**VIDEO SPOILERS BELOW**
Squishcraft Review, starting with what I liked:
- Squishcraft is wildly innovative for a puzzle game. I can’t believe nobody has thought of a game that explores the limits and consequences of squishing boxes together. The mechanics of squishing, lasers/mirrors, moving boxes, spiky/fragile boxes, screen wrapping, and box expansion (what I’ll call the checkerboard grid) work together seamlessly. Nothing feels forced or out of place.
- The ability to squish 3 boxes into 2 and the fact that mirrors change angles when squished provide so much interesting depth to the game. These add an element of problem solving alongside the puzzle solving.
- While it’s certainly not for everyone, I personally loved the difficulty curve. The game respects your ability to strategize and experiment with the different mechanics. This ensures that each of the game’s many puzzles can still provide a wildly unique challenge.
- Every single non-box-shuffling puzzle (explained later) was incredibly clever and fun. Very impressive puzzle design from what appears to be a first time dev.
- The insanity of the artwork matches the insanity that is the gameplay perfectly. Plus, I agree with the notion that the crude art actually helps the game mechanically, as more detailed art would have been unreadable when squished.
- If you’re really into the game, Squishcraft hides a lot of deranged secrets in plain sight. There’s plenty to hunt for if you’re bored.
What I didn’t like:
- This game is at its weakest when it forgoes the uniqueness of its mechanics in favor of puzzles whose main difficulty is shuffling around boxes without squishing. It’s frustrating when figuring out what to squish is easy, but how to set up the boxes pre-squish is hard. There’s literally thousands of free puzzlescript games whose difficulty is pushing around 2D boxes. The idea has become so saturated that the only way to make box pushing puzzles interesting anymore is to introduce some crazy mechanic (like rule manipulation in Baba Is You, recursion in Patrick’s Parabox, squishing in this game, or even replacing boxes with cylinders and bringing in 3D like Stephen’s Sausage Roll or A Monster’s Expedition). It doesn’t help either that there’s no interesting way to commentate on the tedious process of shuffling boxes around.
Overall Rating: 8/10 (Great)

Actually excited to see if the dev would make Squishcraft 2. Seeing how the puzzles are wildly innovative, I don't think he squeezed out all of his creativity yet with this game. I mean, who says no to another catgirl?
But this game should have +2 points for making Tyler put his face in the thumbnails
I am always bummed to see Tyler's review in the comments because it typically means the end of a series I hope this game ends on a bang

@@pirilon78 not wrong honestly, the best part of watching him play puzzle games is how quickly he can see some solutions, and just do it. Other times he can't figure it out when I'm sitting there just screaming about how the solution is right there. This game just seemed frustrating for both of us. Surprised it got such a high rating honestly.

Honestly even though they're worse for commentary, I would totally watch a special video of you finishing the last few levels in this game. For some reason the absolute chaos has just been exactly what I needed recently.

I personally loved this game, and I’m glad you enjoyed it too! The concept is incredibly interesting, and the appalling graphics kinda add to the charm :D

I honestly thought there was much more they could have explored that they didn’t. I think the game should have been a little longer with difficult puzzles being only at the very (also slightly fewer puzzles focused on the simple pushing boxes part as Tyler has said)
I mean, the game is a little longer and has levels 999 and 9999, the "100%" at the end is a joke 100% to hide the existence of some secrets really

While I hate to see this go as it has been one of my favorite puzzle games of yours to watch, I also completely understand. While the videos are always fun for us, thanks to your wonderful editing team, we don't see the time or expend the mental energy you have to in order to commentate on top of solving the puzzles. I look forward to seeing the next puzzle game and the rest of the Golden Idol. Keep it up.

I love this series. I nearly didn't click the first video as the thumbnail was so wild but this was one of the most surprising puzzle games I've seen. Looks like nothing until you dive in then you're neck deep before ya know it.

i am generally not much for platformers, but there is a great puzzle platformer called 'sometimes you die'
