Имеется ввиду, даже если ничего у тебя нет и ты не знаешь, что тебя ждёт завтра, но продолжаешь мечтать, то пачка сигарет в кармане - это твоя привычная жизнь, которая и раньше была, и скажи спасибо, что хоть эта пачка есть у тебя и ты все равно устремились за самолётом, ты жив и пока жив ты творишь и должен творить, даже если никто тебя не признает и помощи ждать неоткуда.

In fact, the line "And no one wanted to be guilty without wine" is very difficult to translate correctly into English, since it uses a play on words. Guilt in Russian sounds like "ВИНА", and wine - "ВИНО". There is an established expression "Guilty without guilt", and it is this phrase that is played out here by replacing one letter, which turns "guilt" into "wine" and gives a new meaning.
"Быть виноватым без вина" is not "Быть виноватым без вины". First variant in the song.

Unfortunately Tsoi died in a car accident in 1991. At the time of his death he was a mega-star here in Russia and he is still being loved by all generations. The legacy of his group "Kino" contains several albums already and we can only wonder what would have happened if he stayed alive and continued his brilliant journey. I remember the day when I heard he was dead. That was a complete shock and i was deep into grief and sorrow. 2 months before his car accident I was present at his last concert here in Moscow. At that moment I didnt know it was his last show here. Noone could predict this. The future seemed bright but that was abrupt. I am very happy you do these reaction on this group. They have taken a special spot in my soul and I cant imagine anything that can pull that out of me. Thank you.

Как например правильно передать строчку : " И никто не хотел быть виноватым без вина , и никто не хотел руками жар загребать ... " , как донести этот смысл в переводе ?! Это очень трудно , так как предложение построено на присловьях , понятных только носителям языка !!!
Да, это место погибло в переводе. Перевели дословно. А смысл: умереть, не оставив следа, незамеченным, жалко. Это и надо было перевести.
Если есть в кармане пачка сигарет, то все не так уж плохо на сегодняшний день! У человека всегда есть вера и надежда на спасение!

Actually this was the 1st song I learned to play on a guitar using simple chords. I love this simplicity of this song and the way you can sing it without any trouble no matter if you have a good singing voice. This is one of the best songs you can play anywhere and you will be welcomed by any listener.
my favorite group, thanks to my mother, who also loved his music and as a child my favorite device was a vinyl player and a cassette recorder + records and cassettes with Tsoi's recordings .. I have been listening since I was 4 ... since 1992 I hope that KINO's songs are not will lose a listener in 2050! These songs are for all time.

First tsoi song I ever heard back in 2008 and after that I was hooked
"Guilty without wine" is a translation which translates nothing. This is both pun and a reference to an old Russian proverb at the same time in original Russian lyrics. Nothing of it is in the translation. In original it is people's wisdom "To be guilty without the guilt". And the word "guilt" in Russian is "vina" which sounds close to "wine". It refers to Russian tradition of lack of justice for usual people.
BTW, this lyrics are kind of real gem. It contains so many references, allusions etc, which are totally untranslatable, that it is kind of better for foreign listeners to listen to Tsoi's voice as a musical instrument only :)
I haven't watched you for a few months and was wondering if you had ever reviewed this guy and this song, turns out you did while I was away! Really incredible Viktor Tsoi, every Russian will know him, he was like James Dean x Kurt Cobain, a real free spirit, poetic he died while young but obviously massively missed. Nice to mention, that when he sings "without music, live isn't red" is a metaphor. In russian red can in some instance mean beautiful (like a young maiden blushes). The meaning here is, without music the world wouldn't be as beautiful. =)
I would REALLY love to see more of these reactions. Some words are interpreted not accurate, so if you see that something isn't logic, don't blame Viktor)

I would also recommend watching the Needle (Igla, Игла) movie, maybe just for yourself if you have some free time (hope someone already made eng subs for this movie). I think it gives a good vision of what was happening in the 80s in the USSR through the perspective of a young man. Though, the movie is a little bit surrealistic.
and as for music, I would recommend The King and the Fool (Korol' i Shoot, Король и шут); if you haven't heard this band yet. It is a legendary Russian horror-punk band from 90s-00s. I guess, my fav of their songs are: "Men were eating some meat" (Ели мясо мужики) and "The master of Forest" (Хозяин леса).

Красна - is an adverb for red, yes, but it also means "beautiful, pleasant" which came from old russian and slavic lexicon. "Красна девица" - beautiful gal

The pack of cigarettes here, of course, is a metaphor. The little insignificant thing that is always with you is your pure soul. According to the lyrics of the song: the hero finds himself in a foreign land, his life was completely broken, everything collapsed. But if you had kept a flawless pure soul that seemed as insignificant as a pack of cigarettes. Everything can be returned. And apart from this insignificant thing, everything else becomes insignificant. There are many beautiful images in the song. But what you thought of as wine as a drink actually has a different meaning: no one wanted to be guilty while remaining innocent. guilt for deeds and wine magically spell the same in Russian.
Check out "Changes", "Blood Type", "Close The Door, Im Leaving", "Coco Bird", "Summer Will Be Over Soon" this songs at the same level as "Calm Night"!

Victor Tsoi and his band Kino (the last vowel is stressed, pronounced french-like, means "Movie") were not Russian but Soviet as Tsoi himself was Korean, his lead guitarist was Armenian, his basist was Jew and it was a drummer only who was a Russian.
...but at that time no one was bothered of this in USSR ;)
