It is supposed to be a team crime challenge, but when a fire destroyed Town Hall and you are accused of a crime that you and Nancy Drew didn't commit, it's up to you, Ned, Bess, George, and Nancy Drew to clear her name. This walkthrough will guide you through River Heights, find the clues from the town hall crime scene and its suspects, and find the person who framed Nancy Drew or she will be River Heights' public enemy number one. Well it’s a really great game. Although it’s a shame that we never gotta chance to see Nancy’s face. Although we did catch a glimpse of a bit of her face on the title.

.....How about Bess in The Crystal Skull. Maybe Frank, and Joe Hardy in the Hawaiian Nancy Drew. Last Train To Blue Moon Canyon I think you play as Frank and/or Joe Hardy too.
.....That was just off the top of my head. I probably should fact check that. Anyway I will edit if I remember anymore.

From what you say, those games are in fact the only games where you can also play Nancy Drews friends. And I bet that Last train to Blue Moon Canyon was the first.
