But i dont think that it is the mukbang creators' responsibility to take care of my mental health. Im sure their intention of making this content is not to trigger people. "Mukbang" literally means "eating room". It started in South Korea as a growing population of singles living in one-room apartments would eat lonely meals at home. South Korea has a very developed food delivery service that started long before covid. You can get just about anything delivered right to your door within minutes. From there it grew into people streaming it online in order to feel like one was eating with others. So the more you ate, the more viewers would encourage you by sending you money. There are "mukbang" youtubers in Korea who have over 10 million subscribers and make more than 50 thousand dollars per month. Mukbangs have since grown into youtubers eating at different restaurants, countries and so forth. One of the top mukbang youtubers eats 20 ramyeons in one sitting.
I'm korean and I think Mukbangs have become really embarrassing. It is wasteful... it needs to stop.

I can only speak for myself but I don’t find mukbangs to be a bad influence. It honestly just feels like someone is with you when you’re watching them. The whole reason why I started watching Trisha’s videos to begin with was because they were so long and unedited. It was nice to listen to while I was getting ready or something as it provides a sense of company I guess? I can imagine the large portions may be triggering for binge eating disorders, but I’ve also heard it has helped people by watching it instead of actually engaging. Lots of things are triggering these days, just try to avoid things that may negatively impact you.
I was never diagnosed with a binge eating disorder but I’m considered morbidly obese so I probably do/did have an ED. But since starting to watch videos like Trisha’s I don’t crave those types of foods because it’s kinda of like watching her eat it is enough for me and now I don’t need it? It’s weird I know lol

Trisha Paytas beat her husband a few years ago and the photos were leaked. Just because she apologized for it, doesn't mean we should still give her platforms to keep her relevant. Please do more research into peoples backgrounds before you have them on.

I have Parosmia as a result of Covid. I love food and when I used to see videos of certain food items I'd HAVE to either make it that day or buy it. Now that I can't eat SO many things, Parosmia stems from garlic and onion, and its nasty to me now. It was very overwhelming at first but now, I love watching these videos because it reminds me of what food used to taste like.
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I dealt with parosmia in 2021 while already being depressed and it was so isolating and awful because I love food as well. If it makes you feel better, it did get better for me and smells that became repulsive are now back to normal again (I also had a smell-testing kit with different oils that apparently helps retrain senses and I smelled those multiple times a day). I hope you recover soon.

I can clearly see how these you tubers manipulate, cause drama, or even Expose their children to predators or bad behavior .I saw this one you tuber who keeps having baby after baby and literally singing sticks and stones nursery rhymm .but added ALOT OF CURSE WORDS ..while she holding newborn baby , and 2 of her other children and laughing ...just to address haters .The older baby looked bewildered and knew his mama was NOT SAYING PROPER WORDS and her dumb butt laughing ALMOST AS IF THE CHILD HAD MORE SENSE THAN pArent ..Smh
