That song was a hit for Sammy Hagar before he joined Van Halen.
Of course Ed’s guitar work takes the song to a whole new level.
Thanks for saying it for me.👍
Truth
Their version on Live Right Here Right Now was my first time hearing it, and I was thinking 'which VH album has this?' - only after did I find out that it was a Sammy solo track! Indeed, Eddie takes it to the stratosphere!! Love this song for driving!
I do kinda like the version from Live Without A Net a little better.
The original Sammy album was Standing Hampton. Sammy was a good guitar player on his own.
Only one word for that INCREDIBLE
I love the “battling guitars”!
Never see talent like this again!
Grew up hearing Van Halen, the older I get the more I like
That’s one of the best performances of this song!
wow, Love Van Halen. A complete band, so many great songs, thx
Van Hagar was the best era of the band. They were magical.
Was not the best of era of Van Halen
@@eugenemotes9921 You’re clearly entitled to your wrong opinion.
Seen them once was an awesome concert live, Sammy give my friend an autograph 🤘😆🤘🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁
I just saw Sammy & the circle he is 71yr, and they ROCKED his voice live today is still ALL there!!!
Wish you two would react to the entire show from Tokyo. These guys were truly special.
I've seen a few videos of yours and I like that you give Van Halen props. To this day, I've never seen/heard a more accomplished guitarist as Eddie Van Halen.
absolutely incredible
Sammy Hagar was a solo artist before he joined Van Halen in 1986 when he replaced the old lead singer (year I graduated H.S.) so I was super stoked when they got together. This was one of his own hits. I saw this lineup in 1991 in Louisville. Great show, as you can see.
One Way to Rock is the best Van Halen song live.
That version of that band especially when they were happy damn they were fucking fun to watch
The third guitar was bass guitarist Michael Anthony!!!!
Awesome concert 1st place 😎
Young lady the way you react to Eddie Van Halen playing guitar is the way I've reacted since 1978 always been my favorite the band is always been my favorite and there is nobody that could play or keep up with him ever and I've seen just about everybody but I love watching your reaction when he starts going off the deep end and just tearing it up
There's only one way - TO ROCK!!
Asia's face was priceless as she watches two of the best guitarists in rock cranking it out, along with Alex's drums.
everybody's talking about Eddie Van Halen and Samny Hagar (and deservedly so) but let's not ever forget about Alex Van Halen on drums and Michael Anthony on that bass guitar, without the drive of that rhythm section nothing else matters...
You don't hear Alex get much respect for the fantastic drumming he does.
Agree Tim!!!
Alex is A+++ all the way. amazing drummer
Kids you have just heard the best collaboration in rock music. This song is a Hagar staple and these two decided to just duel it out and it is magic! They feed off each other.
That was the One way to Rock🤘
I watch you guys all the time you’re one of my go to channels seen you from just about the beginning 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Bands always pick it up a notch when they play the Budokan in Japan!
Their very first performance they opened with this on live without a net and it absolutely kicked all kinds of ass these 4 were like no other band that has ever walked this planet. God blessed us with them . VH with Sammy was hands down the greatest band ever
I’ve watched this 7000 times already LOL. Love this reaction!
I LOVE when y’all watch Van Halen videos. 🤘🏻
Now you see why this was my favorite band in my youth.
Eddie…. So missed RIP. Those of us who were there from the beginning of Van Halen in the 70s, were so in love with David Lee Roth, on vocals. He was handsome, athletic and very “colorful” on stage. When he left to go on his own, Sammy Hagar came in. Honestly, I fought that for a while but adding that third guitar to Eddie and Michael was genius. Sammy has vocals and guitar chops, as well as Michael Anthony on bass. But it didn’t last long…. Glad Eddie and Sammy reconciled toward the end.
This was a Hagar solo song before he joined VH. Van Halen incorporated several Hagar songs when he first joined the band in their live shows
Wow! And these concert tickets used to be like $15.00! That was just one song. A+.
Right here right now live is by far the best cut of this song live.
One of the best rock concerts I ever attended was to see Sammy Hagar on his "Three Lock Box" tour. That guy rocked the house for over 3 hours and never missed a beat. They don't call him, "The Red Rocker" for nothing.
It still amazes me how Eddie plays so flawlessly. His rymth and timing was uncanny. There will never be another Eddie Van Halen. RIP Eddie your the GOAT.
There concerts were otherworldly
Great music always touches the heart!
The E chord is man's greatest invention. More than fire, the wheel, sliced bread, all of it.
Every time I see Eddie play, it makes me feel like he was playing for sheer joy and enjoyment. Not only the audience but his own.
Van Halen is all about the live performance. It doesn’t matter which live concert video you watch, it will put you on the edge of your seat, and never disappoint. Please keep in mind that live shows are just that, “live”. So you are seeing the perfection and precision of Van Halen happening right before your eyes.
God blessed us all with Eddie Van Halen
There is only one way to rock. And THIS is it!
Sammy Hagar and Eddie Van Halen....two musical geniuses. The music takes you into a different universe.
This was when Eddie was way on top of his game! Feel that power! His guitar solos, riffs, licks, just jumps out and punches you right in the face and you say, "Thanks Eddie!", how 'bout another one?
Now that’s a performance. Fireworks 💥
One of the best Van Halen performances of all time in my opinion. Some fantastic performances on their 5150 tour also. You can find dozens of Van Halen songs that will blow your mind, though!
You unfortunately missed the 1995 tour live in person
Yeah That kicked a**
You absolutely have to watch “5150” live 1986. Absolutely absolutely!
Got to see them live on this tour, so glad I got to see them.
Guys please read this..... I promise you if u guys were around at this time this concer would have changed your life. Or at least the way u felt about music. The best guitar player to grace the universe . And he is just playing around here. Watch this or another V H shows from your living room almost as good. Oh if u have surround sound turn on and just enjoy
Sammy's vocals and writing took van Halen to the next level.
Lol.. love you guys, this is So much fun. Love Rock-n-Roll and people who love it as well and appreciate great music.. YEEEEESS!
It's like everybody got their own skill level and talent level and you know each one is unique Van Halen is one of them you know one of them behind High skilled Talent levels that you really can't compare it you know to each group but it's just way things are people got different talents a different skill levels when it comes to playing music
The bass player is amazing ❤
They say that guitar players feel naked without their guitar in hand! 🎼👀🎸💓
Saw them live many times you have no idea what it is like to be there !
EDDIE VAN HALEN was a rock GOD. Yes there is SRV, yes Jimmy Hendrix, but when it comes to a guitar being part of a person , there is NO OTHER IN THIS WORLD like Eddie. And I love ACDC, so don’t get me wrong. Angus is and will always be my number 1 performer!! But this concert only showed a 10th of what Eddie Van GOOD GOD can do. RIP EVH. No other will ever attain his gift!!!
There are/were so many greats that I gave up trying to determine the best years ago. Now I just have favorites
@@chrisa4695 Oh yes me to. Like I said Angus Young has always been my favorite. The sound I first heard as a child in the 80s, blew me away. Makes you feel a certain way! ACDCs sound was just in fire. Back In Black to this day fires me so up!! I know every word, sound, lyric , chord, and emotion. But Eddie was just beyond human with a guitar.
Fanboy
THAT is effing rock n roll!!!!
One of my favourite songs of ALL TIME!!!
I saw Sammy Hagar and the Circle in concert back in March and The boys rocked this song !! Sammy was unbelievable for a 74 yr old man…Keep those Van Halen reactions coming !! I would recommend “Drop Dead Legs” studio version for an epic musical experience, especially the 2nd half of the song …
1989 Van Halen, was peak Sammy Hagar, great hits, great sound...at their best, awesome. They were great days!!
Love watching others expand their knowledge of music and Asia is absolutely gorgeous
What a song
It does my heart good to look back at a time when we were still allowed to have nice things.
The thing you have to understand here is Sammy is no slouch on the guitar himself but next to Eddie what else can you do but try and play and keep up!
Perfect example of good guitarist vs great guitarist… Just some of Eddie’s fills are better than 90% of others actual solo’s 🤯
Plus remember that Eddie taught himself to play.
VanHagar. Always love hearing Eddie play🎸👍
Okay so the next song you want to check out from this concert is called Black and Blue listen to the background vocals and see how in sync they are in the harmonies everything it's not just the guitars and this is a stadium that they're playing in called the Tokyo Dome
That was originally sammys song Eddie said lets bring it up a notch and thats what you get there concerts were so much fun you go home exhausted and with no voice the next day
That was EPIC.
Van Halen became my fave band when i 1st heard ' Ain't talking bout love ' They are still my fave band. It's really cool you guys feel like we all did when they 1st came out....WHATTTTTTTT WAS THAT (said Asia). Lead vocalist Sammy hagar is no slotch on Guitar. Edward van Halen was a mad scientist growing up always tinkering with electronics on his guitar rig & also on his Guitar...oh ya he also wrote Great songs. The one & only King Edward👑👑🎸🎸
I first saw Sammy Hager when he opened up for Boston in the late 70s. He was in a duel just like you watched and the power went out. Needless to say he wasnt able to finish but being my first concert, he left a lasting impression. Check out Chickenfoot and Sammy and the circle. He is still rockin it.
There’s only ONE WAY TO ROCK!!
Well there is only one way to rock and they definitely rocked.
Behold the Master! RIP Eddie 💙
I have seen Van Halen both with Sammy and David, and they rock live. There is nothing better.
The crazy part is that this was LIVE!
I love watching your reactions to Van Halen! If you think that hits the sweet spot magnify that feeling by 10 if you were at the show. No one sat down, jumping, up and down, and screaming like maniacs during the performances.
Back in these days, this was usually their opening song. They would come out on fire and it would never stop. You'd be exhausted at the end of the show. Every song is like this in the Van Hagar days. Far superior to DLR days. I've seen both in their prime.
Indeed!
@@smarleyjoe3569 DLR did the most for Van Halen - - if not for him leaving wed probably never know the name sammy hagar today - both however had more hits - both wer amazing in concert - i saw them when they both were with the band simultaneously - songs today dont have the energy of a ballad or celebration song that they performed,
@@tonyyacullo Hagar had a pretty devoted following prior to joining Van Halen. He wasn't exactly plucked from obscurity. The difference between Roth and Hagar is Hagar actually had a successful solo career outside of Van Halen. Would he be the household name and elder statesman of rock that he is now? Probably not, but he would have still left a mark without Van Halen. Had he not been in Van Halen, Roth would be an unknown.
@@TheRockinDonkeyAnd Sammy could PLAY !
Where Dave just jumped up and down.
it's really a shame you guys didn't get to see them in concert, you would have loved it, wow
This is from their one and only live album “Right Here, Right Now”…..or at least from that tour……it’s one of my favorites!
It’s from the OU812 tour.
I would rate this 10/Hagar. Written by Sammy and released originally in 1982 on the Standing Hampton album which itself is a kick ass album with songs like "Baby's On Fire" and "Heavy Metal"
The “Live without a net” video from 1986 depicts the best version of this Hagar original..
Asia and BJ, you said it "There is no other" & "It's a whole nother level"! Eddie is in a class all his own alone...he is The GOAT!! As a lot of people have said there was Mozart, Beethoven, Hendrix, then Eddie...period!!!
Balls out. Like the call and response between guitars
5150, Aftershock, Alex Van Halen has some cool drum solo's you can find also.
One thing Sammy definitely added to the band. He was a player, he could add that element, Dave couldn't.
Eddie was a guitar innovator he could get sounds from a guitar no one else could he was a musical phenomenon
OMG....My first time seeing this.....damn Eddie is doing a solo for the whole song......he is absolutely killing it.....RIP.....Thank you so much for posting this.
It wasn't 'work' for Eddie, at this point. He is simply a master of the craft, to the point it just comes naturally! All the work was honed many years before!
SAW VAN HALEN TWICE,,ONCE WITH DAVID LEE AND THEN SAMMY!!! GOOD TIMES!!
Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen one of the best guitarists in the world
This song is a song Sammy Hagar wrote way before he joined Van Halen. The album is called STANDING HAMPTON. He was a damn good solo artist. There's not 1 bad song on STANDING HAMPTON.
I have seen them twice only with Sammy. Just an amazing amount of energy both times!
EVH - RIP 🙏
When you went to a Van Halen concert you want to rock.
The Greatest!!!
This is my favorite concert by Van Halen ! Do Black And Blue , The best Of Both Worlds , or Summer Nights !
how awesome is it that i just watched this and then saw this post .
No question, my favorite reaction hosts. You guys are my favorite. Keep it up please!!!
