- In this episode, I prune my newest Jade trees. My friend from MBS had cuttings this past summer and I grabbed them. I also provide a few updates and we give those Pesty Premna's another dose of some powdery mildew medicine.

Happy new Year Dave and Toby, cool video, lots of things happening!!
Happy New Year Nigel! Highlight of 2022 for sure!
Nice updates. 2023 off to a great start with great videos.
GJ's looking good after pruning.
Hibiscus tea for an evening relaxation. Super!
New Year's Night and enjoying a great video with a cup of tea.
Gollums are just so alien looking! That little tiny mushroom is adorable though and I’d have to let it stay 😂❤
Happy New Year! Here’s to 2023
They do look very weird lol
I sure hope this treatment does the trick for you!
I took plenty of notes and appreciate the education, brother.
I didn’t think we’d see the bathroom Jade for a couple of years. It looks like it’s doing great.
After one year in bathroom, I might put in plant room to see how much additional growth and health I see.
Kamado Dragon sounds cool. Looking at it, you are right.
Happy Gollum New Year Dave! 🐦💙
Organic product. Gro Safe and OMRI listed. Great!!! Dr. Dave in action with going organic with insect and fungal control.
Happy New Year, Dave! I was thinking that you would have cut of one of the bar branches on the first gollum jade (in the pot with 2 trees). Still, they are nice jades! ❤😊
I don’t worry about bar branches all the time, especially with newer trees to me. I’ll see how it reacts and then pick best Branch.
Hi Dave! Glad to see you are trying something new save those lovely trees. Thanks for letting us know what you are trying. Could you share the name of the systemic one you will try if this doesn't work. I'm always looking for things that might get rid of pest problems and save my trees. The drench I did eventually took out a couple of my starter trees (guess it was too strong), so it's hard to know what to do. Love that double trunk tree and yes, the other one does look like a lizard or maybe a praying mantis (you'll have to grow it's front arms...lol). Happy new year!
Yes! A praying mantis! I love it. I’ll keep you updated.
Happy New Year Dave. Thanks for a year of great content. All the best of bonsai in 2023. Thanks, keep growing
Thanks Matt. It's viewers like you that keep me pumped and excited to keep going. Happy New Year! Bonsai on!
Great Video, love the pot. Do you know where you found that pot?
I believe it was given to me. Don’t recall.
Wow. Those look great. How do you get that deep green, super fleshy look?
I’ve done nothing special other than perhaps a little seaweed or fish emulsion fertilizer.
@@DavesBonsai What kind of light do they get?
@@Arkie56 winter they are getting bright LED lights. I’ll bring them outside soon here.
Hi dave great video. I have a question for you? What ever happened to the satsuki azalea in episode 16 from three years ago. You trimmed the roots and cut branches on the tree and was wondering did it survive or was it a loss. I’ve watched lots of your videos and don’t recall seeing it after that . Was it a success?
Sad to say it passed on. I had a cold frame heating issue and my cold frame went down to 14 degrees for a short time. I think it led to its demise. I also think I didn't water it enough that same winter when it was in the secondary cold frame. Tough loss. My only one, and I kind of liked it. Thanks for checking in.
@@DavesBonsai thanks for letting me know and now I can rest easy. I now it’s always a bad feeling when you loose a tree that you have put time, energy not to mention money into and then it’s gone from the collection. My sincere condolences and hope that in the future another will grace your presence with greater success. When I get a chance I’ll look at my records to see what I did to mine if they are due for trimming this year I’ll send you some of my cuttings so that you can try again.
Happy new year. I would let them grow wild for quite a while until they are actually simulated trees and not just small cuttings in the soil. I have 2 jades and haven’t touched them since I got them. I get what you’re trying to accomplish tho
I have more patience with some trees than others. 😆
@@DavesBonsai me too I have a big nursery red ribbon leaf Japanese maple I got a few weeks ago and was out in my unheated greenhouse and was clipping on it today. I have to do several airlayers before the more refined structure is established this spring but sometimes in winter there’s opportunity to do some work to tide us over for the growing season.
@@ThatGuy-cs3nb I'm always amazed at how much work Nigel Saunders ends up doing all winter long. Not sure I've seen a Red Ribbon Leaf Japanese Maple. Sounds amazing.
