares more about owning a big rock than saving your sister's life.

Nick should've told Kate off that his sister needs the surgery and if she's unwilling to support it, then she should leave. Let her know that life isn't always about her and she'll have to learn to get a job like everyone else.

The audacity of that woman to return to nick after she's knocked up and used up by the rich guy, ugh no shame she was already messing with this guy while she was still dating Nick only thing she loved was money, she came back to Nick because he was plan B and nothing more, I'm glad he found himself a great woman that loves and appreciate him for him and nothing else.
