It’s literally not even a pride thing.... it’s about learning problem solving skills and not just giving up and paying people to do shit.
Levi Blackwell EXACTLY!!!
Thread the nut on the bolt before you hit it to protect the threads
Derek Adams exactly what I was gonna say, good tip
Was going to say the same thing
Ben Ross Performance Thank you sir
Derek Adams tried that last night after this video... protects the threads a little but that but gets ruined very easily with just a few hits from a hammer...
LOUD 'N' PROUD dang. Sorry man
Congrats on 1 year bro, super proud of you and what youve built, its crazy what can happen in a year, great work brother 💪🏼💪🏼 #TeamLNP
Congratulations Malachi, Thanks for being on CZcams for a year and showing me how to do some good old 12 valve and all around cummins content!
but the front axle on jackstands and use your floor jack and jack your driver size up directly under your coil spring and it'll take the pressure off those control arms! you need to do that anyway or your coil spring will fly out and if you're in the way its dangerous. good work though buddy! you're killin it!
The bolt is seized to the rubber bushing, heat the arm with a torch around the bushing to soften it and if necessary burn the bushing out completely. I have to do it all the time at work. Keep up the great content!!!
I did my 96 control arms, the lower one will push the axle forward centered in the wheel well. I wouldn't say it was the most fun job I did on my truck. I had a hard time removing bolts as well, I finally disconnected both sides of the axle and it seemed to help. I also put the tire back on and used a 5 foot iron pry bar/digging pole to push on the tire to force the axle forward so I could install the new control arms. Remember control arms center front to back, you need to modify the track bar if you want it to be centered left to right under the truck. Good luck bud you'll get it done!
In case you ever run into a similar issue, take the nut and thread it onto the end of the bolt. Then you can hit it without damaging threads. Congratulations on one year man!
Went through the same exact thing on my 12v. Threw new bent upper and lower DOR on. The bolts were frozen solid to the rubber bushings. Didn't have a torch to put heat to it so I had to break out the saw. Took longer than expected but was definitely worth it. Keep up the great videos man!
Man I understand your pain, I have a '97 12v as well and one of the first mods I was wanting to do to it was to mess around with the AFC housing. It took me three and a half to four hours trying to get one bolt out but I couldn't get it. I eventually put the other three back on and waited to save up enough for the proper tools. You do great videos man and I love your content, just be patient, you can do it man!
Happy one year man! I can't wait for what is to come in the future!
Congrats on the success. If you got a torch you can heat up those bolts and then knock him out you changing out the bushings anyways so you don't have to worry about that
Congrats on your first year! Thank you for the clean content you produce. God bless!
Ball joint press works perfectly for taking out bolts like that.
You can get them from parts stores.
on a 5 link suspension (4 CAs + 1TB) you should only change one CA at a time, unless you pull the coils. the axle is going to rotate/twist when you remove an CA and your problem will compound if you remove both on one side. the TB is trying to keep the axle centered left/right and the springs are making the axle roll along is axis. if you had pulled the other side loose you'd be picking up coil springs and broken brake lines... it's not hard, but it takes some work, one CA at a time, one jack to maintain pinion angle so it doesn't roll on you and a set of stands under the axle tubes to keep the axle from moving fore/aft. TB = trackbar, CA = control arm.
Good job bro the channel has come a long way I’ve been here since the beginning and have seen how far you have come keep up the good work
Congrats on 1 year great work, even before this channel BHO was great‼️ #TeamLNP
Crazy to think it’s been a year! I subbed last June and I am so stoked to see how far we have come!
Congrats on the 1 year anniversary! Really enjoy the channel. Keep up the good work!
I put thuren 2 inch coils on my 96 and decided to do the extended control arms as well. I was able to get 5 of the bolts out but had to cut the two camber bolts out and torch one bolt out. The one that I had to torch out was the drivers side upper bolt at the frame. What a pain in the ass it was. As soon as I saw you pull that control arm out of the box I knew you were gonna have problems.
If you have the Jack in the axle pushing up it will put pressure on the bolts and they won't slide out easily and you can use wood in-between your hammer and the bolt and it won't mess up the threads.
Congrats on 1 year!! Love the content
If you use brass to make contact with the bolt as you hit it you won't scar up the threads because brass is softer than metal. They make brass hammers and punches, etc.
Great content man :) Keep it going i love it
Been here longer than I thought! Went back and seen when u posted a few vids. Stopped by when u got your white second gen! Love the videos man. Keep up the hard work and chase your dreams!
Bro I absolutely love your channel, keep it up💪
Congrats on your channel
Feels like it’s been like 5 months to me lol. Congrats on a good year tho man!
Love the vids keep up great content
I know I’m probably 3 weeks late to post a useful comment but you should try a hand held palm nailer. I’m always working on my truck and that tool seems to bag out stuck bolts like butter! 👍🏽
So that bolt goes through a bushing. The bushing has a steel or aluminum sleeve which oxidizes itself right to the bolt. The bolt is most likely going to have to get cut.
Get you an air chisel with a hammer insert to hammer it out, fairly inexpensive from farm supply or tool discount store for a low end one. Would come in handy for many situations but especially when doing suspension work, just got one for myself :)
congrats on 1year hard work
It's looking sick !! Those control arms are clean 👌 sucks that setback though.
Good vid bro!!!!
If you watch some Greg A videos you would learn a lot from his videos with truck stuff
Timothy McCormick awesome man I thought I was the only one that here that new of him.!he certainly knows how to build a truck.
Greg A is literally the absolute best!!! One of the best CZcamsr and a very cool good guy too!!
Midwest rust brother. It sucks. I went through it last fall. Congrats on one year
Congrats on the one year. Get yourself an air hammer with a pointed bit and it'll drive those bolts rite out without messing up the threads. That is what that dimple on the end of the control arm bolts is for. $25 on Amazon can get you a cheap one
Hey this is Chris from New York I have a 97 Dodge Ram 2500 series with a Dana 60 axle I recently snapped the front axle plowing I replace the axle the only way I was able to get those control arms off efficiently without wasting cons of time because it was so rusted in the bushing was to torch the bolts off they were just seized in there from day 1 there's a bushing in the inside and a sleeve that goes around the bolt and it's definitely Rusty welded together lol PS when I bought new bolts I put a little anti seize on them before putting them in LML I have all kinds of air impact guns none of them did anything and a three-quarter breaker bar didn't help much either so I torch them off
Congratulations on your first year and many more to come I’ve been here since the first video
Congrats on one year, ever since I have started watching I have seen nothing but great content keep it up 👍👍👍
Dude look at it. The hardware obviously has a load on it and its not gunna come out. Take the weight off the bolts it will come out and use a little leverage
Love the videos and the trucks . I've probably watch every video keep up the good work
Keep up the good work . I enjoy watching
you'll probably have to cut the bolts off. there is a metal sleeve in the rubber bushing and the bolt gets rusted to that metal sleeve.
You could try to put a nut on the end of the bolt then hit it with a hammer so the threads stay undamaged.
Heat !!!!! Buy a small propane torch, that thing works wonders. Another thing that I do that you can try I usually quit when it gets like that and start the nextr day and it usually goes smoother.
Try twisting around the control arms a little and see if that does the trick. If not get a butane torch.
What’s your outdoors channel? Congrats on the 1 year!!
1 year of greatness, keep it up
Happy one year and great vid #LoudNProudNation #LNPFam
Happy birthday loud n proud keep up the great work!!!!!!
I hit the bolts with the nut threaded flush works great
loving it man!
Congrats on one year, you gotta get that rust worked on though.
Are we gonna talk about easy projects that went bad? I tried to change my antenna and the screw broke right at the body of the truck and the only way to get it out is to take the fender off soooo yeah
I had to torch mine out, it’s pretty common for them to cease up.
Congrats on 58,000 subs man
Those bolts could be threaded in also by breaking them loose by trying to turn them can help good luck
Break out the torch!!
may I ask have you look in custom offset four wheels and tires
Try an air chisel i have used those to get control arm bolts out and they seem to work. Good luck man!👍
1 year ago is when I first saw you... and I’m still here and not going anywhere
I've been here for 11 months, long time went fast.. still love the videos #LoudNProudFam
You coulda thredded the nut back on an hit the nut instead of the bolt. Good video btw hope to see more
Where did you buy those tires?
Get a bigger hammer if that don't work ...Get a BIGGER HAMMER
Did you have the jack on the pumpkin to take some pressure off the control arms it looked like it but it wasn't real visible
those arms also set your caster back to factory specs
Man your so right chase your dreams if u don't like your job it don't get any better as time gose by
Yeah man these trucks have a severe problem with those bolts freezing, my 97 is from New Mexico and I struggled on them. Worse comes to worse you’ll have to cut them and buy new cam bolts and hardware
Congrats...👍👍👍
Use a blowtorch. Works wonders!
dont hit the bolt put a piece of wood on it and hit the wood works wonders and wont mess up the bolt
Corey Potts threading the nut on part way would work better. The wood would only absorb the force and just split.
Put the nut on the bolt and hit the nut, heat the area around the bolt or cut the bolt out of the control arm and order another esentric bolt
gotta love rust. tip get a map gas torch with the big nose end start heating the bushing till its smoking then hammer out bolt it will slide out like butter.
What company were the tires from
Doing uppers and lowers on my duramax been a week still fighting it good luck
Man I love your trucks I wish it wasn’t so hard to find them trucks around here
Just curious not hating but have you guys made plans on getting rust repaired on nasty red?
Good video try some pb blaster it should break up the rust
Whats your perfered truck brand?
So are you taking applications for the Team LNP Gagrage
Listen to your DAD FARM out control arms to a LOCAL shop There headache not yours spend your time driving your trucks not your trucks driving you nuts... Always rust welded, bolt to bushing collet, Sawsall time on bolt or torch , Mine took two days on one bolt,at a local shop, all the while i was warching tv... YOUR TIME is money, they get the blood and PAIN... POPS, on the SHREDDER TEAM. Keep the vids comming, great channel.
Cut the bolts with a Sawzall. That's what I've had to do before.
duckdude018 this is literally last resort lol
Your the best truck channel on the platform
Noah Fox it’s getting there ......,
Good luck with nasty red 💪🏻
They could get worse my dads jeep was hit by an f350 on the side of the road and shredded it up pretty good
Oh LNP I messaged you on Facebook ... Just wanting some editing advice bro 👍
Good video! Sucks they you couldn't get the job knocked out but hey ya can't win them all. Oh and what the Heck happened to Zadok, is he ok?
Would be pretty cool if you had a truck meet sometime. I live in ohio like maybe an hour give or take from fort wayne
that first gen is nice
Put a 2 x 4 in front of it and hit it with a 10lb beater
I have been here since the beginning great jod
