Sometimes its the greatest thing you've ever seen.

Stalker is my favorite franchise. The fact the the devs are cool with the community doing this is freaking awsome. Thos game also has an extended list of mods to improve and tune gameplay to your liking.
I can't get over the PDA finger animations, I don't know why, but little touches like that are just my favorite thing in games.

Since Anomaly, I struggle to enjoy any other games.
Anomaly spoiled us all too much, it set a higher bar for the Stalker 2 expectation. I don't care if the graphic is better, but I'm sure I might get disappointed because it will lack a lot of hardcore feature from Anomaly, they need to make it playable for everyone after all.
one things that i hope for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is that it is Mod-able, which open up possibilities to match up with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly (with a probably stable engine)

I hold Anomaly in the highest regard. It is my favorite game by far. And in my opinion the best game ever created, better the PR BF2, Half life 2, and all others.

If You're looking for some more free to play games in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R universe you should definitely check out Lost Alpha and A.R.E.A. (area is like Anomaly but deeper than my existential dread)
@FBI Area is gucci if you're looking for hardcore, borderline bullshit hard expirience. But it has a huge plus it's a pick up and play complete package. With Anomaly You'd have to customize it a lot to have it feel right. Think of it as such Anomaly- for casual gamers A.R.E.A. for people who enjoy more of a milsim tac-shooter approach

Right now i have the provaks pack for my anomaly witch has a lot of mods that packed into one mod
@@escalator9734 Anomaly has a lot of settings to tailor the experience however you see fit, within some limitations. On top of that, there are many add-ons available to download to further alter how the game plays. On more or less standard conditions, it's a reasonably unforgiving game, like regular STALKER.
AREA is more of a closed package, it's quite a chore to play, if you don't have lots of free time, I'd avoid it.

to be fair, Ecologists are usually escorted by mercenaries or Duty soldiers who do most of the fighting. i like to think that the Ecologists that walk around the zone are stalkers that have been hired by the Ecologists to find artefacts and anomalies in the zone while the actual scientists remain in the bunkers. I think it would be cool if the developers would add unarmed scientist Ecologists who would join the armed Ecologist-hired Stalkers on patrols.
have you read the book that this game is based on? it's called 'A Roadside Picnic', it's actually really good imo, it's an essential read if you're a fan of the game. Anyway, in the book, the main character, Red, is one of many stalkers that are hired by scientists to obtain artefacts. At the beginning of the book he accompanies two scientists and guides them through the Zone. The suits that the Ecologists wear in-game are also based on the protective suits that the scientists (and the Stalkers they hire) wear in the book. I'm 99.9% sure that the Ecologists are based on the scientists from the book.

You should edit the damage ratio, the default 1.0 makes everything super strong, if you want bullets to feel more like bullets you gotta go into settings and raise that multiplier. There are a ton of settings (and mods) that can really customize the experience.
He should also lower the grass size, the max height makes it like a jungle, and almost impossible to see enemies (although they can see you thru grass).
I love Anomaly, but it's no replacement for the original story lines, which are more dynamic and alive. But, Anomaly improves everything else by far. Especially if modded with "addons" for all sorts of extra improvements and items.

And I don’t think Stalker 2 will offer everything Anomaly does. The devs likely have their own vision for it, which is why modding will be necessary.
Not that that’s bad, but there will be people who find stalker 2 lacking because it doesn’t offer a strict anomaly experience.
Ain't no wayyy. You're telling me they made a new stalker, I don't know a lot about the game, but I remember playing a tiny bit of the game and loving just how it felt playing it, it was very immersive, though I never got very far.

@@axserwz5022 pretty much. It does have some minor new story stuff, and it is set after some of the games (maybe all of them?) but I forget the nitty gritty of the STALKER series cause I haven't played vanilla in so long.
As for Anomaly itself, it adds many, many new features, and a complete graphics overhaul, but yes, it's all assets from the other games, and all the maps are either in the other games, or were cut from them. Same with the factions.
There's some new quests but most of what I've done has no real main plot to it, it's just little side things for immersion. There's a fair few new characters.

Something you should talk about is how customizable this game is. For size reference, it takes me about 5-10 minutes to get all the different sandbox sliders in settings where I want them because there is so much you can customize: Zombie apocalypse, warzone, story, 1 life, BF3 style deaths where you become the an NPC or companion when you die, mutant and npc quantities, progression and combat difficulties, hud configuration, visual configuration, and not only that but there are dozens of official add on mods and dozens more non official mods that are compatible with this game to customize your experience. I run a mod that increases mutant spawns to a max of 70 mutants per mob. This game also has full 4K support addon mods for textures, mutants, reshades, weapon skins, NPC models... This FREE game is the greatest FPS RPG that has ever been made.
What's weird is how it's 'free' but it pretty much uses every aspect, asset, and general mechanic from Stalker whilst patching it and adding to it without coming under fire from lawyers and the game company itself. Like, my brain can't wrap around that.

I have put countless hours into this game. By far one of the most replayable and enjoyable shooters I've played. The modding scene is also amazing. Couldnt recommend enough for those looking to be punished!
I recommend playingvthe og games through first, but yes, anomaly is awesome. It combines all of the maps from all three games. It lacks the compelling story lines of the cannon games, buts its a great reworking
Nice to see more people playing Anomaly. Don't let the difficulty or realism turn you off from the game, you can customize the damage you do, the damage enemies do, whether or not those little animations play when you use items, etc.
I will also say this, the safest path is not always the most straightforward. You were lucky the zone spared you when you walked into that anomaly.
Idk why but when you're from an ex eastern block country and if its in the same climate that Ukraine is, it just feels so magic seeing your own sights, nature that you experience everyday transformed into this epic chunk of a good game with perfection.
I'm from Romania. 100 meters from the flat where I lived since I was 2 was industrial decay eerily similar to STALKER. Played SoC at 14 and it changed my life.

Absolutely LOVE seeing someone cover this hidden gem. STALKER completely renovated the FPS survival genre with so many innovative and creative ideas and mechanics, and still stands strong even after a decade of being built on an old game. The team behind Anomaly are amazing, and cant wait for STALKER 2.
FYI, Anomaly doesnt make Stalker a Fallout Style game. Fallout and Bethesda DIRECTLY took inspiration in FALLOUT3 from STALKER games, this game was breaking boundaries before the big dogs in the gaming industry.
I was playing this just a week ago. Anomaly mod + weapons modpack is amazing. Probably will be better than Stalker 2 when it comes out.

I also feel that it's important to point out for anyone who isn't familiar with Anomaly yet: the mode showcased in this video is Warfare, which is an optional mode for Anomaly.
This plays very differently from the Story mode, where you get three storylines (although one of them is relatively short compared to the other two) to complete, and is very well-made and enjoyable. Although these storylines are only available to about half of the total factions, the other factions have dynamic storylines, starting from their faction leaders, that you can play if you want to.
There's also Survival mode, which replaces NPC spawns with zombies that will head towards your location, if you're into that sort of thing.
Finally, there's Azazael mode, which, upon death, lets you take over another randomly-selected NPC in the Zone and play as them. This obviously doesn't work with Story mode, but it's good if you're doing Survival or you're just sandboxing around.
TLDR: this video is a neat showcase for the Warfare mode, but is by no means the extent of the mod and plays very differently from the other modes on offer that other players might enjoy more (I've dipped my toes into Warfare mode, but Story mode is my favourite by a long shot).

Anomaly is the most vanilla-like of the Call Of Chernobyl family while still feeling like a completely different game to the original trilogy. Call Of Chernobyl itself is the attempt to mate the content of the official trilogy into one sandbox on an updated version of the original engine. In that respect, you can sort of view Anomaly as a standalone game developed from a standalone mixing pot of official game elements. Wild.
It's a really damn good overhaul mod. If you have any questions about the mod or want to get into modding your game (community made addons or making your own modifications) I recommend you check out the discord, very friendly community. Even if you just want to get into the game at least check out the options menu, Anomaly is very, very customizable.

Best version of STALKER? Debatable. Story and feeling wise, NO. On the other hand, the stability is waaaaaaaay better with the new engine. Graphics, the same. You can install 4k or whatever textures you want and make the game look very modern. The gameplay is way more diverse and there are hundreds of mods already, made especially for Anomaly. What the devs need to do now is to concentrate a bit on the ZONE part of the game (mutants, story, feeling, mood, specific quests).

It's a mod of a mod and was inspired by a mod that was inspired by another mod.
STALKER Anomaly is nothing more than a sand-box free-roam mod, made into a standalone executable.
There's dozens of such mods out there, but only very few of them have been made into standalone games.
Anyone who has not played STALKER yet, thinking about starting with this mod, is doing himself a great disservice.
Disservice? When was trying something a disservice? Nothing more than a sand-box free-roam mod? Right.. get your head out of your ass. It's about the atmosphere and the endless tweaks to suit your own style of gameplay. Who are you to tell us that the things we want to do in this mod is a disservice to ourselves?
If only this was also possible to be played in VR.

Actually, there is a game coming out with a demo in the next couple of weeks called 'Ab Aeterno'.
It's an incredible VR game heavily inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R and I think you'll like it.

this is the worst mod to play as the first entry to the stalker universe,if youre starting stalker I advise you to play the Original games,SoC preferably,if you REALLY wanna mod it (I advice you to play it unmodded) get the ZRP mod
most of the ppl who play anomaly first get the wrong idea about stalker,anomaly has too many unneded features,it's story is awful(tho I dont put it past it since it isn't really the main appeal) you need loads of addons to make it enjoyable

Bad suggestion. Anomaly is wildly different to the original STALKER series and it is more focused on tactical and survival. If you want to play STALKER, don't start with Anomaly, it's not the same as STALKER. Go start with SOC or pirate it something. Plus, Anomaly runs shit on low-medium PC. Anomaly bad for beginners.
youre right, about the game not being beginner friendly, but i think its optimized way better than the original Stalker, run flawlessly, basicaly maxed out on my old 1060.

If you are new to the stalker franchise I personally suggest playing the first and third games first(on the hardest difficulty, it makes it easier and a bit more immersive at the same time).
I suggest this for three reasons
1. The story is great and I don't remember Anomaly mod strictly following the questline due to how much crazy awesome extra stuff they added
2. To get acclimated to the gameplay. STALKER can be a pretty difficult game. Anomaly can be unforgiving.
3. To support the devs, the games are a decade old and Anomaly is free. But the games are very cheap and the money will go towards the development of STALKER 2.
This is entirely my opinion and if you want to jump straight into anomaly then absolutely go for it. STALKER is a great series and rekindled my love for gaming after years of incredibly bland AAA releases so I recommend you to get your dose however you can. After a year of my PC being dead in the water I am getting the PC parts needed to fix it tomorrow. First game I am playing is anomaly bb. HYPE!
Anomaly is amazing, It has a story but you can play it almost like a hardcore survival roguelike, as with anything stalker related it also has an amazing and very much active modding scene with a pretty staggering amount of mods that further aid you in customizing the game to your specific taste. Speaking of which the game also has sliders for fucking days, with almost every aspect from difficulty to graphics being fully customizable, bullet damage, player damage, item prices, loot, mutant and stalker population, frequency of emissions, weather, you name it, Anomaly probably lets you tweak it easily and on the fly. It also only recently got an update that brings immersion to a whole new level, be warned, things can get buggy especially with lots of addons but generally if you have a fairly modern PC, it runs way better than any of the 3 games in vanilla.
