This year rally Estonia there were 17 trees fallen on the powerstage and it was delayed 15 minutes. That's more than 1 tree cleared per minute. Here they couldn't clear a balloon in 3 minutes. Not cool.
U cant compare Rally Latvia with Poland in Poland 3 stages where closed due to people walking on the track

@@gagaringagarinovic2600 in fairness that was his own mistake, I didnt list sweden for the same reason, but I am honestly upset at how rough his season is especially at the rallys youd expect him to be good at

@@forests.9597 I am a very new WRC fan so I have no idea about the history. Was McRae known for crashing much bc he pushed too much? Is Tänak comparable to a modern day McRae? I only know McRaes name from the rally games I played when I was a five year old and would like to know what he was like
@@2sthimo449 Basically yeah, the man was always pushing the car to its limits, always trying to be the fastest no matter what. That's what made him the legend that he is today, but that also made him less successful than other contemporary drivers who were probably less gifted than him. As to Tanak being comparable to him, in style yeah, in skill and bravery no, McRae is arguably the most skilled and fearless rally driver in history. Tanak is pretty good though, I love him.
How many other forms of professional racing require the drivers to work on their own car mid race. Rally is a special breed!

well it is, but still remember Lancia stopping mid stage to change for slick tyres monte Carlo to try catch the Quattro. It happened in Corsica in the 70s to. Rally was really crazy at that time. Even early 90s, remember in mix surface rounds. they had mechanics but was a van with fuel and tyres.. rallye lasted a week, more than 600km in SS.

Deer in Poland, now a damn commercial arch and then to top it off, the gear shaft broke in Liepaja due to the prior crash. Ridiculous luck and even worse from the organisers

SS16 damage after jump was related to SS14 incident and i think Tänak should get same SS16 time as Ogier and Sesks.

They have the footage, they know they messed up.
Must have been down for some time or at least obviously deflating. Rather worrying when the WRC, an FIA category, can have something lying across the road for so long it is only noticed when the next car collects it.
At this stage we don't know exactly what the timings of the falling arch were do we?
there was plenty of information available even for the regular tv-viewers - when Evans returned to the road, he severed the ropes and pieces of it flew off live. it wasn't deflating right this second but it was clearly enough warning to keep an eye on the situation. 2nd point - there was no onboard video feed available as signal transmitting plane was broken down, therefore making it all the more bizarre that a room full of race control officials either didn't notice or made wrong call of not stopping the stage. even if it was a human error, at least it paints them as hypocrites for their previous severe punishments for minor mistakes by drivers, mistakes that never had a potential to escalate to serious damage to either themselves or 3rd parties. 3rd - the live tv-pictures were cut from the camera. this kind of censorship should be reserved for fatal accidents (which the promoter has used annoyingly liberally even before on minor accidents), but in no case should censorship be used to save FIA's face when they fumble on their safety protocols!
this was a disgrace through and through.
and now on the following stage, Ott's car was broken on the landing from the jump - most probably as a result of the banner knotting and suddenly stopping the wheels and weakening the drive shaft, which resulted him hitting a straw-bail on the next corner. lucky for him it was on relatively slow speed super special stage and not 150 km/h.
also - had the video of the accident been released, it would have given Hyundai engineers more information to warn Ott.
