As a land locked computer mechanic I never in my life would have guessed line prep was anything other than knots. Super neat that the Internet can share this stuff with the world. I also know this would be exponentially more work but a few cuts to a close up would bump this video way up in quality.
When I first joined the tug company that's how I was taught by the bosun capt. And the first knot he taught me was bowline on a bit and he he also had me do that behind my back. Thanks capt for a great video
Rhode Island here 😊 . I love showing people how to splice , I have saved people money buy splicing 2 lines together , and back splicing the ends to get rid of the knot . Did 2 inch and 4 inch double braided when I was in the coast guard , you need a book tape measure , marker and help 😅. And patience. Great Video as usual

kinda brings back memories of the cub scouts. i can tie my shoes. that's about it.
And there's two knots for that. A strong, and a weak. Most are taught the weak.
Thanks for watching Capt 🫡
@@ShainAndrews well i've never had any structural shoelace failures in 71 years so weak or strong, whatever i learned has worked well enough.
@@tugboatwilly843 Captain obvious perhaps. you be the real Captain here. keep em coming!

AH! Splicing was my favorite in Sea Cadets, Tuesday night strops and snotters, Man how times flies, I feel so old now!!
Hey now! Thanks for watching 🤙
Really enjoy your videos and watch you operate the tug carefully. My question: how do you adjust the throttle on the tractor tug?
It’s right on top of the controls. Thanks for watching 🤙
Love the channel - splice some wire rope next!
If I get a chance I will! Thanks for watching!
Just curious, how often do you need to replace the lines and gear. I’m thinking the main, big line gets a lot of abuse. Thanks for video
Every certain number of jobs we change it. Thanks for watching 🤙
