I found this video a little too late but I went to change the oil on my 6.0 '04. Yukon XL found metal shavings. Change the oil and notice that I had no oil pressure as I just got the vehicle... Drove some 400 miles with no issue. Turn the vehicle off. Turn the vehicle back on the next day only to hear ticking proceeded to drop the oil pan and found smashed camshaft bearings. Lean this to say I pulled the camshaft currently installing it. Wondering how long this engine will last now anybody ever experience anything like that? And how far did you make it if you did?

Just what I didn't want to hear. My Acadia, with only 85k miles on it, has metal shavings in the oil. It was a great and informative video, though! What I'd like to know, is just how long might it last? The car is paid for and now isn't a good time to be spending money.

Me too. My 2017 Hyundai Elantra started to knock (only for 10 seconds) and enginen light came on. 110K mi, and took it in. They told me metal was in the oil, and they couldn't fix it, it needed a new engine. Called the dealer, they told me $9K to replace an engine. Engine light is now off, but how long will it last? I can't trust it to take it anywhere now. Mine too is paid for. Was hoping to not to get a new car for at least a couple more years, am on SS and $$ is tight!!

My co-worker's buddies build race cars and they said to just keep driving it. So far, so good. The engine runs smoothly, no sign of anything eminent. fingers are crossed . . . (Good luck!)@@sherylclements2846
