The First 3 Season of DS9 always come out the worst. O'Brien looks alright, but Riker's eyes look REALLY puffy... Also added some 'grain' to the scene so they don't look so waxy/smooth.
What was Jonathan Frakes doing the night before he shot this scene? 😂
*_Anyone else think the newer(ST7
They look more like wax 😂
*_Was thomas in STNG or DS9..??_*
_i feel like i missed that episode..?_
*Or its just been 25years since i saw it lol*
🤔😳😆🤷🏼
#missed_that_one lol
_(I know he ends up with the defiant..?)_
*I definitely remember that*
🧐🤔🤨🤷🏼
Did anyone else feel incredibly bad for O'Brien in this scene? Like we know now that's Thomas and not Will Riker, but seeing Miles being treated badly by someone he thought was an old friend is so sad.
That should have been the first big red flag that that was the Thomas impersonator.
Truly
@@user-oz9ek2yl9nand we love it everytime, cause its about the character and the good writing. Which has now been taken over be the woke
OB is genuinely thinking what he did to piss him off 😢
@@user-oz9ek2yl9n Oh, not just a family man...a union man!
Thomas Riker not Will Riker. If I remember correctly, he’s a clone of Will created by a transporter accident.
But it wasn't O'Brien at the controls... The accident did not happen on the Enterprise. It happened when Riker was serving on another ship. Somehow the transporter beamed William T Riker back but left a mirror image of him behind.
@@BigT2664 O'Brien KNOWS Riker. Unless Thomas pushed him away there was no way he could keep up the facade.
actualy, will is the clone, and thomas is the original
They are both the original. Will was on a planet with a strange ionized plasma-like atmosphere. The transporter uses two beams as a failsafe to transport. One of the beams bounced off the ionized plasma back to the planet. The other beam completed the transport to the ship. The ionized plasma only allows for transport very very infrequently and interferes with sensors. Will was on the ship so the ship left after transport. The other Will (Thomas) was left stuck on the planet wondering why they didn’t try to save him. He was stuck there like seven years. Neither is a clone.
Not "Clone" It is same person 7 years younger Will Riker renamed as Thomas. Bouth have same memories to the accident
Riker had to think quickly and knock O’Brien off guard. O’Brien being a military man, is trained to show due respect and not challenge his superiors, especially in front of others. Rikers ploy worked perfectly. Had O’Brien not been a military man, things may have gone left really quickly.
He also had to create distance. Last thing he needed was some old buddy of Will, wanting to have a drink and catch up on old times.
Another day of O'Brian must suffer...
Does he blame O’Brien because he spent all day hide miserable years alone on that planet however, had it not been for transporter mishap, Tom Riker would never had existed.
The REAL Riker would of asked about Keiko 😂

@@personalsigh Why do grammar police not complain about bad punctuation more?
Once I even wrote comments with bad grammar bad spelling and bad punctuation on purpose on multiple different videos and topics just to see if any like you would complain about all 3 and nobody did.
I find the whole thing really fascinating that so many will complain about grammar or spelling but most who complain give bad and lazy punctuation a complete pass.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants where in my five characters do you see a complaint?

@@personalsigh People who never correct people do not complain.
O'Brian got the most beating and physical abuse in the entire DS9 series
He should’ve know that was Tom Riker from that exchange alone.
Did he know about the "evil twin"?
OHHHHHHHH
Ya. I'm diggin' it 🖖
Definitely yes.
Tom Riker was rescued by the D while O'Brien was transporter chief.
Miles is just so used to getting 💩ed on by life, was probably struggling with whether that was a red flag...or just Tuesday.
actually was a clever move on Thomas part. If he pretended it was him and forgot some inside joke of Obrien's he might have given himself away. Better to shut down any chance of that happening.
It's almost as if Colm Meaney said "shit" in a very soft manner. Years before that word became "acceptable" for network tv
He definitely said oh sh1t.
Tom gave himself away with that statement.
For those who don't know. There was a transporter accident that created 2 Will Rikers, one that got Beemed up to the USS Potemkin and another that ended up sent right back down to Nervala IV. The one that "bounced back" ended up stranded there alone for 8 years. After he was rescued he started going by the name Thomas Riker. Well Chief Obrien was the transporter chief on the Potemkin when that accident occurred.
@@rando_webb8704
But why is Thomas Riker there on the space station
And
impersonating
Will Riker ???
And is his venom towards Miles
Just to deflect the need to interact with him?????
@@nl8989He was there to steal the Defiant for the Maquis. He tricked Kira by impersonating Will and shot her after she entered her command codes to activate the Defiant.
@@nl8989 Yes, exactly. People will usually stop asking questions when they're hurt. Miles is really sensitive when it comes to friends and couldn't think critically anymore. 😢
@@w.i.t.c.h.q.u.e.e.nThe weird thing is, that should have made O’Brien *START* asking questions. I don’t think Thomas’ response to O’Brien was because of the transporter incident, but was instead an attempt to make O’Brien want to avoid him (like you said), but O’Brien clearly had no clue what he was talking about. O’Brien should have at least asked what he had done to anger “Will”, but I guess he chose to not risk angering him further by asking what he had done to make his friend upset with him.
Awww, poor Miles!! Such a sweet guy, thinking he's greeting an old friend. He must have been SOO confused!!
Omg!
That was the first clue that something was up!
O'Brien and Riker were not at odds with each other when they went their separate ways!🤨
This series seriously needs to be given a hi definition re master.
I never got to see much of DS9 since it aired on a channel we couldn't get. So there's alot I missed and this is definitely something I missed.
It’s worth a rewatch from start to finish. It’s on at least one of the streaming services, and it’s currently on H&I if you get terrestrial…
Seen em all by now ? 2024
Will Riker would never talk to O'Brien like this
That if I'm not mistaken was Thomas Riker , Will Rikers Doppel ganger
I think he really hit his head
Perhaps, Obrien was the transporter chief on the potempkin that created him.
_Thats what i was thinking.._ 🤔
He was not.
He wasn’t he was avoiding him because Miles was most likely to notice that it was Thomas Riker
That the beam clone. Sadly i forget the tng season and episode 😢
Second chance I think
For those who might not know. That is Thomas Riker not William Riker. The "twin" all be it "clone" of Will from TNG. He was created by a transporter accident and abandoned on a planet alone for years. And who was the transporter operator at the time? You guessed it, Chief Obrien. Very sad.
WRONG. what is your agenda. Romulus operative 😮
@@randolphhobson5017 Uh no, that is Thomas Riker. Everything I said was 100% accurate. And I'm no Romulan spy. I work for Section 31. 😎
Riker and O’Brien didn’t meet until Enterprise, while the accident happened years before
@@padraigbutler Then who was the Transporter chief and why is he mad?
@@jessetellez3924I think thomas was just trying to psych miles out to avoid a conversation to keep him from being suspicious by not knowing things Will would have known
O'Brian's fault he should have said "You are still upset about when I punched you after the transporters turned my wife into a child?"
I remember the whole turning some of the cast into kids, don't remember the punch
Tom's just sore - he's not a good enough guy to land someone awesome like Keiko
Goddamn, Thomas was mean to Miles. Shoulda been a dead giveaway that wasn't Will.
At the end of the scene, it's clear that the cogs are turning for O'Brien, as though he's asking "what did I do?" but even in the Star Trek universe, it's a bit of a step to "wait, this is that transporter clone I rescued a few years ago."
Better for Tom to be cruel to Miles. While that might be a little suspicious, but if Miles was chummy and kept bringing-up fun times he and Will had on the Enterprise that Tom doesn't know about, higher chance he'll be found out.
If I remember correctly, this isn't Will Riker, but Tom Riker, his transporter accident clone?
Indeed, he's there to steal the Defiant and just wants to get rid of O'Brien because he knows Will and would surely realise that this was Thomas and blow his cover if he stayed longer, before Kira had unlocked the ship for his "inspection"! 😯😂😀🤘
Great ep.
*_Anyone else think the newer(ST7
So why was Thomas Riker mad at O'Brien?
He just wanted to throw him out of there as quickly as possible with as few questions/conversation as possible.
@@SweetSweetCandyBoyz ohh that's pretty clever actually
I don't recall this scene. Had to read the comments to get the context.
So, what was that all about?
It's Will's transporter twin Tom. He was trying to get rid of O'Brien because he's the only one who knows Will and could figure out it wasn't his former crew mate.
@Grimlock794 so riker is an imposter?
@@scotthamp384 because its not the "real" Riker. It's Tom trying to avoid saying or doing something that would make O'Brien figure out it's a ruse. Tom wants to steal the Defiant for the Maquis
@@scotthamp384 It was a ruse. An excuse to not talk to O'Brien. O'Brien was probably just as confused as us.
@@scotthamp384 its not riker, its a transporter accident clone thats pretending to be riker. Riker and chief had no beef. Thats why the chief was so confused, and left quietly.
Poor kiras like 😳😳😳
Did I miss something?
I didn't figure it out either.
God bless Clom and his contributions to sci-fi
*Colm
Most important man in Starfleet history
Did i miss something on TNG?? I know thats Thomas but did him and Miles have a issue on the Enterprise?
Not Will but Tom.
This scene was so silly I he was impersonating will no way would he of done that and risk exposing himself
He had a mission
So, exactly what was Thomas' grudge against Miles about?
Just wanted to get him out of the room as fast as possible - if there was anyone who knew Riker the best, it’d likely be Miles. Might discover it’s not the ‘real’ sideburned Riker if he had any real conversation with him.
Nothing brings up bad memories like Pegasus 😂
So… Is it obviously clear that that’s Thomas and not Will?
What episode is this ?
Stupid question, why is there a non-navy rank?
Kira is a Major in the Bajoran Militia, which uses army ranks, while Starfleet uses naval ones. She's later promoted to Colonel (Seemingly skipping over Lt Col).
@@creanero I didn't watch the series, but she's not starfleet?
Officers are the worst.
Depends on the officer. In my experience, those who complain about the officers are also often the worst.
Very unfair.
Never understood this scene
Right? I still don't know a thing about this "long story"
WIlliam Riker is aware of Miles' wife and kid that Miles will talk endlessly about...Tom does not. And the more mistakes Tom mistakes about things Will should known about to a man who knowns Will has a "twin" brother....
I don't know why?
No one does that's the point.
Upscaling makes them look unnatural or like odo.
DS9 was soooooooo unbelievably boring
Easily the best of all the Star Trek series. Sad you were unable to appreciate it.
@@Widdershins. I wasn't able to stay awake through a single episode.
