    As a theatre employee, this sounds like a nightmare to be in charge of. I can imagine the screaming now. Either your boss is gonna be mad you let 2 or 3 people in or the customer chews your head off. Lose Lose Situation

      Oh man I'm the opposite I'd kill everybody with kindness. "Sorry sir/ma'am your inability to show up on time will disrupt the people who have. We can transfer your tickets to another showing if you'd like." Followed by them arguing. Me saying "I don't make the policies I just enforce them" then send them to my manager. And I'd do this with a smile on my face the whole time like the Covington kid lmao

      You can enforce it a specialty theater like the arclight but you can't have 20 people watching the door at a Megaplex with 20 screens.

    I agree with this policy for the general public theaters. Especially on a opening weekend. Its hilarious that people walk in 10 mins into the movie & folks look around in shock theres no seats

  • @diefty94

    Nope. If you were late it's your problem, i hope more theatres apply this policy. There are no downsides for anyone who can get to places on time.

    I do not mind people coming in late (assuming their phones are off). What I mind is sitting in a half empty (or half full) theater w/o assigned seating and having someone sitting down right in front of me or next to me.

    I remember growing up when we got to the theatre there would be an usher find you seats and when that door was closed there was no getting in late and concessions would close down part way into the movie.

    How is someone showing up late any worse than someone going to the bathroom?

    • @funguy8801
      @funguy8801 Před 5 lety

      It's probably not. But you're more likely to have about 20+ people showing up slightly late, all around the same time as each other, causing a larger disruption. It's less likely that so many people would all decide to get up at the same time together to go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie. But I get your point.

  • @TMBTM
    @TMBTM Před 5 lety +3

    Honestly, I prefered the good old days of "first here, first served" with people at the entry telling you that they can't sell tickets anymore because the movie started 5 minutes ago (people were not mad at it, because they KNEW they were late and that it was their fault if they could not see the movie), I also liked people coming TO YOU selling you candies ONCE you're in the room just before the movie started, RED CURTAIN opens, no smartphones... There are also pros for internet advanced selling of course ( I'm not always the "grumpy old man"!) but except bigger screens and better sits, every other aspect of the movie experience is lost to me. Hell, when my mom did go to movies, there were two movies for the price of one with magic numbers by artists in between, lol. Next year you'll need to bring your own toilet paper...

    If someone is using their phone during a movie (I'lll give them 10 seconds of leeway), i just lean over and very obviously and visibly start to read their texts, and say things like "nice!" If they are a few rows down, and their phone is on full brightness, I'll throw popcorn at them

    I don’t understand how people turn up late for a film especially in the uk. There are 25 minutes of ads before hand and still you find people walking in ten minutes into the film! That’s 35 minutes after the show time!!! Absolutely ridiculous

    is that the cashier tells us they hey the movie has started for 10 minutes or so

    That's how it is when you see a play. You can't go in after the play starts. I'm glad they're trying to elevate the movie experience. People can be thoughtless and do thoughtless things in the theatre. I prefer sitting in the back row, so no one kicks the back of my seat. I'm glad they're limiting the amount of trailers being shown. Went to see a movie and a girl was spraying a can of disinfectant on her movie seat. She'd sprayed so much the odor was drifting down to the lower seats.

  • @StarBug40
    @StarBug40 Před 5 lety +10

    Maybe it's just me but if for some reason I'm late for a movie and miss any part of it I would rather go to a later session, cause it would annoy me to have missed the start. I must admit I don't understand the whole get yourself seated and then decide to get up and purchase some food or going to the toilet partway through a movie...you're missing the movie you paid to see!? Here's an idea, get food before you go in and make sure you haven't consumed a bucket of liquid before the movie. Okay okay I confess, I am one of those people who hate listening to others munch and slurp their way through a movie. If you wanna eat do it before or after, I don't really want to listen to you masticate...I guess I'm just wired the wrong way?

      I'm the same way too. I eat at home or grab some fast food before the movie, don't drink a lot up to two hours before the showing, go to the bathroom right before the movie, and buy a bottle of water for the movie. I can't remember the last time I left an auditorium to get concessions or go to the bathroom. Oh, yeah, I also turn off my cell phone, because I wouldn't want someone else's ringer to go off or have a blinding light in my face. lol

      Im the same I get disappointed when I miss the trailers lol

    • @giddyup523
      @giddyup523 Před 5 lety

      Not everybody can avoid going to the bathroom even if they don't drink anything and do go right before the movie. I almost also wind up needing to step out and I always use the bathroom before and don't buy soda. I hate missing a little but it's better that than spending 45 minutes in agony and not concentrating 100% on what''s happening. I'd rather miss 2 minutes than spend 45 minutes or whatever at 80% attentiveness and miss probably more than those 2 minutes by not paying attention. Also, while I don't often eat, I never care that others do. That's part of the movie experience for many. Also, if they aren't selling all those snacks and drinks, they aren't making anywhere near as much money and they would have to increase ticket prices. So thank you to those who eat and drink so they don't have to increase ticket prices to break even.

    I'm someone who's obsessed with punctuality. When I go to the Cinema with my family, I'm the one constantly bringing up the time because I don't want to miss out on anything. I don't mind those who come in after the film's screening has begun. I'm more aggrieved by those who talk aloud during the screening or are texting. It is disrespectful.

    I'm okay with people showing up late, though I think that once the final trailer starts, that is when the doors should close. I live 10-15 minutes away from the theatre that I go to. Sometimes there are unexpected snowstorms and/or accidents that make me 5 minutes late.

  • @jeffreyroedel9804

    Can y'all do a video on saving seats. It's so rampant whenever it's not a theater with assigned seats. One or two people saving 4-5 additional seats in prime spots...and their friends are always late....but I'm on time and get a bad seat.

  • @magnum1980
    @magnum1980 Před 5 lety +1

    They should only give you 5 minutes after the time they have on the ticket because they start the trailers not the actual movie at that time even though they should and the trailers should start 5 minutes before the actual start time so the movie starts on time. That 5 minute window should still be fine not to miss the movie and not really disrupt people too much since trailers are still playing or the movie is only about a minute in.

  • @jeffreyroedel9804
    @jeffreyroedel9804 Před 5 lety

    There are so many previews. 20 minutes usually. That's enough of a buffer for stragglers to get in. Once the feature starts, no, people should not be allowed in. Tickets sales online and at the BO should be closed, and those with tickets who walk up later than the previews should be refunded $ or given the option to transfer their purchase to another screening.

    People should be more considerate of others, if they want to text or call someone, walk into the hallway or don’t buy a ticket. Watch it another time when your not using your phone. You should have more time to get to your seat and you should be refunded if the theater is full.

    Fandango is a separate company. It doesn’t have any affiliation with any of the theatres that you buy tickets for. When you try to use a fandango gift card at any theatre chain they will deny you because it’s only valid on the website.

It was so damn annoying and I couldn't even focus on the movie. Why do you even want to see a movie when you missed the first 20 minutes of it?

    This is just authoritarian behavior by people and companies mainly done in coastal areas. I use to live in both northern and southern California but now I am in Utah where almost every theater has stadium luxury recliners with reserved seating. You can come in late but people are generally respectful ....relatively quiet and rarely if ever seen anyone on phones during the movie.

This coming in walking around still happens at the beginning of the movie most times.
