A shame they don't mention his actual devices, but they include a steam engine (known as an aeolipile) that spun itself from the power of its steam, and a vending machine that dispensed holy water when you put a coin on it. This was all in about 120 AD, when the Roman Empire was still ascendent and the last Pharaoh of Egypt had died less than a couple of hundred years before.
There is an intelligent Movie to be made in English about Hero of Alexandria (Greek Mathematician and Engineer), and this isn't it, indeed.
Hero of Alexandria is remembered for his iconic work on geometry, Metrica, which was lost for many years but was then discovered after 1896.
His most significant contributions include the Heron’s formula to find the area of a triangle, the Hero engine, and a wind-harnessing machine.
