Kyrie Eleison = Lord Have Mercy in Latin. Us old time Catholics heard this every week in Mass.

Kyrie Eleison means "Lord have mercy", envoking God's love for his creation of all Mankind. . God's mercy is Love.... ✌️😎. Peace ❤️.

This was the other hit tune this group had. MTV played them both for a while. Mr. Mister was an American rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, active from 1982 until 1990. The band consisted of Richard Page on lead vocals and bass guitar, Steve George on keyboards/backing vocals, Pat Mastelotto on acoustic and electronic drums/percussion and Steve Farris on guitars/backing vocals Their second album, 1985's Welcome to the Real World-with lyrics from Page's cousin John Lang-was the breakthrough for Mr. Mister. All three singles were in the top 10, two of which hit No. 1 on the U.S. pop charts-"Kyrie" and "Broken Wings".

    "Kyrie"
    Kyrie eleison
    Kyrie eleison
    Kyrie elei
The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
My heart is old, it holds my memories
My body burns a gem-like flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
When I was young, I thought of growing old
Of what my life would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road
Or only wished what I could be?
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
    Whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh
    Whoa-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel (Kyrie, will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night (yeah)
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow? (Will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow? (Will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the light
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel (Will you follow?)
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow? (Will you follow?)

"Kyrie Eleison" is a Greek phrase that is often used in Christian mass (particularly Catholic) meaning "Lord, have mercy". Pronunciation is "KEE-ree-yay ee-LAY-ee-sohn" The entire song is a prayer.
Nowadays kids only know the spelling of the basketball player's name. I've always wondered why his parents did that to him.

I first encountered the term, "kyrie" in the 1968 when Malcom McDowell's character,Travis, in the movie, 'If', listens to a music piece called the 'Missa Luba' which is a Congolese boys choir singing a Roman Catholic mass in their native language and using Congolese instruments. It's a very powerful piece of music and definitely worth a listen.

MOTOWN... When you make your way to "Hitsville" Detroit Michigan.. The body of Excellence Is MASSIVE. So many great groups and songs... But... I strongly suggest your first experience should be this monster that all members of this legendary band has a part in...."The Funk Brothers" were the musicians that made the music at Motown Records. All the groups were primarily Vocals only. There is a long Album version at 11+ mins (Awesome), or the 7 minute Radio version..... The Temptations - "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone"

When compared to the legendary names in your playlist, that set the entire world on fire for decades, with a body of work that will be the standard everyone is compared too forever.... this band is like a firecracker someone lit in the back yard and it went POP. Like so many other bands that had a couple of hits and faded away into history, but never really left their mark on history.

"Any Particular Meaning?"....If you grew up attending Catholic Church services you know those words very well...A brief pause for silence follows. The Priest, or a Deacon or another minister, then says the following or other invocations with Kyrie, eleison (Lord, have mercy): You were sent to heal the contrite of heart: Lord, have mercy..... Now you know.

That’s correct Edgar I didn’t hear him saying it at all. My ears we’re listening for a completely different pronunciation so on my first listen to this song I didn’t hear him saying it.

For 40 years I mis understood the words until recently. Always loved the vocals and instrumentals tho. Now that I know the words, I love the song even more. ✌
