- After failing recent MOT test I had to get this done but it would have cost me £260, instead I have paid £15 to the part I needed and I have solved problem myself,
I am hoping this video could do some good for other viewers, link for part is below,
This is the link from ebay, it is up to you from which seller you will purchase but link direct you to what you will need to purchase for this repair

Same problem yesterday for me 😅thanks for ur videos..I have 2 megane mk 2&3.i need to sort out now mine.mot run out next week 😂😂😂280£ for fix my wage for 1month 😅😅😅stay safe sir..cheers 🏴
Your English is very clear, no problems.
Dude... I have the exact same problem! 😁 Amazing video! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏻
Fantastic video. Mine is a clio from the same year as your Megane therefore it was quiet similar procedure. Saved me a lot of ££££. Thank you so much!!! And for those who look the issue, if plugged the OBD it comes with error B1002.
Excellent video. Few things have to be mentioned though (some have been mentioned before):
* mark steering wheel screw position with a pen, so you can screw it back to the same torque
* don't unscrew the whole thing, only two stalk covers (each cover has two screws) on clockspring side and audio stalk screw
* when replacing the clockspring part, go slow and make sure two rows of pins align with appropriate holes on the receiver
* on the other side of the receiver you have to push away metal spring that contacts pins coming though holes
* when screwing back stalk covers, make sure not to screw them too tight, or your stalks will be harder to move, and the turn signal stalk may not turn off at all, when steering
* I suggest going on a test drive before you put the final covers on, so you can fine tune the screws, if needed
Finally, I wonder how long will this cheap Chinese part last? I doesn't seem to be of good quality. Sometimes I can hear ribbon cable rubbing against itself when turning steering wheel. Maybe I should spray some silicon oil in the ribbon cable compartment?
Big thank you buddy 👍 wouldn’t have been able to change mine today without this video ♥️♥️♥️
very glad, it has been useful to you....👍
Excellent video Thank you so much. Only thing i would add is i had difficulty with was getting the inner part of steering wheel off. so whilst poking small screwdriver or allen key through the small hole at the back of the wheel to diissengage the inner spring bracket i also banged the inner part of the steering wheel down or up to release it
Fantastic! This is exactly the video I need. Thank you so much.
Unfortunately this video is NOT mentioning the marking of the steering wheel position before dismantling the main star screw and this will make it difficult to re align it on completion .
Perfect.Just one thing to add : You only need to unscrew the Torx screws on the clockspring side, the stalk side doesn't need to be unscrewed. Clockspring, Remote for the radio is all :)

Thank you for this Tutorial.
It help's me very much to do this Work.
Regart's : Hermann out Germany.
The part is called a clock spring. If you turn the wheel and you hear clicks it means that it is on the way out. The airbag light is the sign you need to change it. I changed two in my Renault Megane 2006 sedan. I didn't do the repair as it looked too detailed so i went to the garage.
Thank you! Mentioning the torx sizes for all the screws would have been nice. I also noticed that the steering wheel alignment was not marked. but if you miss it once, you remember it next time.
i brought the part with new stalks on it already for£50 i will try this
many thanks, great video, my problem solved.
Thank you very much about this video. Its really useful for me.
Your English is great 👍
Thank you so much u saved me
@02:30 WD 40 ... hoping mines that problem Clio MK2 connector under the seat...
Anyone who is doing this. Check that the 7 long pins (5+2) on the back of the new part goes in to correct position. Mine went in wrong and bent everything. I still had the fault until I discovered this problem.
Yea same here!
Good job, thanks for the info, have the same job to do on my clio.
Had the same issue with airbag and service lights. White airbag wire was cuted off.
Thanks very useful! :)
Great job
I love this
Thank you. I bought this part, but the problem is on my car I have 4 connectors and the part came with 5. My connecters are black, black, green and blue. The part came with an extra white connector. Still have the airbag light on.
Same for me! Did u solve it?
@@lasseboos yes, I connected it and the error gone :) the car is now sold anyway :D
You are perfect 👌
Great job! One question. On the new part there is an extra cable that isn’t on the original. Where does this go?
you can cut it off or leave it as is....I left it on ,there is not connection to fit it, I assume it is for some other renault model,(wagon?) ....
LuckyPush cheers mate! Will give it a blast
Hi, i’ve done the rotating contactor replacement 1 time, the speed regulator is working again, but the airbag message is still on, and today i went through the whole installation again, double checked everything all connectors etc. I swear, everylittle things. All the installation is perfect. I even disconnected, cleaned and reconnected the seats connectors. But the airbag message is still on. I don’t understand. A mechanic told me that installation might be fine but i could still have to go through a elec diagnosis with the computer just to remove the alert message. So who do i trust ??
Check your connectors under both front seats, can be under carpet. Undo them and reconnect them. You could also clean them with some CRC spray.
Hey, did you ever solve your problem? I'm having the same issue. Went through the replacement 2 times, checked the connections under both front seats, cleared the error codes and the light is still on...
@@MatevzCesar113 if you want to MOT your vehicule try plugging two 2,2 Ohm resistor on the two connector that are normally plugged on the pilot airbag, and you’ll see the message disapear, but plug it back right after your MOT for safety.
@@MatevzCesar113 but no my problem isn’t solve i will change the airbag someday. That’s the only way. Because the all airbag system is good, the default for me comes from the pilot airbag
@@On3MOr3 Cheers, needed the tip for the MOT. But looks like I'm gonna have to leave this one to the pros for the long term.
What is white warning light that looks like small cloud over two short lines ?
Its the chair moving seat forward
Would you please tell me the name of the part you replaced? Or any link that I can use to order it online. Thx

Hi, sorry to bother you, after watching your video I went ahead to buy the entire steering column switch but my question is what's the size of the torque bit you used for removing the steering wheel?
Hi, it is T50 I have found a link, it is just after doing a quick search, you can find one as you may think it will be right for you,

Awsome video, my steering wheel is clicking when turning, sounds like clock spring is knackered, need to change before mot is up 2weeks?
Mine is clicking the exact same and air bag light is on, did you ever find out what was wrong? Thanks!
If your air bag lamp is on so you will not pass the MOT
It will only go again. just put some resistors in place problem solved
I know this old but did you buy a Renault part or an aftermarket one from eBay?
after market on ebay, good luck...
Hi from Denmark. You got a part-number? Thanks
What is this whole part called ?
Where did you get the part from and what's it called
renault megane Clock Spring Spiral

Thanks
I have this shitty car me too. created a lot of proplems. I have the same problem in the steering wheel and the airbag light is always on. When i bought it, the car didnt have al these problems. Is becoming a nightmare for me.
Damn i put the new part on and now the steering is loose. And stalks not working
Any advice ?
Hi, without known what exactly problem you are having, I just assume and replying you by that, you get the cover open and relocate them white plastic bits in correct position where the arms are, you may need to do it few times till getting them onto position where it is correctly fitted, steering could be loose because of screw is not correctly tighten up, I am afraid I would not know more about loose steering since it did not happen to me, thanks
LuckyPush love you! All done light offf . U saved me £400 my first ever attempt at fixing anything to with my car 😂
god tutoriar..thanks....you engles is all soo god..not like my
Пол машины разобрал, что бы касету снять )
To take off the cables in the first part, i need to disconnect the power battery?
for extra safety it is advisable to remove cables from battery but you don't have to...
Where did you buy that part from
there is a link on there to check it out....
So you don't need a computer to turn the light of a mechanic told me I did
if problem is solved, light will go off right away...if it stays on then problem is still present...
Hi

I have the same shit problem. I can't believe how everyone have this car that part is broken. Fuck Renault. Never again I will buy a Renault
Other cars have a issues too, since newer cars has lot of sensors and electronics and much more plastic
It broke on my bmw x5, so it not just a Renault problem..
Thank you very much about this video. Its really useful for me.
