The Turm III is literally one of my favourite tanks in War Thunder. I had finished making the video for this tank in 5 matches and then just couldn't stop playing it.
The Turm III is a Rank 5 Premium Tank for the German Tech Tree. It has the same L7 Cannon as the Leopard but also a 30mm autocannon strapped to the turret for good measure!
The 30mm cannon has a max penetration of 53mm and plenty of ammo to boot. That means Light Tanks and SPAA's are food for this thing so long as they aren't paying attention.
The main feature though, is this things L7A3 autloading 105mm cannon that has some of the best gun handling in the game. With a max gun depression of 12 degrees this thing can fight on defilade like no other.
It's absolutely awesome!

Hey odd just wanted to say that you’ve helped me get better at this game by practicing not fully stopping before getting gun on target, especially for stable platforms like the panther F. Has certainly gotten me dozens of kills since I learned not to stop!
But it's much harder to do with the Soviet, most of their tank don't have a stabilizer but once you learn how to adjust the gun using the tank brake without stopping completely, you would be unstoppable especially with that armour
Finally someone with 2 braincells to understand that the sabot is better and more reliable to use than the heat. Thank you!

After some playing with Leo1 I realized that as well. Have to admit though there are trade offs - long range sniping is way easier to dial down with sabot but it loses a lot of pen.
Heat=easy sabot= effective
The shell shatter mechanic just makes me wanna kms I still use apds rather than heat I only use heat when I see russian heavy tanks
I look at the Turm III as a gun platform disguised as a tank. It gives up protection for being able to put hellish amounts of firepower downrange and has respectable speed to find positions to do it. The 30mm is so much utility- it chops up aircraft or helis, riddles lighter vehicles, disables tracks/guns on heavier ones if you need to buy time.
The Turm III or Erprobungsträger mit 3-achs-stabilisiertem Turm as it’s official name, is a actually heavily modified Leopard 1

So as a turm 3 player myself i can just say either you destriy the entire enemy team or you get 1 maybe 2 kills abd then get destroyed

You forgot to mention that Gaijin is very likely to raise this tank to one BR higher once enough people have purchased it, as they do with nearly all premium and reward tanks.
I don't think they really could raise the BR. Not without thermals, laser rangefinder, etc. It already gets very difficult when up tiered to 9.0 against Merkavas
@@luke1119411 They can and probably will... Gaijin doesn't take balancing seriously and literally only look to their precious (but often misleading) sTaTiStiCs god for answers.

@@DecidedlyNinja I disagree. The Leopard gets NVDs, rangefinder, smoke, and DM23. The only advantage that the Turm really has is the 30mm. Not sure how that alone makes it better.

Good points though. Looking over the Turm's stats again I realize I had some misapprehensions about it. I still think it's at least equivalent to the Leo though.

I bought the Turm for myself and my best friend and on the first session of playing together we got into a full uptier and I got a nuke and delivered it. I brought the alouette so it was a 9.3 uptier.

The whole turret being a giant ball joint is really funky, but I kinda like it. Whenever I see the whole thing tilt up, my brain has to do a bit of a double take.
I still dont understand, why dont we have some maps/mods, where one side would have to defend and the other attack, something like rush in battlefield. Would solve this issue with spawn camping, atleast for defenders.
All I have to say is that Irish Tank Man ( The Chieftain ) would argue from a logical and reality standpoint having a 30mm or 20mm coaxial cannon/machinegun compromises the rest of the tank in terms of ammo capacity storage space for said ammunition and makes the tank larger then it would otherwise need to be in terms of turret size. If you want a real life example of such things look at the AMX 30 and it's variants over it's lifetime of service went from a 7.62mm coaxial to a 12.7mm then to a 20mm coaxial and back down to 50 cal after the 20mm gun had the exact problems I listed off above yes it's cool but practical realities determined it to be a lethal but impractical weapon to mount as a secondary in a tank turret.

So in retrospect, this crafting event was likely the worst one they have made so far. Truly sad they don’t take any criticisms of it and improve, and instead just make it less rewarding for the same insane amount of grind.
I strongly believe that gun handling is the key thing that makes or breaks a tank, mobility I can deal with my First Nation was Britain, gun handling though is so important for shooting on the move in particular
In the german tank museum in Munster. There is a Marder 2 prototype and its gun can change from 20mm to a 30mm and back.

I don't have that experience with the T-72 you mentioned at the start, but it's more likely that I just haven't noticed it. I don't have top-tier in any nation other than USSR, so I don't have anything to compare it against.

instead of slowing down the time for win/lose it should pause the end of the match and the plane must no longer be flying or the bomb must go off although the result should be altered if you kept the game from ending on time like a pyrrhic victory if it goes off if you would have lost with more equal rewards or something and there needs to be a short time limit on the nuke bomber to keep it being used to draw out the game
This is the best, most unique premium Gaijin have added in years, in my opinion
Hey odd not sure if you’ll see this but could you try out the strv-74 in the Swedish tech tree? It’s got a good sabot as a modification and is surprisingly fun to play in the right circumstances

When a plane or Helicopter is destroyed it shouldn't be able to do anything, it's a pity the tanks when destroyed couldn't shoot for a couple of seconds after. But what a tank the Turm III is, thanks Oddball.

Only premium I've ever bought. Love it.
I think the only reason this to be 8.0 so it has a lineup, but still ends up on 8.3 or 9.0 anyway since the only other nation that strong on 8.0 is China, and the US.
Also the full "glass cannon" thing just isn't works for me, despite i like my WMA301 witch somehow just works well, but any plane or helicopter is "happy so see me" in them (not to mention IFVs). So I'm eyeing with the TAM 2IP instead.
If they could figure out how to do the 3rd plane of stabilization, this tank would be the absolute ultimate sniper tank as your crosshair would always be level, no matter the grade upon which you sat. Especially with that 12° of depression, hull down sniping would be disgusting

I shot one of these square on the hull cheek from ~100m with 100mm apds, got "non penetration" and then he shot me.

Odd what's your opinion on auto laser range finder? I am lacking ranging skills when I go back to anything other than lobbing HE/HEAT (Sturmpanzer2 is best tank) or AFPSDS without LR... I was kinda sad that war thunder made me use that feature in order to be on par with other players, that actually brought my overall skill down, and it doesn't even work 30% of the time
If you want to learn to be great at the game. Get the US M41A1 and build a 6.0 lineup. Play it religiously and if you can get good with the Bulldog at 6.0 you can literally handle anything. It will force you to aim for weak spots with a gun that doesn't do great damage.
If that's too hardcore, use the M5A1 and US 2.7 lineup.
Tricks to ranging...
1. Range with binos before you crest hill... you will have range by the time you push into firing pos.
2. Look at the map grids and cap ranges you can get a good estimate especially when father than your rage capability.
3. If your first shot is short remember what range mark line the shell landed on then place that mark a tiny bit above the target... guaranteed scene shot hit.

I wish it wasn’t not fully completed the stabilization is supposed to be a 3 plane stabilizer and it’s not. You are supposed to be able to go pretty much sideway on your track and the turret doesn’t move.

The coaxial 30mm should have APFSDS ammo. Missed opportunity. If I'm paying premium, I expect premium treatment and pure "pay to win"...

The reason why War Thunder doesn't do it that way is because, almost fun.
