Nigerians never wanna see artists from other countries succeed. Davido, Tems and Burna already won the BET award multiple times. Not one person from any African country complained or said anything about it. We all congratulated and moved on when Burna, Tems and Wizkid won Grammys. Why is it a problem now that an artist from another country is winning?

Eminem has won SEVERAL BET and BET Hip Hop Awards and dominated 106 and Park with the #1 video a few times. To single Tyla out is a bit weird. They've paraded Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Teena Marie all over BET for decades.

Tyla was "singled out" on other platforms, especially after her Breakfast Club interview and other videos with very h8ful africans in the comment sections, so this content creator narrowed it down to the BET awards. I feel odd saying, she does nit associate with the black community. I'm a black south african, and understand why she says she is coloured. Her saying she is black would completely be false in terms of how we grew up and how we view race in South Africa.

Well Nigerians are complaining about Tyla’s success, and the receipts show it. It’s funny that we celebrated when the likes of Tems, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy won Grammys, BET Awards etc but now that a South African is winning it’s become a problem.

Black Americans shouldn't be attacking Tyler. Black Americans think that because she said that she's colored that she doesn't see herself as black. So she's called not " down" with black people anymore is just ridiculous.
She explained in an interview that in South Africa she is colored which means she is someone of mixed race. She is not saying that she isn't black, but she isn't 100% black, she is someone of mixed race because she says that is how the culture and society sees her in South Africa. All Black Americans see is her features and skin color and think that she is just black when she is a combination of different races which makes her "colored" in her country of South Africa.
Stop attacking this girl because she won 2 BET awards. We should be respectful of how she sees herself as an individual and how South African society and the culture sees her.

Tyla is too new to ever say she's better than any of the artists named but I felt like "Water" was a perfect song and a moment in time. So I'm not shocked she got a grammy I'm just upset other equally great songs didn't get awards but there can only be how ever many few that year then that opportunity for the song in question is gone.
The new generation of Black Americans really don't watch BET anymore since the original black owners sold out to "the man". Tyler is alrishe's not on my playlist. I have other that are way more talented female artists that are on my playlist that I listen to. She's not one of them. Coloured is a community of mixed race and racially ambitious people in SA just like the people from the Dominican Republic who also have a group of mixed raced some racially ambitious they say "I'm Dominican no black" so as coloured people in SA they don't refer to themselves as black even though in their lineage there is black ancestry...she also explained she's mixed with Zulu(Black) and Indian she mentioned others I don't remember correctly
