Believe it or not , the real high pitched tone you said "didn't even sound real", was Adam Rupp. I was jamming to this tune, and others from the Doobies in my teens. Adam's beatboxing and effects really stand out in this one.

I "bother" My Kids & Grandkids at least once a day to listen to Home Free or sit and watch a few reactions of HF. They usually roll their eyes and say "no I'm good", and walk away. But then, ALL of Tha Boyz, (a couple of Tha Girlz) can't get over Adams performances. When I show them "Ain't Goin Down Till the Sun Comes Up", they stop in their tracks, back up and sit their "Butts (Remix) down.
Then I say, "NOW YOU KNOW WHY I WATCH THESE GUYS EVERYDAY ON A LOOP!" And they then understand.

The original (which was great) had a plethora of instruments. This is 5 voices. How impressive is that!? Austin's lead on this was soaring so strong it could have knocked drones out of the sky, Tim's bass was fabulous, Rob and Chance's harmonies were as rich and tasty as a Thanksgiving dinner. And Adam's beat boxing was next level. He hit the rev limiter for sure. He's always adding new and creative elements to his repertoire. And yes, all the vocal percussion, sound effects, and beat boxing are Adam. They all just sound better and better as time goes on. Another cover crushed. Thanks for the great reaction. Love your enthusiasm.

Adam has been improving his voice for actual vocal sounds(not beatboxing since he is already perfect there) and it really makes me wonder what his range truly is! Such a great feel good song!

I wish he'd realized a long time ago that even though he's not vocally trained like the others he has a naturally beautiful tenor and had the confidence to take the lead on more songs when he's not beat boxing.

@@antrazitaj5209 I agree completely. I think everyone would be shocked at his range. You hear that high clear note in Listen to the Music and in his concert solos you hear him do that diggerydo (?) and drop the bass. I love all of them but always thought Adam was the most talented of the group.

This was a great 50th anniversary cover of the Doobie Brothers hit song. Doobie Brothers had many great hits and is a rabbit you should check out. VAdam Rupp’s beat boxing and voice just keeps getting better. They did another 50th anniversary song last year this time with the original singer Don McLean singing AMERICAN PIE should be reacted to. Their latest song is BROTHER. You have a blessed day.

I just fell out of my chair. Never heard the Doobies? What's the younger generation coming to? I'm in my 70's, so I was around when the original came out. Our reaction to it was pretty much the reaction you just had - smilin' and dancin'. And this version, which is pretty true to the original, makes me smile and dance, too. I think it would be a toss up for me which I prefer. Go listen to some Doobies and see what you think.

I grew up on classic rock & am a big fan of the Doobie Brothers & had their albums. "Listen To The Music" was a big hit for them back in 1972. Love that Home Free is keeping this great music alive & introducing it to the younger generation. The guys did a really nice job of this song. Austin was great for the lead & loved the background harmonies of Rob, Chance & Tim's bass. Adam killed it on the vocal percussion again. He always comes up with some new & interesting sounds. Adam is doing the high notes as you can see in the slowed down section.

It's amazing that the Doobie Brothers used guitars, drums, keyboards, vocals and other instruments to create this iconic song and 50 yrs later HF made it a classic once again using only Adam and their own vocal talents. That high note was Adam who proved again what a naturally beautiful voice he has. Loved all the new sounds Adam added and glad to see the bandanas back. Now you need to check out the video HF just dropped called Brother. Like this one it's spectacular. They just keep raising the bar and leaping over it like Olympic high jumpers.

The Doobie Brothers are a must to delve into. The first 3-4 albums are very southern rock oriented, then we're joined by Michael Mcdonald who shifted the band to a more keyboard centered sound but his vocals took them to the top of the charts. Try a few of the early pieces Long Train Running, Blackwater or The Captain and Me. Then get into the following 3 albums. Absolute gold my friend.
