    I’ve had these wash lights since 2014! A few years after I “upgraded” to 2 truss and ADJ Focus Spot 4z…. And a couple years later sold the focus spots and so happy I didn’t get rid of the dotz par system.
    I know it’s tempting to use the moving heads and truss because all the other CZcams djs use that setup but as a solo op, this is the way to go. I even bought 2 of these and don’t know why I tried other stuff. This is all you need as a solo op. Focus on the dance floor and no need to mess with dmx.
    As a DJ for over 10 years. Not one time during the consultation has a B&G asked if I have moving heads or wash lights. The big light show is all in our head guys! These get nothing but compliments from photographers, look professional (I can’t stand green laser dots on a brides dress), and let you focus on the dance floor.
    Excellent vid my guy! As a solo op, this is the go to light system hands down.

    I've actually been thinking about getting one of these! Yea, in my experience you only really need to start getting into DMX once you get some uplights, and moving heads....went my first 7 years DJing without DMX until I had to because I got 2 intimidator spot 150's that kept shinning on the back wall! DMX is great to get all of those different kinds of fixtures working together! great video man!

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 2 lety

      I think you'd want an assistant too right? I feel like DMX needs someone paying attention to it. I like these. Plug em in, good to go

    • @tonylackie
      @tonylackie Před 2 lety

      @@AaronStrawn not always. I bring an assistant with me to every event...but he doesn't do anything DMX wise....the current tools make it a lot easier for us to mix and do the lights... I've used soundswitch (which I'm not a fan of anymore) but using My DMX Go and My DMX 3.0 make it super easy!...if you want to go crazy with the lights I'm sure it would help, too have somebody else. But you can do alot of cool stuff easily without somebody else lol

      I run my up-lights with a remote. I have the Rockville Best Par 50s and they can Wi-Fi talk to each other. So if you set them correctly, whatever you do to the light closest to you, they all do. Works fine for my needs. I would only DMX moving heads if you want to get that synched show down pat.

    I think the wash lights are becoming more desired/acceptable for wedding DJ lights. Preferred by the photographer, videographer, and the couple. This is coming from someone with two moving head lights currently thinking about going back to a simple T-bar wash 😂

      Yes, I agree, some of us who started with metal halogen par cans, T-bar, and a 4ch controller get it. We fased them out for flashing colored dots, but Now with LEDs wash effects are back and more versatile.

    The one thing I like about these is the LOOK. It's more simple compared to other T-Par setups. The others have a bunch of visible LED diodes and look hella busy. This thing has four basic and CLEAN looking lights. In a wedding photo, they won't be an eye sore.

    I’ve been exclusively using this as my dance fixture for weddings since 2016. I now use soundswitch with them because a lot of the time I’m running wireless uplights too. I’m going to take off the covers this week to see if I like the less beamy effect more.

    I love the Dotz TPar lights. Two possible bad things about them are their brightness and they are heavy beasts. IF you dmx them, you can get the brightness down, but I don't think you can with just the remote. SO it is best to aim them at the ceiling and they will literally light up the entire room. They are heavy and the case to me seems a bit bulky. Other than that, I love these lights.

      @AaronStrawn  Před 2 lety

      Yes. I found myself liking the wash look over the "party" look of the Move (actually sold it). BUT, right now, I use 7 ape lab sticks for my lighting

  • @armisrx1801
    @armisrx1801 Před 2 lety

    Great vid, but i noticed you also use ApeLabs uplights such as Maxis.. did you ever try to put four of them on a T Bar? Im thinking of doing that instead of buying this, since i always end up having 3-4 to spare, as my events are smaller.. what do you think? I still like the round "dot" look of these.. so im not sure if i should splurge, as its only $500..

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 2 lety

      I don't think they would look good hanging on the TPar cause of the silver and colors. Plus, that would cost like double to do that

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Před 2 lety
