I'm not convinced that I really need an upgrade on my current system. It's a laptop of about the same age but it runs W10, made up to look like W7 (Classic Shell,W8gadgets and various other tweaks). I suspect that I'll probably load W11 on a VM first on my big Linux system.
This so boosted my confidence that there are even worst pcs than mine

When that CPU was new, I had a cedar mill Pentium d, 4 GB of RAM and a GeForce 7300le. I never really had much of a problem with it and when I did I used a power Macintosh G5 dual core.

I used a VM with 2GB RAM with Windows 11 because my host that is also Windows 11, has 4GB RAM. I do have TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, a supported CPU, the Celeron N4500, and 128GB RAM on my host.

Works. You need a win10 iso, extract it, and replace the install.wim(system image) in sources folder replaced by the one from windows 11 folder. Then click on the win10 setup.exe and windows 11 install.wim will be installed.

no, RAM 16gb is more than enough, 'cause I have 16gigs too, the problem is you need SSD tho, and mine still using HDD and still laggy in loading times, in RAM it takes 3.5gigs when you only open explorer, doesn't include other apps

I have 8GB and an unsupported CPU and I installed Windows 11 and it runs perfect. I do have an SSD though and a decent GPU so a very balanced system. Windows 11 uses the same RAM idle that 10 did (about 3GB)
