I never forgotten this movie! I was a little girl when I saw it, it hit home for me in so many ways!!!
As an Advocate against Wrongful Convictions and Incarceration(s), was very touching, and even inspiring; but in real life it’s sad that he (Donald Lang) passed away in that school, deprived of a normal life.
Do you know anyone that is handicap, and has a desire to become a Lawyer, Defense Lawyer?
I remember when this premiered. Thanks for all the original commercials too!
Totally unexpected sighting of Lance Ito (who would later be the judge presiding over the O.J. Simpson murder trial) speaking on the phone at 2:01:32. He worked in the DA's office at the time.
Thanks for pointing that out!
I saw it when it originally aired.
Terrific movie.
Lavar did another TV movie for CBS The Ron LeFlore story based on the Detroit Baseball player
Levar Burton really did an amazing job in this role!
His lawyer’s argument were spoken so eloquently.
Holly Robinson (9:13), only 14 at the time, and Steven Williams (13:19), then 30, played the main character, Donald Lang's, sister and brother in this movie. Eight years later in 1987, they'd reunite as co-stars on the TV series "21 Jump Street" as Sargeant Hoffs and Captain Fuller.
Wow . Long time since i seen this one. Thanks for upload.
Geordi LaForge can’t get a break. One minute he’s blind, then he’s dead and mute, and the next minute he’s a slave getting whipped.
Thanks Fuzzy.
Happy New Year
1:46:31 The bailiff is played by JoBe Cerny, who later provided the voice of the Pillsbury doughboy (and has had small roles in a lot of films that were shot in Chicago).
He was also the Cheer Man (always wearing a bow tie) in the Cheer commercials.
From what I could tell, Amanda Cerny is of no relation to him . . .
1:57:28 is the 1972 WB Television “Big W” logo which was intact, but later prints of “Dummy” has the 1984 WB Television logo plastered over the “Big W” logo.
Is that Lavar Burton!?
Yes, that’s Lavar Burton. Do you think his Lawyer delivered an eloquent speech before the Illinois Supreme Court?
The Lamont Sanford Story
Lmao!
Really, how is that?
@@brianvivickers3712I guess this person thinks LeVar Burton resembles Demond Wilson 🙄
@@KingMe725 no, it's because it's called "Dummy", Fred Sanford's 'pet name' for his son.
Why would you say it’s “the Lamont Sandford story?”
Ain't the guy on Dummy isn't that Reading Rainbow's Lavar Burton?
You mean Geordi, from the very real Star Trek TNG?
You mean Kunta Kinte from Roots?
That's him. He's actually a very smart man:)
@@Lupton2000- In other words, Mr. Burton was all of the above.
Yes, that's him. He also stared in Roots as Kuta Kenta!! Great actor!!
The sights of old time Chicago awesome
Thanks for sharing!
2:21:29 Highlight of longest baseball game in history at the time. Two of the stars Marty Barrett and Bob Ojeda went on to play in the 1986 World Series five years later.
Great video, ain't youtube grand?
I've never seen this!!!
Wow… I watched this when it aired when I was 8/9. The only memory I had of it was Sorvino practicing his pronunciation because he couldn’t hear himself speak.
Thanks for all you share. Happy New Year.
2:05:40 Terry Murphy was formerly at WLS ( 76-80) as an anchor/ reporter.
Fuzzy probably has some tapes of that.
Little known fact Donald Lang died in 2008...
Yea, and it’s sad that he died without being exonerated. Now hopefully he will be exonerated posthumously, and something will be done in his honor.
He wasn’t exonerated because he was guilty. 2 people were murdered by him he wasn’t the victim
Hey can you please track down and post DR FRANKEN a 1980 made for television movie starring Robert Vaughn and Terri Garr. Thank you. It aired on January 13th 1980
Funny, even though this didn't air in Chicago as presented here, there's a lot of Chicago in it.
Yeah
That's definitely Simon Oakland's voice in the Federal Express ad.
They will not be able to make movies like this anymore
they predicted LeVar Burton being a dummy 42 years before he turned into one
No, he’s not a dummy.
He has a doctorate degree and fights against censorship.
good for you
Takes a dummy to know a dummy
atleast you admit leVar is a dummy
@Gaylel1 Some of these people are idiots and their attempts at being witty are lame.
