I actually enjoyed it even though I am complaining some stuff in the video. Thank you Albert Heijn! ▶Instagram: jinstams ▶Email: contactjinfromjapan@gmail.com #Netherlands #Dutch #Sushi
If you go to a market where they have fresh fish, you can ask for sashimi grade tuna or salmon, They will make a fresh cut for you that is safe to eat raw. You can also get japanese nori, good quality sushi rice, and high quality soysauce from a big asian supermarket chain such as amazingoriental.
Wouldn't it be funny to open a sushi restaurant in Japan where you could try all of the different international versions of sushi. In other words, sushi, as served in the US, or Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, etc, so the Japanese can laugh about it and be amazed at how other countries have such differing ideas about what sushi is compared to Japan, but also compared to each other
I remember I visited the Jumbo flagship shop and they had a big sushi bar with chef preparing on the spot, it looked and taste was good, but then again it was the flagship shop ... there are super good Japanese restaurant in Brussels, I have lots of Japanese colleagues so we went around and they confirmed, especially our elders that this was good stuff
I did not know about how the rice should be, so thanks for the info. In my town (Nijmegen) there is a little sushi place, run by the nicest Japanese people you can imagine, and they make great sushi, much better than at the AH. I always get my sushi there. The worst sushi I had was from this restaurant chain called Sushi Point.
Have you tried the Albert Heijn onigiri too? I'm not sure if they sell them in the normal stores or just in the smaller ones at train stations. I used to get them as lunch sometimes when I was going to university.
I have seen them but never tried. I should give it a try!! I don't tend to pay for Japanese food in stores because it feels too expensive compared to prices in Japan.
@@jinfromjapan I wouldn't recommend them. It's not fresh so the rice gets hard. And once again, too much rice with little to no flavor. I used to think sushi from restaurants here was good, but after I had been to Japan I just felt like the rice doesn't taste the same and there's too much rice and not enough fish.
wow it makes sense they’re supposed to be smaller! i love sushi and i try to eat them properly by having them in one bite, but i always feel like that’s a lot of food in my mouth at once haha. i should make them myself and make them smaller. thanks for the video, i learnt something! :)
I think the more tough rice, roasted onions and sesame seeds come from the Indonesian influence. Which influences a lot of our Asian cuisine in general. The volume more likely due to the Dutch being so big on average. This is just an educated guess though. What did you think about Hollandse Nieuwe? The raw herring we eat with onions.
I always had a suspicious stomach pain after eating appie sushi. Thank god a real sushi shop is in my neighbourhood. I’ve never tasted sushi that good, but then again, I’ve never been to Japan.
You only realise what you had when you don't have it anymore XD I moved to Ireland for a couple of years. I had my parents send me packages full of hagelslag and the like, and lots of liquorice... I didn't know I couldn't/didn't want to live without, until I didn't have it, haha! I would love to visit Japan once. Will have to get over my fear of flying ánd heights before though, if I want to enjoy the experience :')
I spent time in the UK & I craved Root Beer. My British hosts found me some sasparilla soda which taste’s similar to root beer. When I was in Germany I craved peanut butter. My host family got me some Nutella.
今晩は!僕わ寿司が大好きです. (training my basic level Japanse). I have eaten sushi in Bulgaria...and it was tasty...but I firmly believe that the original Japanese sushi tastes way better! Wish I could try it one day! Best of luck with your youtube channel!
yeah supermarket sushi in the netherlands is not good at all, I think the best supermarket sushi is the sushi from the Deen supermarket. I think you should try that out
Nice video :) Personally I don't care much for the sushi in the AH, but I am glad they sell Sapporo beer. By the way, I notice you said 'bochi bochi', would you by any chance be from Osaka or the area around there?
Also if you ever are coming back to the Netherlands. I suggest you go to Ichi-e. Its in the bijlmer near the Arena. There you can buy the most AMAZING SUSHI EVER MY BEST EXPERIENCE
Even here in Japan, I am not usually a big fan of supermarket sushi. For me the best sushi is fresh and delicate. I am lucky that where I live in Osaka, there are many good sushi shops. But because of COVID, I have to get take-out. :(
@@jinfromjapan I have been to Hiroshima several times. It is a lovely city. If you ever visit Kansai again, please contact me. I can give you some recommendations and advice.

Have you found any places in Amsterdam that do a decent teishoku, like tonkatsu or even chicken nanban? Sushi in NL for me is just not worth it... Too expensive, disappointing quality-better to wait until I'm in Japan. :)
I am a Dutchman living in the USA. Love your channel!

Do you know sigma from overwatch?
The Salmon comes from Norway or Scotland, that is why it is expensive.

Albert Heijn has definitely better sushi then other supermarkets, I like it from there, to eat time to time :))

Gewoon met fork of handen shusi is wel lekker moet ik wel toe geven
Never get the store-sushi of Albert Heijn. Once got a foodpoisoning so bad by it, that my entire nose had swollen up like a strawberry.

No, I am not from Osaka. "Bochi Bochi" is originally a dialect I guess but it is used across in Japan these days.

寿司ラーメンは日本が最強笑
conclusion; It can't be served in a Japanese sushi restaurant!
食う sounds very manly and too casual. I think 食べる suits you better to use when you are still learning.
I don’t know what you’re saying I owe me know what you’re saying in English so
