This song always makes me cry. When I hear the lyrics "When mom and dad were still in love", I just can't...

czcams.com/video/MMp_xIUy8L4/video.html 😂
I've always liked this song. But lately I've been listening to it on repeat feeling nostalgic. I have to jump all the way back to 1975 for the good years, when the kids were alright. I was maybe 5 when my parents divorced. I spent many years planning what I thought would be their inevitable reunion. Never happened. Song brings back flashbacks of our home in Pennsylvania, but even then they were separated. I guess they were better off apart in the long run. Life is bittersweet.
You can talk crap about them all you want, but those two guys are loyal to each other. They're a model of what brothers should be. Maybe because their dad left them and they both had to man up at a young age. But they're two guys that obviously have a deep and lasting brotherly love. That's awesome, even when the songs aren't.
twins tend to be very close
FreeLantz78 is ź,

Mary Rubi
I grew up listening to Good Charlotte and similar bands even though i was born in the early 2000's.
Sadly their music didnt evolve just like avril which is why they will never be big again. Tho not hating even new stuff I can still drift back to back to being an angsty high schooler in the early 2000s hahaha obv means it all sounds the same but eh sometimes only way I can get myself to cry. Yes that means I got other stuff going on but that's not my point in my comments here hahaha
Such a great song.
Hello, loved your covers
~Not every family is built to last~ tell me 'bout it.
2024 May and i’m still listening.. and still one of my fav🔥
Me listening to this like "life was simple..... Used to wake up go to Target and buy shit.... Stuff I didn't need... They had everything... Woah-oh-oh! Used to go in... Do my job type all day in the office... Now I'm on the couch eating lots of skittles... With my laptop onnnnn... "
Workin from home only SLIGHTLY distracted. Also it's been 20 years and I'm still a fan.
Yeah!! Me too! A big, big fan of GC since 2002 🤟🏽
Hahahahah oh man how relative that is! Same here, 20 years of GC love
Amazing song... From "1979" to "I just wanna live" to "The Anthem" can't get enough.
Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, and a few others make shit (life) SO much better.
esas bandas aca gustan mucho en colombia !
They are so underrated it's sad
true
Good music is underrated :'c
No they are still the best in their field
2022. Still one of my favorite songs, and bands, ever.
100%
Mad respect for these guys. And I love this song. Met them last year when I had way to much to drink. They were still super chill and put up with my shit, actually chilled out with us for a bit and shot the shit for a bit. No other celebrity I have ever met in my Life have been as down to earth as these 2 guys and the rest of thier band.
GC is STILL one of my favorite bands, hell, I was 18 when I first heard "Little Things" on a Musicland sampler. I have LOVED GC's music for 17 years now... I'm about to turn 35... Music knows no age... The Maddens write great songs...
33 here and I still love GC and I listen to some Madden brothers, too.
2017, still listening.
Been listening since I was 14. I'm 29 this year.
I hope you are still jamming at 36! 🖤
I've been listening to The Young & The Hopeless, Good Morning Revival and Youth Authority for years, but I can't believe Cardiology slipped under my radar. It's such a solid album full of bangers, massively underrated. I've got it + The Chronicles of Life & Death on repeat right now. Both amazing albums I wish I'd discovered years ago! Good Charlotte as a whole is such an underrated band. ❤️
cant believe how underrated this band is..
Wasn't at the time... they were a huge hit around 2000-2004 with their first 2 albums. They tried a different style in Good Morning Revival, which was also a great success. But then they waited too long before releasing Cardiology. That time was critical, the album didn't got much attention. and now they're in a hiatus which doesn't make it better /: At least we have The Madden Brothers
They weren't in 2000 lol
Toonbarmyarmy83 yeah early 2000 they were pretty massive but now it's all about nicki minaj and miley Cyrus and shit
Toonbarmyarmy83 they were... that's when they released their first studio album and got success :)
Meli Hampton And Booty
Listening to this song in 2019 ✌ Bring back my memories.
13 YEARS ago this album was released. Time flies when you grow up with great music

I've been a fan since the beginning and I'll be a fan until the end! Good Charlotte saved my life when I was going through dark times. Your music has helped me through so many things in my life, and helped me believe. Keep doing what you're doing, because you guys are amazing!

1979 was a good year! Happy 40th to all of my fellow ‘79 babies!!
The year I I was born :)
Nice song. Good vibe.
Love this song, and I've always respected the Maddens. When brothers can work and play together it says a lot about the bond between the two of them.
At one point in time good charlotte was a way of life for me..
Their music still speaks to my soul..
A GC 4lifer!❤
And in 33 years there will probably be a song about how good 2012 was...
I love the variation GC have in their music and how they've grown through their albums..... They never let their fans down and their gigs are amazing!!!! As a true fan, I'm sticking by them where ever their path takes them....
11 Aug 2018 , this song has a special vibe and never gets old

I find this song heartbreaking precisely because its about the good times

I can't watch this one without tearing up a little bit. It makes me think of just how much I can't live without having my twin sis at the end of the phone. I love you guys, I remember listening to their old albums back when I was 8ish. xxx

THIS is the song which has been in the back of my mind ever since my sister played it to me when I was 3- I have finally found it
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Life was simple,
Roger was working round the clock to make a living,
No computers, none of that, he used his two hands,
Ignored the cold
Wore, his word to keep him warm,
On the weekends,
He'd load the car up with the kids and they'd go fishing,
No need to work an extra job, there's no recession,
Damn right he smiled a lot
They lay awake at night
So in love
It was a good good year
The kids were alright,
"Highway to Hell" beat up "Stayin' Alive",
The Clash was on the radio
And mum and dad were still in love,
In 1979
It was a good, good year.
In the morning,
Robin always woke up early in the kitchen,
She'd make the coffee, pack his lunch and then she'd kiss him
And he would hold her tight
When they were newlyweds
He'd say maybe
And she would laugh, they knew they'd have another baby
She'd slave away all day until dinner was ready,
And they would dance so slow to "Just the Way You Are".
It was a good, good year
The kids were all right,
"Highway to Hell" beat up "Stayin' Alive",
The Clash was on the radio
And mum and dad were still in love,
In 1979
It was a good, good year.
All the decades and the years have passed,
Not every family is built to last,
No time can take away these memories
Remember when you said to me
That we'd be all right.
Oh oh oh
The kids were all right,
"Highway to Hell" beat up "Stayin' Alive",
The Clash was on the radio
And mum and dad were still in love,
In 1979
It was a good, good year.
Oh oh oh
Disco couldn't survive
With the Dream Police and Rock 'N Roll High
Blondie (?)
And mom and and dad bought their first house
In 1979
It was a good, good year.
It was a good, good year
Ignore the cold war
His wife would keep him warm
And its “blondie brought out heart of glass” 👍🏼
I love Good Charlotte my favorite song is Motivation Proclamation . I love Billy Martin he is so incredibly perfect looking
1979 was definitely mine and my siblings anthem. Everything was great mom and dad were still together and in love. We go fishing on the weekend when dad was off work. We would have big family dinners, we had a pool we would bbq, memories we made, there was 4 of us kids and mom and dad were having another baby. Had my baby sister in Feb 1980. Like most marriage back then it didn't last. Our family was broken in 1984. Alcohol played a part. We went to stay with our grand parents with mom. After 5 years realized it was for the best we truly had God in our lives because of our grandparents. Everything worked out. We were A-ok! Mom and dad are friends today and always there for us 5 kids and our kiddos!❤️
Best band 😍

My God, what happened to the band? rather their style, but the songs they still good, I like
have always loved good charlotte since year 7 (high school) yes I might be starting to feel old but I'll never stop listening to their music. miss good charlotte i wish they'd come back.
todays date: 04/05/2016
Feeling nostalgic as always. Even on latest 90's the song still on point :))
Am I the only one who is confused by Joel and Benji now? They look so much alike it's crazy
Me too I can't tell😹
No eres la unica, yo tambien creo q ahora son practicamente identicos!!!
That's why I keep thinking, I did not remember them looking that similar. Its cause they both have short hair now.
I hope you're being sarcastic but just in case: they're twins...
Identical at that.. lol
Fuck in hell can't believe this song came out more than 3 years ago. it feels like 10 month's to 1 year ago. god time flies... like this if u agree!!
i couldnt find this song till tonight thanks charlotte for this sick song and all your other ones
Originally i thought this would be a cover of the Smashing Pumpkins XD
Fark if only times were still like that.... just only now.... be so nice, no rich people controlling the stock market to get richer to screw everyone out of their money.... same with the banks.... no recession.... was so nice... and people were just overall nicer.
I don't get why such great songs are so underrated
Grew up with them I played them taking kids to school dropping grand parents to bowels club.yeh 1980ts we had skating movies and talking,tv discos were the place to b seen!
"No need to work an extra job, there's no recession"
"The kids were alright"
"The Clash was on the radio"
"Highway to Hell" beat out "Stayin' Alive"
Holy fuck I never knew Utopia used to exist in 1979.
"Damn right he smiled a lot, they'd lay awake at night so in love"
Fantastic song with great harmony vocals and a proven chord pattern. Love Good Charlotte
i remember always goin to vermont with my granparents and parents and sister and i would always have to have the tv hooked up in the van to listen to recorded music videos! im only 14 and i feel old.
last time i checked 1979 was a smashing pumpkins song
Not sure if you got the MeMO but bands can have songs with the same name
:O
+Katrina too bad they could have just picked months and not year
Last time I checked it's ok to have the same name, providing it's not the same lyrics
Aaron Bueno you realise Joel and Benji were born in 1979....
Funny how when I was 10...I thought the twins were the hottest guys on earth...Benji was hotter....and now I can't even tell them apart haha.
+I Am Me I know the feeling.. haha
They've been out much longer than 4 years lol. I am 25 now. Bradley Felschow I was listening to them in middle school.
+I Am Me same! I always have to check their tattoos now to make sure
+I Am Me I second that
cause they look identical now. facial hair n' all. lol
Such a sweet song, one of the best song! Emotionless will always be my most favourite!
I miss these songs so much,,
New GC album coming out this year!
when I See Benji playing guitar, I know, why I started to play guitar 😍
does anyone knows the chords? I saw G7, C , G and A ?
