Proud to have been part of the competition by submitting a fully hand-drawn and hand-painted animated video for "The Great Gig in Sky". The most important reward has been the fact of being able to deliver a visual translation of the mental imagery triggered by my own personal experience of the music with just my hands, some colors, papers and a laptop.
Personaly couldn't decide what to do for this competition until it was too late but I'm glad I tried my best. Congradulations to the winners (specially to the ones that didn't rely on AI to generate it)

Are my comments getting deleted? If so, why? I have to admit that I´m a little disappointed. The winning animation for Any Colour is A.I. and the two honourable mentions as well. I put a lot of work into my "handcrafted" approach. It´s pinned on my channel, if you want to watch it :)

Yeah sure....but maybe fake art that looks good to someone is still art. If the people decide they prefer ai generated art over something someone worked hard on then blame the people. Its their taste afterall. But what do I know, Im just a bot.

It would be nice if the people running the contest would explain why the winner wasn't disqualified since they weren't added to the entries until Jan 13th. The artist said he was in contact with a contest official and since the deadline was Dec 31st, this seems dodgy.
All entries submitted before the deadline were accepted. Entries after the deadline were not accepted. Some entries were submitted as private or unlisted videos, in which case animators were requested to make their videos public so the judging panel could review the entry.

Around 700 artists managed to figure out the listing an entry as private or in other words "no one can see the video unless you enter that persons @" would be the way to go. Just seems dodgy that someone acting on behalf of the promoters of the contest went out of their way to contact this guy to re-upload( not make public ) a video that they weren't able to see and then insert that video onto the entry page, bypassing the way everyone else entered because ya know that entry box disappeared 13 days earlier, and then that guy just happened to win. Seems like collusion to me.
This makes Pink Floyd look bad and all the judges on the panel look bad. I guess that'll be up to court of public opinion.
@@pinkfloyd Perhaps someone should have browsed the entries before the deadline to let people know to change their settings on their entry - you know "so we can see the video."
(It took you 29 days to do this for one of them. You would think somebody would be on that sooner.) The way you bent the rules and started adding late entries all willy nilly, seems dubious. Especially when the "big winner" was told to re-upload (why?) by contest officials who added it to the list 13 days past the deadline. All the other winners were fair and square- no issues.
I hope at least one of the judges was able to channel the spirits of Syd Barrett, Richard Wright, and Storm Thorgerson!! Each one possessed unique and special artistic talents ahead of their time!!!

This is not fair, because the guy posted the brain damage entry after the deadline. Jan 13th, everyone had until midnight GMT 12/31/23 deadline for all entries. I do not see this posted before January.
That may have been when he made it public. I had posted my entry as unlisted on Dec 20th, but the date shows Dec 31st when I made it public.
As I said, he posted Jan 13, 2024 and there was no upload before that. Your comment doesn’t make sense. You can see this is the only video he posted. He should be disqualified.

AI doesn't belong in the top 100, let alone top 10.
Art is about breaking rules and pushing boundaries, but this isn't that. Slapping your name on imagery created from exploited artist's IP isn't art. It's plagiarism. Even if the one plagiarizing calls themselves an artist.
I would have expected more out of such a stellar panel of judges. Super sad for the competitors who've put their effort, perception, and experiences into their work.
All the animations are extraordinary, congrats to all participants.

Congratulations winners. But... Could you please clarify whether it is possible to provide information about who voted for which entry? It appears that AI was only involved in retrieving entries without any consideration. Could you confirm whether any jury members viewed AI-generated videos or were taken off in the process on first step of this competition? Additionally, could you enhance transparency by providing more details on the selection process?

Congratulations to all the winners. Some great animations, but some of them don't reflect the song at all and are judged as a stand alone animation that bears no reflection of Floyd the lyrics are music, more of a arthouse project rather than something the fanbase are going to enjoy IMO.

Such a disappointement
The winner got 13 more days to work on their video than everybody else. It seems it would be fair to give everybody 13 more days to work on their entries and then re-upload it ( which is what the winner says happened) and they could rejudge the contest. I like the winning video but this was a "contest" and this issue resulted from the way the promoters ran the contest. They allowed 35 videos onto the entry page clearly after the deadline for the contest. One video was added on the 29th of January which was the day after the original "announcement date" but before the rescheduled "announcement date." Why would it take up to 29 days to contact someone just to tell them to make their entry "public" on the day after the winners were supposed to be announced?

For me the animation for "Brain Damage" was an absolute masterpiece, a perfect companion to the song. It touched me deeply, resonating with the raw emotions of the song itself
