  • In this video, I'm making a quick comparison between these T618 handhelds: Anbernic RG405M, Retroid Pocket 3+ (RP3+), and Anbernic RG505.
    All these handhelds are good. They are Android-based, with 4+128GB, have the Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset (playing up to PS2 and GameCube), premium build quality, and cost around $150. So, it comes down to your personal preference (in terms of size, design, build material, features…etc.).
    The RG405M is the smallest of the bunch, having a 4.0 inch IPS screen with the lowest resolution (640 x 480 pixels), which makes it more pocketable and portable, has in-line shoulder buttons, hall sensor analogue sticks, a premium metal shell (alloy aluminum), a 4500 mAh battery, and costs $155.
    The RP3+ is in the middle when it comes to size (pocketable factor). It has more color options, a mini-HDMI out, stalked shoulder buttons, a 4.7-inch LCD screen with the highest resolution (1334 x 750 pixels), a 4500 mAh battery, and costs $135.
    The RG505 is the biggest of the bunch with a 5.0 inch OLED screen (960 x 544 pixels), has in-line shoulder buttons, hall sensor analogue sticks, the biggest battery (5000 mAh), and costs $130.

    Waiting on my 405M to arrive, picked it coz the black on black and finish looks 🔥more premium and sleek compared to the others with this chip.

    Picked out the 405 for that 4:3 aspect ratio and some select GameCube games. If I get anything more high end, I’ll jump all the way up to a steam deck oled 🙌 thanks for the help deciding

      My pleasure, I totally agree with you, the 4:30 aspect ratio looks great on retro systems, I also use my Odin 2 or Steam Deck for PS2/GC/Wii emulation. 😉

    I have a question. I have both rg405m and RP3 +. I play a lot games for platform with 4:3 screen format, in this point the rg405m screen is bigger than the RP3 + and for so is better to play those games in the rg405m. But what about the 505, is the screen bigger that the 405m for 4:3 format?

    • @ironcladcobra
      @ironcladcobra  Před měsícem

      In terms of screen size, the 505 has the biggest screen (5.0''), then comes the RP3+ (4.7''), then comes the 405M (4.0''). However, only the 405M has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is the best for retro systems, whereas the 505 and the RP3+ have both 16:9 aspect ratio, which is great for PSP games. 😉

    Hi, I’m going to buy a handheld for my son’s birthday and I want the anbernic handheld that plays the absolute most amount of games ie. biggest game libraries, most emulators, and if it has google play etc. Which one would I buy? Thank you in advance!

    • @ironcladcobra
      @ironcladcobra  Před 18 dny +2

      Sure, all these 3 handhelds have the same chipset (performance) but the RP3+ is the only one that doesn't come with pre-installed games (micro-SD card). Since you're getting this for your son, it's better to get the RG505, it looks exactly like a Nintendo Switch (almost same size), has the biggest screen OLED screen (5.0''), biggest battery (5000 mAh), and you can order it with pre-installed games (micro-SD card) in case you don't want to work on it (get your own micro-SD card, download the games, configure the emulators...etc). 😉

    • @ironcladcobra
      @ironcladcobra  Před 18 dny +2

      @@MrsNunswife You're welcome. I don't think so, the 505 has the T618 chipset, whereas the 556 has the T820 chipset, which makes it more powerful than the 505 (better PS2/GC/Wii performance). It also has a bigger screen (5.5'') and a bigger battery (5500 mAh).So, I guess your son will have more fun with the 556. 😉

      @ironcladcobra  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Well, the T618 chipset on these devices plays up to PS1/PSP/Dreamcast/N64/NDS really well. Anything higher than that (PS2/GC/Wii3DS) is hit and miss (the easy/2D titles are playable). 😉

    • @ironcladcobra
      @ironcladcobra  Před 6 měsíci +2

      It depends on your preferences/priorities. The performance is the same, if you like a smaller size and more pocketable device, then the 405M is a better option. If you like a bigger OLED screen with higher resolution and a bigger battery, then the 505 is a better option. 😉

    i honestly think unless you can somehow find these at 100 bucks they're not really relevant anymore. The retroid pocket 4 and 4 pro have been announced, with the 4 starting at 150. and if you want a cheaper 4:3 console, there are other options which can do a lot still, and the Anbernic arc gets 4 inches at cheaper prices too....

      I wanted to try a 4” 4:3 vertical handheld so I picked up the RG405v for £140 delivered with official case and U.K. warranty. There’s nothing as powerful in this form factor and if I wanted a 16:9 candy bar format device, the RP4 is just over £200 and the pro £250. The Pro is too close in price to the Odin 2 or base Steam Deck which are both significantly better devices.
      For a GameBoy like experience, I find the rg405v with GammaOS a positive one and certainly relevant.
