Jhope lyrics in Hope On the Street was referring to ARMY, BTS fans. BTS always thinks of ARMY. Whenever their songs sound like they are talking about relationships they are either talking about ARMY or they are talking about the other members.
The song playing in the beginning of fire is their song Dope.

  • @Lungette1
    @Lungette1 Před 5 měsíci +33

On the Street is a “goodbye for now” to ARMY. J. Cole is Hobi’s biggest influence. Hobi named his first mix tape Hope World as an homage to Cole’s Cole World album. And his name Jhope is also inspired by J. Cole’s.
The music video is shot in NYC as a reference to one of Cole’s earlier videos and the child in the beginning symbolises ARMY as Jhope gently says goodbye and watches as the child leaves.
Hobi’s dancing in the underground is in reference to his underground hiphop dance roots. And while he’s dancing underground Cole is on the rooftop rapping. Showing Hobi’s reverence for Cole and how he believes him to be the greatest. He also gave him a long verse to show his respect and admiration.
A lovely track that I listen to often as I patiently await Hobi’s return from military service. 🫡💜
Editing to add a couple of recommendations as a fellow metalhead in my 30’s:
Dionysus - some rock/metal influences in there
Boy in Luv - not to be confused with Boy With Luv which you reacted to here.
    Danger - emo/anxty/rock
    MORE by Jhope - rap/grunge
    Enjoy! 🎉😁

J.Hope is a fan of J.Cole, and they met in person for the first time at LOLLAPALOOZA, when J.Hope was Headline, being the only artist in the history of the event to sell out all tickets in one day. are registered on the BANGTAN TV channel, and the making off of this MV. The idol J.Hope acting like a true fan of J.Cole, all humble, the humility of all the members of BTS is impressive. He made this song for the Armys , a gift as I was joining the Korean army. All the members made a special song for the Armys when they joined the army, out of gratitude for the support we always give them. And if you don't know, right after the last members joined the army, a week later, Armys placed the group's debut song at #1 in several countries around the world, the song “No More Dream” from 2013. Thank you for reacting to the boys and I hope you continue on this long journey.

He is a dancer first - and in fact, is coming out with a new series called something like, On the Street with J-hope . Can't wait.

J-Hope's dance in On The Street was 100% freestyle. You should watch the behind the scenes. This was a fan song from J-Hope. He doesn't talk about his religious beliefs, but from what I know of him and his family, which is not much, he has faith in a higher power, I just don't know the details. It doesn't matter really. By the way, I didn't like a lot of rap before I started listening to BTS, and I love their rap styles and their lyricism. I liked J-Cole a lot. His rap lyrics have substance. I think that is what counts for me. substance and the music both great.
Halsey was given an opportunity to add a full verse to the track, and she loved the song and lyrics so much that she didn't think it need her to add a verse. But she did add a couple lines in the Spotify version I believe.
Fire is a staple for BTS concerts, and they do remixes to it as well. I love it. I've been to two of their concerts.

I was shocked when I thought you had cut it off at the end. The beat etc was all Jhope. Jhope mostly rapped in English, but he was saying everything he did was for "us", the community of BTS and their fans, Army. Jhope has been an admirer of J Cole since more than 10 years so he was so happy when J Cole came to see him at Lolapaloosa the previous year, and they met.
Listen to Hip Hop Lover, an early BTS song will explain itself.
Halsey was very sweet but her only lines were "oh my my my " on and off through the song. Other higher pitched singing was not her.
She was playing the part of Army the BTS fanbase who the boys love.
BTS actually started as a Hip Hop group, so rap is at the core of their music. RM and Sugar were both underground rsppers long before they joined BTS.
Recently Suga wrote and produced a song for Psy called That That, you would love it, Sugar also features in it.
Fire, a very early track, probably 10 years old. It pulls you in.

The fire is on fire 🤣🤣🤣
Definitely show him JHope More and Arson
    and Jungkook Seven (UK Garage)
    Dope too.
The beginning of On the Street was shot where JCole shot his video Simba 2007. Cortlandt Alley in NYC and then at the end in Brooklyn near Biggie's statue.
I can't believe that you don't know JCole, considered by many to be one of the greatest(my personal favorite. I love lyrical rappers) rappers ever!!!!!
No rapper really ever speaks for another. And JHope started out as a street dancer and this feels looser because it's street dancing. Less choreographed, more going on the feeling.
    😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
More songs that he would like, please.

Ahh... sorry to be inconvenient, but I could react to Jin's “The Astronaut”. He is the oldest member of the group and the first to join the Korean army. (In June he will return to us... woohoo). He asked Chris Martin from Coldplay a song to leave for the Armys. As you make long videos and we Armys love watching, make a combo now, hahaha... the official MV, and Jin's participation in the Coldplay show in Argentina, releasing the song “The Astronaut” , and also the little speech that Chris gave before introducing Jin to the stage, moving. Well, after that you could also do “My Universe”, and the making off (on the BANGTAN TV channel) of how the trip was Chris Martin to South Korea in the middle of the pandemic, yes, he made a point of going there, he didn't need to because he is already a globally renowned artist as we all know, but he really wanted to do this collab, and it was the first time in his life that he met the boys and it seems like it was love at first sight, because even today when he talks about BTS he is just love and affection with the boys. I'm sorry for being too long.

This was not BTS - this was a solo song by J-Hope as a personal farewell to ARMY. It was not intended for top 10 - this was personal. If you want to hear J-Hope solos (FABULOUS) listen to More (from his newest solo album - Jack in the Box) , or Hope World, Piece of Peace, Daydream, Blue, Stop, Safe Zone, Chicken Noodle Soup. There are many songs he features on in BTS songs: Ma City, Outro-Tear, Just Dance... He rides the beat in a very unique and top tier way. He's an excellent songwriter, top dancer, performer. Love and adore him. Worth a listen. He headlined Lollapalloza, 2002 - I've watched the concert at least 15 times and will watch again. Excellent.

We have not heard about a religious interpretation for Jhope. Jhope's family is more religious than the other members of BTS- there have been conversations historically but nothing recently. It really isn't something that is in the forefront for Jhope in terms of song themes. It is more likely to be about ARMY. Interesting take though.

I think you both have very different taste in music. Just a hunch. I am not a huge fan of boy with love even though i completely understand why people love it. I just like tracks more in minor key that a bit more moody so fake love, blue and gray, the cyphers. Amygdala, etc. Are more my style. That being said, it is a brilliant pop song. It just didn't make the playlist. I think MCD would like suga's solo work like haegum and deschwita as well as the four BTS cyphers, outro tear, ugh, bapsae, ddang. J-Hope's more and arson etc. I love your comment about how their music makes people happy because i feel the same way.❤

Hi, i am back. Nice reaction, ty. Classic JHope. i liked this. Great fit. Lots of memories. Made me nostalgic. J-Hope's dancing while J. Cole is rapping is really something special. This is my 2nd time listening to J Cole. Loved his flow. My 1st listen was Born Sinner. Remembered debut Danger BTS MV. Saw call backs to old BTS MVs. On my 2nd listen i was teary eyed. But i was fine with u. When i watched this I thought of my city NYC. But than i 2nd guessed myself and thought i was wrong. But a moot of mine msg me and she said the whole street area is around Chinatown and the train station J-hope was dancing in is at Delancey St and Bowery. And then he was riding those older trains that used to run b4. And he was walking out of the Bowery St station that had the J and Z trains on the sign b4 meeting up with J Cole near one of the NY bridges. Also, I remember he had a couple of flights that year between Korea and NY/the US. Possibly the one after Lollapalooza was when he did the mv filming with J Cole. So i was right. This made me so happy. =0} It is NY. =0} The boy is army to me. Just like the girl in Jin's song was army. Jhope is the main dancer of BTS. He is the 3rd rapper in the group. He is also a sub vocal. He in the military now but we will see him back in Oct. This was his see u later to us. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
    - air said on 3/4/23
He was dancing underground while J. Cole was rapping on the roof, and in the end, JHope comes to meet J Cole at the top. This may represents J-Hope's journey from the bottom to the worldwide top, from the time when he danced to J. Cole's rap even before joining BTS to the today when he can make music with his muse. I'm so happy for him.
    isa kotelec said on 3/6/23
A couple of things: the alley is the same alley seen in J Cole’s mv SIMBA & the subway station jhope is exiting at the end of the mv is the Bowery Station J -Z. This is where Jay Z took his name. There are other Easter eggs, too.
    FaceYourself said on 3/4/23
Some Easter Eggs and Info: On the Billboard is the Chicken Noodle Soup Car, and the Words ''It's my Call'' and he is walking the Streets, that J Cole walked in his Debut Music Video Simba. Hobi is wearing Military Dog Tags. Hobi used to dance to J Cole's Songs when he was still a Street Dancer, and after a listen to Friday Night Lights, he started writing songs and making his own Beats . He even named his first mixtape Hope-World after Cole-World, and his name is a play on J-Coles Name. That's also the reason he gave Jermaine so many bars in his Song, to represent his walk on the streets from where he started and to now, joining J Cole on Top of the Roof.
    @saiyongdawn7756 said 5/18/2023
I won't explain everything since viewers have touched on a lot already. But just wanted to add that when J-Cole at the end said, 'Cole World' it's a reference to J-Hope song 'Hope world' which Hope had gotten from 'Cole world'. Another thing is in the beginning of the scene in the alley is where J-Cole had done a mv of one of his own songs a while back. Also the little boy represents J-Hope as a child and also his Army fans whom he's saying goodbye to for now bc of military duty coming up soon. Notice the jackets they're all wearing from the past during the time period when J-Hope was dancing on the streets. J-Hope started from the ground up to the top where he meets J-Cole, thus the subway and the rooftop. I know the subway also represent where J-Hope started his street dancing which someone had already pointed out. There's a vid of J-Hope and J-Cole first meeting. J-Hope was fanboying like crazy. 😅
Anyways, Idk what else to add. Oh yeah, the flower scene in the beginning represent J-Hope leaving his fans temporarily for military duty. 😊
Btw, have you done a Reaction vid on SB19 Tony Talks where SB19 discuss their start in the industry? It was a rough period for the team, but they pulled through why they're called the PPOP KINGS. I hope you do check it out. You won't regret it. 😊
    Great Reaction. Thanks. 🙏☝

Thank you for yet a great reactions. It's very respectful, but honest. I like that. You both seem like great guys too, which I enjoy. No worries about not knowing deep dive stuff about BTS - we'll gladly help you out (and maybe you'll learn some things too along the way, which you like. That would cool too haha).
Personally, I really resonate with what MCD said, that he could find something enjoyable/entertaining (forgot the exact word) about every song, even if it's not his typical vibe. I at this point actually love every BTS song, but for very different reasons. Sometimes it's the meaning, sometimes it's the live performance, sometimes the mv, sometimes the dance moves, sometimes the genious lyrics.
I wonder if we should suggest things you/he might like, or if we should keep expanding on your perception of BTS.
Somehow I thought the two of you might enjoy "So What" live at the Rosebowl Stadium (in the US): czcams.com/video/bbENYg5MP9Y/video.html - this performance was during their encore, so this is where they just have fun with ARMY, let loose and do whatever. Usually it's easy to spot, bc they often just wear t-shirts/hoodie with their merch on.

True. At the same time, I would bet money j-hope's family is Catholic due to the stuff in their house seen in the Lolla documentary. So my assumption was that j-hope vibes with J. Cole not just because of his beats and wordplay but also his messages over the years which are simpatico with j-hope's messages.
