- This video is Part 6 of 6 for the e-Lectures series of NUS Chemistry CM3292 experiment titled "Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) of Inorganic Anions".
Contents:
Reversed electroosmotic flow (EOF)
EOF modifiers
The migration rate of cations, anions and neutral species
By the end of this e-lecture, students will be able to:
1. Discuss how to modify the experimental design of CE in order to reverse the EOF.
2. Explain the migration rate and migration order of cations, anions, and neutral species, under the condition of Reversed EOF.
Thanks for watching :)

it's called a perfection ... i am a college student from sudan .. thx alot
I'm a pharmacy student from Greece struggling with Pharmacy analysis class. Thank you very much for making it easier for me to understand. Great video very helpful!!
i am a college student from Indonesia, and was really hard to understand my lecturer explanation about this, but by looking to ur nice videos, i really understand to this part now. Thank you, sir! really confident to face the exam tomorrow! Thank you once again, Sir Francis! love
@Febriyanti Siahaan, thank you for watching the video. Glad that the video created was helpful :)
THANK YOU so much for this video series, especially for explaining the reversed flow and how the electroosmotic flow modifiers work, your presentation explained it better than a book on the subject of capillary electrophoresis I spent a couple of hours reading.
thank you ssoooooo much for these episodes
Superb presentation....well explained...
Amazingly simplified explanation , keep up , I am waiting for more video , this is how the explanation should be ,this indicates that you really master what you explain , God bless you .
perfect!!!
Very helpful , thank you 🤟
Thank you 😍
Hey! Im a pharmacy student from Thailand. I just want to say thank you so much for all video about CE. It really help me to understand about my senior project that I will get in the next semester 🙏🏻🙏🏻 thx u sir! 😀😀
Hey! @Supasak Boonprachern, you are welcome :)
I was so confused and didn't get this at at my lectures but these videos has really helped me understand. Thank you so much!
Hi @Rebecka Eriksson, thanks for watching. Glad that the videos help :)
That's called perfection 👍
Really great explanation
Thanks a lot 😊
thank you so much for this lecture series! I was wondering if you could make a lecture series on mass spectrometry? I love your videos and they're helping me so much!
Great job on this series. I've watched them all, and learned a lot. For this episode, I guessed that perhaps lowering pH would reverse the flow. What would lowering the pH do, would it stop the flow?
Thank you very much, Sir. I really appreciate your videos pretty much. I am looking forward your future videos, sincerely.
Hi @juan tang, thanks for watching. Glad you like them!
Super sir..💟
Tq Dr Francis..your explanations are very clear....u help me a lot!!
@Nur Idayu Mat Ghani, thanks for watching. Glad that the video helps :)
Excellent and perfect ,thank you very much
✨💖
You are most welcome. Thank you so much for your compliment.
Excellent and perfect, thank you very much
💖✨
Many thanks
thanks man i loved your videos they are great! (student biomedical laboratory)
Thank you @yasser s :)
Thank you for your video. 👍
I have a question. In lecture 2, silica surface charge can change by pH of buffer solution.
So if i change pH of buffer 7.7 to 3, EOF could be reversed?
Hi,
Thanks for your video but I have a question regarding the voltage applied. What would happen if we apply + 30kV, positive voltage, to the reversed electrophoresis at 4:20 ?
Will it reverse the EOF toward the cathode instead the anode even with the CTAB?
Thanks
I like your explanation
Thank you, @Socheata Heng. Glad that you like it :)
Very nice and easy explanation
Hi @Soodi Khan, thank you very much for your kind words. Thanks for watching.
Thankyou so much sir for all your video on CE. In my lab, we have agilent 7100 CE machine. I want to learn how to operate the whole system. Can you please make the video. It will really help me.
Hi @Ruchi Dagar, thanks for watching.
For a quick start, you may refer to this video here created by Robin Stoodley from UBC: czcams.com/video/102gXzAVJ-8/video.html
For more details on how to operate the machine, we usually refer to the user manual of the instrument: www.agilent.com/cs/library/usermanuals/public/G7100-90000_CE_System_User_ebook.pdf
Alternatively, you may contact Agilent's engineers too.
Sir why here in Reveere osmotic flow neutral sps remain unaffected?
Nice bro
Thanks bro
The direction of flow seems reverse! an I wrong!? It should be toward negative not positive!
This is another type of CE, which it reverses the migration of the ions. If you watch his other videos, it's always towards the negative.
Hi @Trang Nguyen, thanks for watching, and thank you very much for helping to answer @Hojjat Rostami's question. Yes, you are right :)
Hi @Hojjat Rostami, thanks for watching. In this video, reversed electroosmotic flow (EOF) was discussed. Under reversed EOF conditions, the direction of EOF is toward the anode, which is more favorable when analyzing anions as the anions will be eluted out of the capillary first, as compared to the cations and the neutral species.
In the case you mentioned, I believe you were referring to the normal EOF conditions. Please kindly check out the Part 2 of my e-lecture series on Capillary Electrophoresis for more details: czcams.com/video/3X-ZSdF9hWg/video.html
Thank you. Hope this helps clarify :)
