you should probably tell John, the reason he never found Electabuzz or Magmar in yellow, was simply they weren't IN yellow. Electabuzz was in Red, and Magmar was in Blue, both were absent in Yellow.

I like how John's default fallback strategy was Cerulean Cave and it kept working.
I love how the both highlight the different ways to throw, MandJ uses upperhand and Pokeman uses underhand, MandJ throws same way just different angle while Pokeman curves the throw and uses wrist

Same, golbat was the only shiny in lets go that I found and I was very sad when it ran. My younger brother added salt to the wound by catching a shiny dodrio something like two days later.
Once l found a shiny magikarp in omega ruby and caught it but I lost the game

In case you ever do this again, I suggest a clause that lets you substitute your target Pokémon with any wild spawn shiny or legendary.

I really like Goldeen, although I haven't used it since I was a kid. Reminds me of the fish I used to have. :) I'd never argue it's particularly good, but it's a cool design and it's kind of sad that most games just throw magikarp at you and you don't get access to most of the fishing pokemon until really late in the games.
