not super sure what will be next. i have a few ideas, but before that, I want to dive back into battle chips.

Colonel Soul is powerful but inflexible, much like the navi it's named after. The soul demands you center your entire folder off it to maximize its impact on the battlefield. You might be forced to use object chips to make use of those soldiers, but your opponent isn't going to have a good time manuevering around you.
Having soldiers with paralysis and buster-scalable tracking bullets means you can stunlock opponents while comboing especially powerful object chips like time bomb and big boy bomb.
Fortunately, object chips are usually * code, so they all synergize well with a variety of other chips, too. You're forced into a niche by committing to Colonel soul, but a niche isn't automatically a bad thing. Counters to object chips are easy enough to counteract, and packing a couple field chips is already recommended anyway.
Seems like a fun option
I find that Colsoul is very flexible, given you learn when and where to place your objects.
The grass heal from WoodBody (THawk Soul) is slowed if you have less than 10 HP (to avoid undershirt cheese like in MMBN4)

Colonel Soul was such a soul crushing disappointment. It's design is so cool and yet it's abilities are so niche and specific that it'll never come up in normal play.
Colonel soul requiring an object chip sacrifice i guess makes sense but was a bit underwhelming

I wouldn't say the soul is so niche, it can't be used in PvP or PvE.
With the paralysis and tracking properties of the soldiers, and the ability to extend soul union, you can make an entire folder off using objects, especially timpani and treble. The * code objects typically have mean they mesh well with any kinds of support chips you'd like to experiment with, but pulsar and big boy bombs are S chips.
The power of soul unison is how flexible and versatile the fusions can be while being a game changer during tough battles. Colonel Soul isn't nearly as flexible in that sense, especially compared to dust soul in 6, but a timpani chip that can serve as a proximity stun vulcan for powerful chips is nothing to sneeze at
@@BubbyBoy But the problem is, that's still way more niche than the other souls. You need to have a setup based on object chips entierly for the solders to work, and turns don't last long enough for arm change to be worth it, at least without SlowGauge (which, why would you use it in the first place?). And there's not enough good object chips that are worth putting in your folder (besides the ones you mentionned), so you'd be filling your folder with chips only to activate DoubleSoul. Most other souls besides maybe Meddy Soul flow better in folders, and are way less situational, especially when S code is incredibly strong in this game.
@Akesan you can extend soul unison's time limit with Soul Time for a maximum of 7 turns

I prefer Team Colonel over Proto Man because of the Double Soul lineup. All of this game's souls, besides the gimmick that is Colonel Soul, are really fun to play around with.
I somehow always felt the opposite. Though, on my playthroughs, I'm often funneled into using Air Spins, Tornados, and Sword Chips, so Gyro and Proto Souls were always my go-to.
@@CronoEpsilon Just in case you don't know, you can force a weakness with Napalm and Magnet Soul even if they aren't natively when you apply grass and sea panels respectively with specific strategies. On the otherhand, Tomahawk and Toad Soul can't do that. In fact, Napalmman is the only Fire Navi in BN5.
My big issue with protoman has always been Meddy/Meddy Soul. There are some great souls in protoman, but Meddy is just garbage. Unless there's some broken meddy strategy I'm not aware of, your essentially down one soul in protoman. Say what you want about Colonel soul, but at least you can do some crazy strategies with it with the right folder.
@@MinkDaddy considering that Colonel is the final Soul and is your reward for reaching that far into the game's story, I cannot help but feel disappointed with how gimmicky and unweildy it is. Especially considering how extremely effective Proto Soul is and how easy it is to build folders for it.

Though it's funny, cause I never felt that way about colonel. I loved colonel soul from the beginning. But I think your feelings are completely valid. It's a more divisive soul.
Colonel Soul ended up being super disappointing, but overall I think BN5 Colonel got the better souls overall.
I know these souls like the back of my hand, since I play Team Colonel 90%, but I never tried to make folders centered around some these souls. And just a passing thought, is there any chance to cover liberation missions from BN 5? Like what each navi's order points skills or strategies to pull of the liberations

I know this is possibly only available in the DS version of Battle network 5 so just a question but are you planning on doing the two crosses that are exclusive to the DS game but Sol cross which requires you have Boktai 2 in the GBA slot (or Boktai 3 in japan) and Bass cross which is accessed by having the GBA version of Team protoman/Team Colonel in the GBA slot.
3:14 Pemdas? I think you typed out the wrong equation if you want the damage to equal that much your equation should be (5 x Attack Level(5) + 5) x 6 = 180 , the way you put it equals
5 x AL(5) + 5 x 6 -------------> 25 + 30 = 55

shadow soul is cool because megaman is holding a katana when using sword attacks
I just found this channel a few days back and I've been addicted am trying to get my friends to play we all love bakugan and pokemon and radekai so I think we would have a good time with battle network but I can find a tutorial that helps with the basics of combat and they refuse to give the game a shot unless I can do that so if you have a tutorial like that pls send
The in game tutorial practically teaches you just about all the basics, games with extra forms also have dedicated tutorials for when you first receive those forms as well as mail that explains the abilities of every new form. Elemental weaknesses are all that’s left at that point. That being said the basics are all there already.
I’ve watched a few netbattles lately, and it seems like Shadow Soul can add a wide sword slash to it’s charge shot. Akin to the katana chips.
You didn’t mention it in the video, so I assume that either A. its a navi cust program, or B. the netbattles I’ve been watching were using mods.

ah no wonder why some stuff felt off... invincibility on front row for knight soul, and back B for free anti-dmg for shadow soul. I didnt point them out coz i thought for PVP those were removed for sake of balance.
Shadowsoul has ability to prevent surface effect?
Are you sure ToadSoul requires sacrificing an Aqua chip? I remember having to sacrifice an elec chip for it.
It's Aqua. Elec chip is for MagnetSoul in Team Protoman
This run thru beat it in 30hrs. It's was like my 10th run thru. They changed some things from the gba game
