We have a special episode featuring an in-depth conversation with Sean Seale from @Upsidestrength. Sean is a performance coach specializing in physiological testing, endurance training, and respiratory training.
In this episode, we explore Sean's journey to becoming a physiological coach, a path largely shaped by his self-taught approach through extensive reading and simply absorbing the available information. We then dive into various aspects of programming CrossFit training, including the underlying physiology, Zone 2 training, periodization, and respiratory training.

Awesome content! Thanks for sharing all this knowledge 👌
Pleasure, love doing this.
He's fantastic, I found him when I started to get into erg work, unfortunately alot of his more recent videos are all in French, I feel like we're missing out on so much valuable information. He's a class act though 👌
Rory, I very much appreciate you for the comment! I look forward to publishing more english content on the new channel in the coming months :)
I love the idea of periodisation however for someone like me who's life in general is so varied, being flexible and consistent in training has lead to far better results. Periodisation is great if you can control every aspect of your life like that of a professional athlete. For example, I've found little benefit to my CrossFit performance after running a 12 week base building block when my next 12 week block of training is disrupted by 12 hour work days and being on call throughout the night.
That's a great point Dan. I definitely agreed that regularity/consistency trumps great periodisation every day of the week! Thanks for the comment mate
Agreed. Number one most important thing in any sport. Adherence. Search what works for you and stick to it.
Well said on RPE. My suggestion: look at RPE and time separately, not just their product
Indeed! Depending on what we’re looking for, either metrics can be useful 😊
