Jane Thurnell-Read is in her seventies she’s been a vegan for over 7 years. Before that she was vegetarian for over 40 years.
Jane is a health blogger and an indie author. Last year she published two books, which are available on Amazon and Audible. Her books look at the scientific research rather than popular beliefs. She distills this information into practical advice and tips that are easy to implement. She offers hope and positive inspiration to help you lead a healthier and happier life.
Menopause Weight Loss: Live Well, Sleep Well, Stop Hot Flashes & Lose Weight
“This book has really inspired me to make some relatively simple lifestyle changes and I’m already noticing a difference. I definitely recommend this book to anyone experiencing confusion or helplessness around menopause.”
    www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3SX9L3V?...
“I now understand why I should quit chasing the quick fixes that have never worked and left me with dashed hopes. I find the knowledge here very motivating.”
190 Weight Loss Hacks: How To Lose Weight Naturally And Permanently Without Stress
This book looks at the scientific evidence for what works. It doesn’t offer fad diets or miracle foods. It offers simple, but effective tricks and tips that give you control of what you eat and more control of your life in general.
    www.amazon.com/shop/chefaj/li...
“Now this is a diet I can stick to. Because it's not really a diet it's just small tweaks to my normal life a life. I have lost 4 pounds in 8 weeks.”
The book has also been endorsed by doctors and nutritionists:
"As a specialist weight loss physician, I know the despair associated with believing that you have already tried everything possible to lose weight. This book brings hope to anyone in that situation. I consider it required reading for anyone aspiring to lose weight, and I recommend it unreservedly."
Dr Sue Kenneally (UK) GP, nutrition expert, bariatric physician
Jane is currently working on a new book on longevity and healthy aging.
Many people of all ages and backgrounds describe Jane as inspirational. She believes in living a passionate, ethical, cruelty-free life (with a sprinkling of vegan chocolate and vegan ice cream). Her healthy and exuberant energy mean that most people think she is in her early sixties.
She’s keen on going to the gym and lifting heavy weights - her personal best for deadlifting is 170 pounds (77.5 kg). She uses a bike as her main form of transporting, cycling 40 -50 miles a week. She sees exercise as being part of a healthy lifestyle, with consistency being the key.
But her life wasn’t always like this. As a child she hated exercise. In her twenties she drank a lot of whisky and smoked 40-50 cigarettes a day. She didn’t start to get fit until she was in her late forties.
Her website www.janethurnellread.com/ has practical articles backed by scientific research on weight loss, fitness, healthy lifestyle and much more.
She also has an Instagram account @thrivingjane / where she posts gym videos, inspirational quotes and vegan food pics. Many followers have said seeing Jane’s videos has motivated them to exercise regularly, achieving their own longed-for goals.

Well that’s what I think a Doctor IS!! Someone that read a lot of doctor books and studies. Idc that you didn’t PAY someone for you to research. I appreciate you ladies, I’ll let you know in a few weeks how it’s working for me.

It's not all about hormones. It's also about organs. How they are burned-out through overdoses of chemicals in medicines, vaccinations, makeup and hairpaint, silicones that are slowly leaking in their veins and cells.

I just went 11 months without a period at 45. Then bam- break through bleeding. It’s ok. I never have cramps or anything. Plant based diet definitely works!

I agree. Even just as a vegetarian with minimal dairy as an adult I've never had cramps or anger. And my peri time has been NOTHING like my mom or older sister complained about.

I love Jane’s approach. It’s healthy and very doable. She’s not preaching that we have to be perfect which I love! Allowing ourselves some leeway so we can have a better quality of life. Thanks for a great podcast!

This is really great info. However, everyone should read the book, "Estrogen Matters." Absolutely brilliant. I've dome most of these things and they are incredibly helpful, but HRT was still needed. Especially vaginal because without the vaginal, UTIs were insane. So much changed with diet and exercise, but my brain fog and memory issues only improved with HRT.

Found out by chance that when I stopped eating dairy cheese my hot flushes stopped. I went from suffering to freedom over 6 weeks. I was making my transition to veganism at the time. The only personal things I'm dealing with is anxiety about family relationships which effects my sleep quality. Get to sleep easily but staying asleep after 3am is hard.

I first experienced night sweats in my 30's. It was among the signs that indicated to my doc that I was hypothyroid. Now that I'm 47, if I get night sweats it tends to only be with the first days of my cycle.
The sleep began to be wonky at 39 while pregnant with my 2nd/last child and still not great. She slept through the night before I could.
Weight began coming on at 43. She nursed into her 3rd year and the weight didn't come off like it did with my first born in my 20's. Huge chunk gains like 10 pounds at a time. Exercise doesn't touch this stuff.
I was heavily vegetarian until 41 and healthy vegan, even oil and salt-free during these changes. I saw weight drop or stabilize in the family I fed, but not snacking, I gained.

@@kathysharp7551 No. The doc that found the thyroid issue left my area after a couple of years. The one I was seeing when all this happened, funny enough the labs then kept reading that my levels were normal with taking nothing for the thyroid. Lots of blood tests because she couldn't understand what was going on in my body and tests didn't give better clues.

I am making that transition. I juice at home, I 've stopped eating almost everything outside except subway vegetarian salads and vegetarian sandwiches and Panera vegetarian salads and sandwiches, I cook everything at home, I wear natural fibers clothes, like linen, cotton, fleece, wool, silk, pure 22 karat gold, 14 karat gold, or 18 karat gold and very good quality costume jewelry made of very good quality metal, I eat unsalted nuts and seeds, I have cut out refined sugar, refined flour and salt, I fill up on fruits and vegetables, I eat plain Greek yogurt, I eat plain yogurt, I eat herbs like garlic, turmeric, honey, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, basil, cilantro, pars, sage, rosemary, thyme, cardamom, cummin seeds, cayenne pepper, black pepper, lemon,
I have invested in a juicer and make fresh juices and smoothies at home, I have invested in a kettle and I always heat up my water to drink because I want to kill the bacteria in the water before I drink it. I don't drink refrigerator water or tap water or water that comes out of the tap.
