Why is Beth Hart not an Every Day Name? She is one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life. Granted, I like kind of having her as my "little secret", but it's so not fair to her. She's better than all the singers on the radio today. Is it her managers and producers and PR that suck? Because she is better than everyone I hear anywhere.
She has had many health issues she had to take care of and discusses them freely in many interviews. She remained productive through it all as composer and performer.(12 albums to her name more or less). Also singing the blues like she does now attracts a small audience. A bluesman once said that playing the blues is a good way to go broke! (Johnny Winter, I believe, and he lived the Blues his entire life.)
I just discovered Beth, and yes, I agree, she is one of the best performers I have ever seen, she sings from deep in her soul, she can make you feel her passion, and her pain. She has been on a pretty rough road, dealing with addiction as a young entertainer, it held her back, but now, years later, and years wiser, she is performing and filling concert halls all over the world. I can think of only a few singers who's music leaves a lasting impression, and stands out above the crowd the way Beth does. I saw a comment by some hater, saying she was'nt anything special, and was simply yelling and whaling in most of her songs. Obviously this unqualified, tone deaf motherfucker, doesn't have a clue. It must suck to live such a miserable life that you cant find a positive thing to say. Only someone who has lived with heartache and disappointment can pour thier soul out like she does. I fukn love this woman, her passion, and her past combine to provide plenty of life experience to draw from.

Coming across this video has been an absolute blessing to my evening. What a great band highlighted by an amazing talent in Beth Hart! Beth owns that song as far as I’m concerned. I would also give my congrats to the amazing, actually very amazing quality of the filming. It seemed like the camera knew to be where it needed to be at a certain moment, but giving us other views. So many other videos miss it by not showing the guitarist playing his solo when it’s playing instead, they show people clapping or whatever. This video is the best I have ever seen as far as I Can recall. There is one thing however. In case you guys read these comments, it would be nice to correct the sinking between the audio and video because there is like a millisecond delay and so the mouth doesn’t go with the sound. The small thing to fix, otherwise totally impressed with the video bravo

Personally, I think of Beth and Janis as completely different unique natural phenomena occurring in separate generations - both of whom needed to blast a lot of stuff out of their systems and did so/do so in an incredible manner forming some of the Wonders Of The World, lol, and in my theory, the reason Beth's doing less melodic and awesome 'screaming' these days is because Beth's happier now, which would certainly be a great thing to be true. Not that I don't love the 'screaming'... But I personally don't/couldn't really compare the two, as they seem to me to be quite separate musical miracles, even if they do seem to stand alone in that specific niche. Then again, much as I've always loved Joplin, Beth Hart is the only 'favorite singer' I've ever had and I don't need a daily Joplin fix as I do of Beth's work ever since I finally freaking heard it. So that's just my view, whether anyone's interested or not, lol.
Music is one of the deepest human things which both expresses life and makes it worth living, so it matters to people. And some of it resides in, or resonates in, our souls, as does much of Beth's, with many people. And her older stuff especially is great for clearing stuff from other people's systems, too, lol.
