I've just spent the last 20 minutes unknowingly having two Autechre live sets playing on different tabs. All these sounds were coming through at different BPM and different time signatures. I was thinking , this is so chaotic, even for Autechre, they must have been determined to challenge the audience. At no point did I ever question that what I was listening to was a live Autechre show, though.
I remember listening to (I think) Jaga Jazzist and accidently left a game trailer running on Steam in the background. Thought they just really liked that specific audio for some reason lol.
After about twenty years of listening to Autechre, I still only 'get' about the first decade's worth, up to about Confield. They are the only band I"ve ever found whose musical progress consistently outpaces my listening progress, and I find I have to just leave this stuff on in the background for hours on end before I can get a handloe on it.
Took me almost twenty years to get into their later stuff as well, I really couldn't stand anything past LP5 and even that one I only halfway liked. Then couple years ago I ended up listening to "Exai" and somehow it all started clicking little by little.. Especially CD2 on Exai I feel like has a very nice balance of musical vs experimental. Confield I actually ended up "getting" only after Exai, Quaristice , Oversteps and Untilted. Exai still remains my favorite from their post 90s phase. Now I think there isn't a single bad album of theirs, except maybe "Plus" is a bit on the weaker side with some lame tracks in it.
@@Broformist @desryan1603 I think the track that sums up exactly what you're referring to, for me at least, is Pen Expers. I was a die hard Autechre fan at the time, and would just skip that song early, sometimes even pissed off about all that stupid random noise. It took YEARS before that song played in the background and suddenly... I got it. After that lightbulb moment, and ever since, I see that song as beautiful, nostalgic.
Thats funny because I started at Confield and would blow my brain out with it until i got to my 3rd Calculus class 4 years later and i could derive in my head.
Saw them in Dublin during this tour. Must've been about 17 and felt like I was bombing it through space. Beautiful experience. Same again for the exai tour 2 years ago (?). Absolute heroes.
There are so many amazing elements of these 05 sets. My god. It is hard to point out any particular favorites but the motif of the end of LCC coming in so gloriously around 25 minutes is one of my favorite moments in Autechre history as is the entirety of what they do with "IO" here. I cannot believe what I am hearing at times, when the second Shepard Tone melody comes in "IO" there contrasted with the craziness of the drums it brings me to a state of ecstasy that is unlike anything else I swear.
u have been visited by a fartechre fairy. tell 5 people the correct spelling of their albums or you will contract the zika virus from an interdimensional swamp mosquito
Major highlight of an iconic career. THANK YOU so much for posting this!!! There’s also a raw file version with no crowd or room sounds up out there too.❤
Love the intro beat/track , perfect way to open the set... this whole set is just ... wow! I'm glad I waited this long to listen to Autechre properly, because it's such a Good surprise. Any recommendations about where to start, please feel free to let me know. I wanna buy some of their CD's. Cheers
Yeah, good advice, Lol. I actually 'started' with 'Amber' , I listened to it all the way through on YT and really liked it! 'Silverside' and 'Slip' stood out for me. But yes I will start again from the beginning. Cheers for reply. Enjoy
Tri Repetae is fairly easy to get into, and it's excellent despite being one of their most "accessible" albums. Try to snag a copy of the North American version (Tri Repetae++) because it includes a bonus disc with two really great EPs. But starting from Amber and going through their discography chronologically is also awesome because you can witness their evolution. They don't have any bad music so just purchasing CDs at random (like I did) works as well B]
Idk if this is irrelevant for you at this point, but at least for me, everyone told me to start with Tri Repetae and I tried like 5 times to listen through it but it wouldn't click for me. So I brushed it off as me not liking Autechre. Then on a whim I threw on LP5 bc I had a copy of it and I was immediately hooked. Listen around to different eras and what not. If you don't like it just throw a different album on. If you dig this, you might as well just listen to Untilted, it's harsh and glitchy and noisey and incredible. LP5, Draft 7.30, and Confield are also some of my favorites that I find myself listening through all the time.
Amazing set, this was for Elektra at Usine C, no? best sound (i've heard) by far of all autechre's shows in montreal (and the one in winnipeg). surround, amazing speakers. well done sound guys! so how was this recorded? really well balanced. thanks for posting!
i plan to use just a laptop, midi controller (cme bitstream) and a mackie audio interface. rather than carting all my stuff around the place, i could just turn up with my backpack. its because now you can get solid state drives? is this why?
Sounds like remixes of tracks from the Untilted album, which is what I'd expect from them. However, at the 53 minute mark I hear the track IO so who knows.
There is a soundboard recording of this era live set?? Where the fuck? I only have some "amni master" thing of Glasgow where quality leaves a bit to be desired, highs being too harsh.
@@subblimmit Being a fan of the band for more than 20 years, I listened to this mix a long time ago, 15 years ago. I still hoped that this track was released somewhere, at least on a bootleg.

Keep going - it all makes sense in the end.
When 11:14 hits you so extremely polyrythmical only autechre could comprehend to make you groove.

Unbelievable set. So glad there's such a great recording of it.
same set as glasgow 2005, that youtube video has better upload

Still my favorite live set great recording. I was lucky to hear it live in the Netherlands. Cheers!
Some of their finest work
You are now aware that Autechre's album is called "Untilted", not "Untitled".
You are welcome!

Or IO or i0 or I0 or iO or I0. Love that one. Atari styled limited digit morphed words. Alien/robotic like yet more human than human
The part from 16:50 to 30:00... I could listen on repeat for days.
huge cold beats as I like

I was also there hehe, what a great show; you can hear my voice saying "Le son?" at 2:54 haha
Wow, amazing version of that tour, never heard this one, thanks !

Maybe, sounds like a remix of all Untilted together... Also, the first track could be somehow related to the second part (around 2:00) of pro radii

christ on crutches. Ae at their finest! llllllllllllhllllllove.
Great set, have you a download working link? Can't find this one on archive org
wtf is this second song?! so rad!
@25:27 lcc remix is sick
After about 1:10:00 seems more improvisational
9:37 doom doom dodoom tah tah tah
anybody knows the tracklist?
last bunch of sounds is related to Sublimit imo
Nope, not lcc. it's Augmatic Disport, fellas.
why haven't they release the track at 35:00 😭
I know bro. It's pure bliss. The whole set is a 100 out of 10 but I keep coming back to listen to just that bit.
no tracklist there...it is a live-set...
:o
one of them is a pelato....
I have always suspected I chose the wrong username. Love AE X

I feel sad for those asking for the tracklist in live recordings… total archive panic going on with ae
51:05 for example Quarstice's IO is flared up with chiastic slide style scratch wash board/bicycle wheel spoke patterns.
This is very similar to the Glasgow art school bootleg
I think this tempo is slightly lower than the soundboard.. or I'm crazy. the soundboard recording speeds up just slightly in the first 15 seconds
The set they played at Glasgow School of Art does indeed speed up as you describe :)

okay i'll be that guy ... track list, anyone?
most of the stuff they play live never makes it to the studio albums. there are 2 or 3 tracks from the eponymous album and IO from quaristice

how does one pronounce their name ?
earthwatcher2012 aw-tek-er / that's how they say it anyway. they've said they don't mind if people pronounce it how they want though
oh very cool brother! Thank you. I was saying it like : au-tesh'-ray since 1995 when I saw Second Bad Vilbel on 120 Minutes
bloopteshuh
It's pronounced dog-house
jam like ah-tekker
Untilted? Sounds tilted enough to me!
