i’ve lived in Az since 75, moved her with my family from Alaska when i was 6. I have to say it never ceases to amaze me, the history in Arizona. i never heard of this shootout, but i did hear of a gruesome, robbery/murder in Ruby where the post office/store was robbed and the bandits busted out the gold teeth of the shopkeepers wife before killing her. thanks for your story, i will subscribe and thumbs up.
Great story, as always.
Really cool
Like all the positive comments you have received, I look forward to your stories with great anticipation.
Enjoyed that story very much.
Everything and everyone is connected.
Thanks for another great story.
From what I have studied about old west gunfights is this; most of them occurred from behind such as Jack McCall shooting James Butler Hickok, Booth shooting Lincoln at Ford's theatre, John Westley Hardin shot in the back in the Acme Saloon by John Selman and the list goes on... Another interesting story that fills in my view of the Arizona frontier.
Not gunfights but certainly assassination's. Jesse James death also comes to mind.
I LOVE your shows!
Great storytelling thoroughly enjoyed watching, Thank You.

Another good one guy’s!👍🏻
Luv this channel!
Thank u Hank. Bad words, ending with bad actions.
This happened in Florence, but the title says it took place in Florence Junction.
Thank you for mentioning this,,, I was struggling to make sense.. I drive through Florence Junction every day there's nothing there anymore if there ever was but maybe a stop place to meet.
@Hank Sheffer it was a easy mistake and it didn't hurt the story at all.. Keep em coming guys!
Thank you sir
You should check out Adamsville.
Awesome
🤣 The random gunshots going off while he's telling the story made me be jump a couple times lol 😅
When men were men... and women were glad of it!
BEST DAM CHANNEL ON CZcams ! ! ! ! ! !

I was surprised to hear the mention of Turbicio Vasquez, wow, 👍
Thanks again for great true story. Yea tht devil is a pain in thee Asss for sure
I own a house next to the old courthouse. Back then it was a horse stable. It is where Josephus "Joe" Phy died.
As if an Age of History, representing a period of many, and many facets, meeting Head On, and that Age of History finally passing.
I bet the 17 yrs old had something to do with it. Good story.
Is the Tunnle saloon still standing?
Just because I haven't told anyone does not mean I have not found the Dutchmans Mine .......
I know this is irrelevant buuuuuut in the movie Rockstar direct movie quote, "What's wrong with him"? "His wife's run off with Peter Gabriel". 😂🤣😂 AMAZING STORYTELLER 🙌🙌🙌
*_I really enjoy this channel. I wonder was there such a thing as a D.A back the because on TV it seems like the sheriff is the one prosecuting crimes. I came here from Ireland in the 90s as a teen & I'm a history buff. When did gun laws come along in AZ or did these flow down from D.C? I believe these pistols came out of the factory for a time, with the trigger guard like this, but either a lawsuit or potential lawsuit forced them to stop producing them. They were still been used in Chicago by the mob in the 30s & 40s._*
Gabriel was one tough hombre! I wonder what he's doing today?
My grandparents live in AJ and they speak with the same idk the word for it.... Flow? They speak with the same flow and rhythm as these 2 guys. Perhaps it would be because of their similar age and living around the same area around the superstition mountains
Everyone looses, cause we all die someday
Andy was a WW2 gunner on the Iowa. He liked Ruger and got the big pistol and other fine guns for the gun rack that Bruce and I built in Mr Rawley's wood shop in 7th grade. Bruce was the fastest motorcycle rider in the country as a kid had the fastest reflex I ever saw...He came home from work and Andy had a knife and Bruce's wife was holding him off... He reached to the cabinet by the front door. Then Andy's house disappeared to a lawyer and Bruce was given time served ... So do you really want a gun ?
I love the old West. Did both shooter's have 2 pistols?
The guy that survived, definitely won. There can be no question about it. It's obvious to anyone who listened to the story.
I have a list of the people I knew ...They went to the Palace Bar....
The devil has had too many laughs over the ages, Hank. Will be good when he no longer has anything to laugh about.
Giant ingots of silver.
1972 Prescott realtor Rudy Beder had a son coming home from the rigors of Viet Nam .. 2 tours in a fine Marine Corps elite kill squad and such ..we set up his Olympic weight set as usual and went to work with my neighbor in his porch.. We broke up and he wanted to go to the Palace Bar and dance and have a few brewskies ... And he almost made it home.. except for the guy who shot him and half my graduating class in that god damned saloon... Playing John Wayne er sumthin. I'm the biggest guy in town and a known trickshot... I've worked the big ranches as hired gunman and chased rustlers and murderers all over the Bradshaw's clean out to Seligman and Len Collins Double O ... I rode with Ringo on ORO and he killed more men than all history in those two big wars. There were another 52 employees just about the same . I can't imagine anyone thinking they'd steal a cow and get out alive. Not a jury would convict any of Colonel Greens men... I was out of the marines guarding Kissinger and Chase as US Ambassador bought the ranch and we went to a higher mode altogether . Now I think of all the times I've hoisted a beer wearing speed draw magnum pistols and when I was around people behaved ... As I got older I can't believe I've almost made it to my three score and ten... And I never shot anyone nor has anyone shot me ... I'm seven feet in my boots and it's been 20 years since I gave away all the artillery... But I got a big bore air rifle . Stoner configuration . No flash ...no sound ... No phone calls ... No laws ...no police ... No hassle .. silencer laws only affect firearms. Fits in a briefcase ... Drives tacks at 50-100-200 ... Really nice for pigs deer medium game. Mine is 357 diameter but the .72 they are hunting African game.. Really big stuff...with a BB gun... And you can blow it up with a tire pump .. So as long as you can find and melt lead you have food. Seriously it's the last gun I ever want except those full auto BB pistols... Now that's a riot ... And ya can't hurt anybody... Today they have closed that stinkhole bar and children have quit trying to emulate their TV fantasy heros.. by shooting each other to death... Only a restaurant remains as the number of alcoholic war heros crawling back to the drunk program up those tracks where a few passed out and learned not to let trains drive over you in yer sleep... But there's still plenty of other places to shoot it up ... If yer that stupid and absolutely must... Oregon Museum Tavern... SW M59 two clips... Every round killed and wounded someone.. Got a peek of him after 8 years in a cell on thorazine... He was blowing bubbles
I built a cell tower at Florence junction
He may have intentionally drank poisoned water. If he was tormented by taking the life of a former friend. Just an idea on his motive
Florence is my home. Thank you for the story!
I live next to Ruggles home. (The ruins of it)
I don't like it very well when you can hear Satan laughing, cause I wrote a song about laughing at the Devil, I like that a lot better, go look it up, you'll like it too. Ha-Ha Devil.
@Hank Sheffer It worked good for me, But if you want the Devil to win just take a little biased hatred & pour in some alcohol. That's the mix the Devil loves best. This happened a lot on the frontier.
The tunnel saloon is currently a marijuana dispensary and there is no evidence of a tunnel or basement but I guessing this was filled in a long time ago.
Actually, there's a question of which way the tunnel went. But yes it was filled in when the sewer lines went in.
