Meghalaya is actually not Mountain but a platue. *It is not part of Himalaya. This are completely different landscape. ( Different from Dzuku valley hill range also )
It's the extension of peninsular plateau called 'Karbi Anglong' plateau. Seperated by malda fault/gap.
NO it is part of garo- khasi hills. Search more on garo- khasi hills

I have studied Geography till 10th , and then science. Now I am studying Data science.
Shilong is most developed city of Meghalaya and also capital.
North East is one of the most beautifull place in India, but tourism sector in that area is soo bad that you will regret after visiting once. I have been there(Meghalaya, Assam) couple of months back.
that is why it is the best, when you come you will feel really close to the nature, untouched by human man made, decoration, Infrastructure etc...
Its not that bad. There are plenty many good resorts and homestays in almost all the prime tourist spots.

during british times and after independence subquest congress govt allowed christian missionaries to do proteslization of khasi people which significantly changed the demography of the state, eventually bring english with them and instead of hindi to taught in school as connecting language they promoted english through churches........which led to people knowing neither hindi or english completely and only know khasi. i wonder want betterment congress party during there 60 years rule in india brought in daily lives of people.....

It is said that Britishers tried to settle in Meghalaya, but due to its unstoppable rains, the British got actually mentally mad and left the place...
Sohra (Cheerapunji) was the capital of British Assam. It was a known fact that British officers went mad and even committed suicide becoz of the rain. They (British) had to shift it to Shillong.
