I get very anxious, only because I am old & disabled & walking on an even surface, on the ground level, I need a cane! These men are all BRAVE, STRONG, SKILLED & CRAZY SMART. Love seeing the huge change in Yanis -- he is showing his strength & courage, & so much skill! Mick makes me hang my head. He does amazing things.
Every day, your property gets closer to its original skeleton, while Dan's chateau slowly regains its structure. Ryan's house ... somewhere in between :)
I just have to say, Yanis is the definition of “looks are deceiving”. The guy is a POWERHOUSE and a tremendously hard worker. His stamina seems to be endless! And Billy’s Dad is the hardest worker for his age I have seen in a long time! Just amazing! What a crew!
I don't know about you, but seeing the thickness of the ceiling/floor y'all are removing looks like an overwhelming amount of work. I have to applaud you, Billy, for your dedication to this convent. This is no small feat!
I'm thinking about the old days where a lot of people put it all up there in the first place - all with hand tools and elbow grease only. And someone had to cut 10,000 or more little timber pieces for the convent, wrap them all by hand with straw and mud, carry them upstairs and finally install them in the floors. This job alone must have taken forever. Life is so much easier today with the help of Briko and Rockwool.
I can't help trying to envision the people that put those floors in....how hard it was lifting those beams ,wheelbarrowing the mud and straw., raping the mud and straw around each piece. Thank you for taking me along in your renovation and appreciating those that have gone before us.
I was just thinking about the same thing . What hard work that must have been, doing it all without any modern tools. In away it’s sad to see it torn up. But it’s definitely needed😊 I’m so exited to see the progress!
Am I the only one who holds my breath when the beams and lathe and miscellaneous debris goes flying past those windows???? And I believe I’ve watched every video of this convent renovation and have not seen one window broken yet. 😂 Amazing work everyone.
It is called Daub. The wood pieces were wrapped with Daub. Almost a Wattle & Daub except Wattle is usually like a basket weave. It is a very interesting floor, construction wise.
Love seeing little Archie, my what a happy smile. He seems to have a a great pal in Yanis! My goodness what a job! Well done Rick, Mick and Yanis. Nice to see our friends in the UK like the KC Chiefs. I too live in "Chief Country" in Missouri.
Incredible watching your vision for your library coming to life, Billy! Great job, gents! Hoping all that original old growth chestnut flooring/planks will be saved. It can be re-planed and repurposed Certainly not for the dump site! Happy Birthday, dad! 🎉
Billy's dad is amazing for almost 80 but it was only at the start of the year that Billy and his dad and the gang were helping Billy's Grandfather (who I am sure he said was Micks dad) out with his new home and I am just wondering how old he must be because he was well and truly getting stuck in to the work and he must be nearly 100 then !!! They do really Crack On with it. Amazing .
They have both sets of grandparents around, one set in a cottage next to Michael's at the château and the other in the recently renovated house in town.
Watching the dismantling the last few days - This convent was built like a fortress! Yes, it has sagged a bit over a couple of hundred years, but the "technology" used back in the day was amazing!
Yannis astounds me! He moves like a machine! Super fast, super strong, super efficient! I get tired watching him. Please be careful guys. I can't bear the thought of one of you dropping through the gaps between the beams!!!
The short lengths of chestnut from under the floor are probably too small for most purposes but they'll burn marvelously in the chateau's furnace. I suppose they could be turned on a lathe into candlesticks, wooden spoons and porridge spurtles
The old building techniques are so interesting. You should leave part of it exposed (showing the different layers) put plexiglass floor over it so people can see it when they visit.
I am so crazy pleased to see you wearing a Kansas City Chiefs Hoodie. I live a mile away from the Chiefs stadium. Thanks for supporting our Super Bowl Chiefs. I'm a die hard fan of The Pethericks. 👍👍 Crack On! Happy 80th Birthday Dad.
Rick has pretty eyes. Yanis is a little working fiend! He just gets right into a project. Some of those large timbers are quite bowed. Will you be able to use them anywhere? It's always nice to see your dad helping. He's a hard worker, too. looking forward to see work continue on your bedrooms, as well
Happy Birthday to your dad. I'm 81 ,wish I had his energy. I have a lung disease ,that slows me down. I crochet and make a lot of blankets ,I keep busy. Love what y'all have done. I keep on watching to see YA'LL working hard, everyday. Yenis and Rick are gold. Keep it up Billy ,it so exciting to see all that has been accomplished. CRACK ON
What your dad showed us - the chestnut beam covered in mud and stuff for insulation - is so very interesting! I’m grateful to you for showing us things like this. We’d never know information like this - how they did things back then.
In all the renovation shows I've watched from afar this is the absolute craziest demolition I have EVER seen. Where in the world is all this construction debris going? Breaks my heart to think of the landfills and inability to recycle practically none of it. Sigh. Hope it all works out in the end and someone actually gets to use the convent space in the near term.
How wonderful to be celebrating 80 years with all the family! Your Dad is one amazing, hardworking man. He is an inspiration. The library is going to be stunning!
The music is appropriate for the work , love it. Your dad is a real trooper, working at his age is amazing. My dad attended his garden till he was 96, work keeps you young.
Not sure if the beams are salvageable. If the are, have you thought of making the ones that are bowed into a curved garden bench. I've seen a "art" bench made of solid wood. It was beautiful.
Boy, I hope the floor below is tough enough to withstand all that concrete and debris falling on it. It seems to be pretty solid like maybe terrazzo or something similar. Regardless, I’m sure you’ve thought ahead and taken that into consideration. What a colossal job this library is. Can’t wait to see it finished. Great team not a slacker in the bunch…but I suppose any slackers would be quickly thrown in the dump truck and sent directly to the tip! Just kidding, of course, none of them would let the team down by leaning on their shovels…loving your channel from PA, USA.
It is truly amazing how much work is getting done on the daily for the Library project. So glad you have some human “demo machines” working with you Billy. Also glad the family is having a big blowout for Mick’s 80th. He has embodied for his family and all who know him how to Crack On!
That is one wicked looking tool your dad's using. You're all making me a nervous wreck. I'm afraid one of you is going to fall through that floor any minute.
Seeing your dad working side by side with you makes me happy and sad at the same time. I lost my dad back in 2020, and I have fond memories of the work we did together. Cherish this time.
Well you can see why those beams were 'smiling'. You guys are astonishing, and your lovely dad in the thick of it. A party to look forward to as well...marvellous!
These few segments seeing your vision for this room become a reality have been so satisfying to watch. Breaking through that floor just changes the whole place. Thanks for sharing!
Old trick to reduce bright sunlight damage on interiors - stained glass. And why not go "old school"--post/reach out for Artisans/Designers/Craftsmen to compete in a "Design Competition" for your library (whole vision or individual parts, you decide)? Stained glass & shutters (will need them for the library alone), window seats, stairs & square vs. oval opening, ceiling mural, etc. Note - instead of just "the convent", do you have a one-word name/reference for the building? If you do a competition, it would be great advertising for whatever business use you want for it later (i.e., hotel + residences).
Billy, I can’t believe your dad is 80! The man is an utter powerhouse, always tucking in and helping with your various projects. I am sure all of your viewers are wishing him a very happy birthday! Blessings from Canada.
Billy I have just watched De Hoeve Belgian farmhouse renovation and they have also been deliberating how to get their steel beams in place. They made a difficult job look easy.. with only 3 of them moving the beams. Great team work as always from you all at the convent.
This may be a stupid question, but if you know you're going to be throwing that dirt and rubble down that hole in the floor, wouldn't putting a tarp down there over the floor below make cleanup easier, rather than sweeping up all up? It might also protect the floor tiles.
Was not expecting to see you in a KC Chiefs hoodie - my hometown team. Interesting to see how cob was used in building in France, it was used very differently in early America, where it was mostly used on the exterior of wood cabins.
Love seeing your dad work, reminds me of my late dad. BUT!! I’m getting so anxious as the floor shrinks and there’s less to stand on!! Be careful guys!!
You will need to consider heat rises and cold drops . This means finding more money for heating and cooling costs. Fans from the ceiling will help in forcing hot air down to lower level.
Am I the only one who gets really nervous watching you all work so close to the edge 😱
My stomach dropped at the thumbnail!
I feel giddy🫣and all that dust is in my lungs🤧❤
🙋🏻♀️ 😮
No, you are definately NOT
Your Dad is amazing, Billy! Yanis and Rick too, but Mick is double their age... what a hard worker for his age.
Don’t forget..mick and his wife are the role models…the driving team in this family…and wot a job they ve done👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I can't believe your Dad is 80!! His level of activity is extraordinary! Congratulations and Happy Birthday!
If you stop, you drop...
Every day, your property gets closer to its original skeleton, while Dan's chateau slowly regains its structure. Ryan's house ... somewhere in between :)

Some of the joists are very happy!
the joists are clearly "smiling" 😅
I'm thinking about the old days where a lot of people put it all up there in the first place - all with hand tools and elbow grease only. I can't believe that you haven't broken a window yet. LOL Everytime I see one of the floor joice fall I'm holding my breath.
I can't help trying to envision the people that put those floors in....how hard it was lifting those beams ,wheelbarrowing the mud and straw., raping the mud and straw around each piece. Thank you for taking me along in your renovation and appreciating those that have gone before us.

I’m so exited to see the progress!
Happy birthday Dad. You are such a hard worker. I think the fact that you stay busy is why you have lived such a long life.
80 times around the sun is impressive and he is still very active. It is nice to see and have all those memories working side by side.
With yanis ,mick and Rick on the job you will probably have it done by Thursday
An idea for the old beams that have the big bow in them, Use them to build a small arched bridge over the waterway of your pond.
Lovely idea
It's so nice to see Rick smile again. Yannis has a very nice smile too and he's a hard worker just like the rest of them.
OMG. NOICE KC SWEATSHIRT!
Please make your crew wear masks & eye protection 💯% of the time! Seriously stressing me out!
I see many US uni and NYC and LA team ballcaps and sweatshirts around the net in EU countries, but KC, the Heart of America? That's a surprise.
I second the need for masks and eye protection! I worry about all of you! ❤
Wonderful that you are having a giant celebration for your dad’s 80 th birthday! Have a Happy!
I gave him that sweatshirt. Ha. Ha. He finally wore it!
@@donnablake5358 My hometown team from long ago. That sweatshirt gave me a grin; thanks, Donna.
Celebrating your Dad’s 80th with extended family is very motivating to get the chateau ready. Crack on gentlemen!🙏❤️
Dad,Rick & Yanis are the DREAM TEAM !! All of y'all work really hard and it shows ! Convent & the Chateaux are looking simply Amazing 👏
You little one is such a cherub ❤ Happy Birthday to your dear Dad !
Pretty scary how quickly & easily that floor comes apart.
"... with the aid of a pneumatic drill and brute force...."
also reminds me of Ryans house all that mud
Tons of dirt and dust and bent beams. Such great progress
And in the middle of all the destruction there is Archibald smiling like an angel 😊😊😊😊😊
So amazing to see the different methods of insulating.
You could build a Trojan Rocking Horse with those bent beams!
Love It!
What a blessing to have a Dad that age ready to work so hard.
Wow! I’m just impressed at how the wood held up for 200+ years.
Love seeing little Archie, my what a happy smile. He seems to have a a great pal in Yanis! My goodness what a job! Well done Rick, Mick and Yanis.
Nice to see our friends in the UK like the KC Chiefs. I too live in "Chief Country" in Missouri.
Jannis is such a hard worker - he seems to be everywhere!!!
Your dad is incredible the way he just keeps going. He must collapse at night!!!
Nice KC Chiefs hoodie! I'm a KC native and I live roughly 5 mins from the stadium! I love seeing so many people around the world rocking Chiefs gear
Mick is a total stud. He is the best-looking 80-year-old man I’ve seen. I’d love to see a photo of him from his youth!
Yes!
80 years of living and knowledge what a amazing archivment! Wishing Mick the best birthday 🎉🎉
Incredible watching your vision for your library coming to life, Billy! Great job, gents!
Hoping all that original old growth chestnut flooring/planks will be saved. It can be re-planed and repurposed Certainly not for the dump site!

I believe the grandparents are his mother's parents
They have both sets of grandparents around, one set in a cottage next to Michael's at the château and the other in the recently renovated house in town.
Sorry my bad
Hollee those beams were smilin' they were so bent. Wow! Hard work everyone but it is looking awesome!!
It’s unbelievable how much those floors must have weighed!😮😮😮
Watching the dismantling the last few days -
This convent was built like a fortress!
Yes, it has sagged a bit over a couple of hundred years,
but the "technology" used back in the day was amazing!
Level 80!!! What an accomplishment, Happy bday.
Yannis astounds me! He moves like a machine! Super fast, super strong, super efficient! I get tired watching him. Please be careful guys. I can't bear the thought of one of you dropping through the gaps between the beams!!!
He was flipping those floor tiles like they were pancakes!
The room will be magnificent, when finished!
Flip those beams around and in another hundred years they'll be straight as an arrow.
Fascinating watching your vision coming to live. The library already has beautiful bones!
You Dad is amazing. He works so hard, can't. Believe he is turning 80.
The short lengths of chestnut from under the floor are probably too small for most purposes but they'll burn marvelously in the chateau's furnace.
I suppose they could be turned on a lathe into candlesticks, wooden spoons and porridge spurtles
Happy Birthday Mr. Petherick, and many, many more!!!

Happy Birthday to your Dad what a Great man 😊
Happy Birthday to your father.

looking forward to see work continue on your bedrooms, as well
Wow! Some of those beams are really warped!
Happy Birthday to your dad.
I'm 81 ,wish I had his energy. I have a lung disease ,that slows me down.
I crochet and make a lot of blankets ,I keep busy. Love what y'all have done. I keep on watching to see YA'LL working hard, everyday.

Use those beams to make a huge rocking horse for the kids 😊

Great progress Billy love watching the demolition.
Holy smokes HUGE amount of space. 🎉 happy birthday to Papa Pethirick!!

It was sweet to see one of your boys with jannis and your dad is amazing 🎉🎉🎉😊❤
Ryan could uses those beams for his new floor joists, They are perfectly crowned for a new floor.
The way we ALL SCREAMED when we saw your Chiefs sweatshirt! Supporting you all the way from Kansas City, Missouri! Welcome to Chiefs Kingdom 👏🏽🙌🏽
Ohhhhh Yannis I really thought that window was a goner 😂😂😂😂😘💙🇬🇧
Your Dad getting close to the big 80 and still doing what he is doing ...... WoW fantastic !!!!!!!!!!
Boy, I hope the floor below is tough enough to withstand all that concrete and debris falling on it. It seems to be pretty solid like maybe terrazzo or something similar. Billy has talked about it before. There's concrete under those tiny tiles, it is very strong.
I thought the same. Um
It is truly amazing how much work is getting done on the daily for the Library project. So glad you have some human “demo machines” working with you Billy. Also glad the family is having a big blowout for Mick’s 80th. He has embodied for his family and all who know him how to Crack On!

It's a bit scary watching you guys work over the big drop .
Well done 🎉🎉🎉 especially Dad xx what a trooper 😊❤
Of course you can Billy 👍☺️
Guys, you should all be wearing safety harnesses. One slip is all it takes to have a disaster 😮
Love the Chiefs hoodie Billy! Nothing like supporting KC from France.
Awesome choice of a sweatshirt Billy!! Kansas City Chiefs!!!!
The conv😮ent is looking great!!!! Will you put a spiral staircase in??
I'm surprised you haven't used construction chutes out the upper floor windows for disposing of the debris.
You rockin the KC Chiefs hoody is awesome.

Billy, I can’t believe your dad is 80! The man is an utter powerhouse, always tucking in and helping with your various projects. I am sure all of your viewers are wishing him a very happy birthday! Blessings from Canada.
Your Dad is such a great help…. It’s wonderful to see him..😊
Your dad is the patron saint of hard work. He steals every scene.
I am amazed at how much your dad still does at 80. Its gonna be so cool when finished.
Billy I have just watched De Hoeve Belgian farmhouse renovation and they have also been deliberating how to get their steel beams in place. They made a difficult job look easy.. with only 3 of them moving the beams. Great team work as always from you all at the convent.
Rick needs a new box of crayons to finish his arm. That is a lot of work. Well done. You will have to hire a window washer.
I was going to say they need Alexander to come visit when it is time to clean all the windows! But Billy is replacing all the windows anyway. 😂
You should keep a sample of the old insulation to show in a showcase.
We are all the better for your dad being here 80 years.🎉
This may be a stupid question, but if you know you're going to be throwing that dirt and rubble down that hole in the floor, wouldn't putting a tarp down there over the floor below make cleanup easier, rather than sweeping up all up? It might also protect the floor tiles.

Thanks Billy for the glimpse of Ernest! GB the 80th Bday Festivities!! -SE TX❤
Love seeing your dad work, reminds me of my late dad. BUT!! I’m getting so anxious as the floor shrinks and there’s less to stand on!! Be careful guys!!
Amazing progress you all work so hard thanks for sharing ❤
Your dad is so awesome. Keeping up and almost doing more and harder work than the young ones. And his mind is still firing. Cherish that man.
I cringe everytime the drop one of those floor joists down. I just know they are going to break a window. 😮
Oh me too!
Just a Amazing team brilliant video 🍻🍻🍻🍻⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
You will need to consider heat rises and cold drops . This means finding more money for heating and cooling costs. Fans from the ceiling will help in forcing hot air down to lower level.
Wreck It Rick has no fear! And, I got This, Yanis! Never to forget Mighty Mick, and oh, you to Billy! 😂😉❤️
My nose is burning just watching the dust you are making.
