    First off, congrats, John! And secondly - while I love the idea of this pedal, I feel like for my money they tripped at the last hurdle by putting the level control on the return from the delay rather than a send to it (Andy Timmons style), so you can't use it to selectively hit certain notes with delay and have them ring out while you carry on playing clean underneath it... It just feels a bit awkward going from TONS OF DELAY to no delay with no trails to smooth over the gap. Perhaps they might have even put in a little dip-switch to switch between send level control and return level control. Thoughts, people?

    Usually the PG reviews are very low quality, but this almost the best review of this pedal. To the point and shows exactly what it is can do and benefits. Great!

    I almost missed that nice arrangement at the end, "While My Guitar Gently Echoes." Glad I was too slow with the mouse. Thanks for another great demo. I don't buy modulation devices anymore that do not have an expression pedal input, but this Ernie Ball solves that issue.

    Surprised it took this long to make a delay pedal as an expression pedal. Would be cool to allow the reverb to be always on.

    When I first saw this I was thinking it would act as a volume pedal into the effects rather than an expression pedal. When I think "ambient delay" I think of a lot of swells. So I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't an option to use the pedal in that way. Still a great demo is showing the features of the pedal.

    fm I swear on an old video way back when I requested a delay pedal on a rotary like a wah wah pedal

    Very clever to put your hands before the camera or the headstock from the guitar while you dial in a tone

    The P&W players are going to have a field day with this. Is this the new JHS Double Barrell/Strymon Timeline/ new pedal to go on every P&W board in existence? :P

    Does anyone know if you can control the delay time with the foot control? Ideally I'm looking for a pedal where you can get the detuning by pressing and depressing the foot (but not a whammy).

    Congrats on the baby 👶 EB missed such a trick on this delay - why not a mix knob and then options as to what the expression controls? It's digital technology so I'm sure that's doable. Looks nice and shiny though.

    Somewhat interesting and very decent sound wise, but must say Ernie Ball has arrived kind of late in the game. Practically every modern delay has an expression input (and so much more) to control not only the mix, but a wide number of parameters (Empress, Earthquaker Avalanche Run, etc). Yet, still, big fan of their ubiquitous volume pedal (incidentally, why is John Bohlinger wearing what seems to be a medical bracelet for the demo?)

    3:06 WHOA what's going on there? Sounds like pedal steel but your fingers aren't moving!

    • @austinfloyd2365
      @austinfloyd2365 Před 3 lety

      It looks like he's briefly pulling back on the neck to add extra tension to the strings (and raise the pitch). For me, this works best on a tele or strat (never had much success on an SG or Les Paul).

    • @sandb1867
      @sandb1867 Před 3 lety

      @@austinfloyd2365 What you describe would slightly pitch bend all strings (many guitarists do this one electrics and acoustics). In pedal steel, one can keep the tone bar in a single position and pitch bend one or more strings using a foot pedal or a knee lever while sounding the other notes of the chord. This is one of its characteristic and most loved sounds.
