Extracts from the ceremony: 20th anniversary of the 2004 European Union enlargement

Parliament President Roberta Metsola welcomed her predecessor Pat Cox and the current and former presidents of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and Romano Prodi, to mark the anniversary of the 2004 EU enlargement.
They were joined by representatives from the ten countries that joined the EU 20 years ago: Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The guests answered questions from a group of young people from the new member states who were born on or around 1 May 2004, the date their countries joined the EU.
