your Grandfather was a motorsport god! I often make a pilgrimage to one of these cars over at the jaguar, daimler ,heritage trust over st Gayden( open to the public 352 days of the year) most people I talk to over there don't realise it was built only a few miles up the road at southam. sadly your Grandfathers work shop has now been developed. do you ever go over to the museum?

I was there at Brands Hatch in the 70's and watched with awe , Jaguars return to racing. More powerful than anything else on the track , but reliability issues snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. (Broadspeed should have left standard parts on the car ) That and too many BMW's on the track according to the comentator Murray Walker . The shape and the sheer presence of the big cat lived with me until last year when totaly fed up with constant electronic gremlins on my 7 series BMW, I imported a low mileage 25k Series 3 V12 Daimler from Japan . Its a 1000 times the car that the BMW ever was and quite honestly the best car I have ever had . Its everything that I ever read or heard about, totaly silent , and driving it brings a sense of order to an outside world of chaos

More a problem of going too hard in the car, those races saw the Jag blow most of the competition into the weeds in the first lap, but they still pushed the cars hard. The big problems were breaking half-shafts in the rear suspension (too much power) and cavitation in the wet sump due to baffle issues and too high a gee force!
I think the car that was in Australia for some time was one that was fitted with a dry sump. One more year, that was all they needed, it was getting sorted, but BL either didn't have the guts or didn't care.
Broadspeed didn't even bother to pull much of the original interior out of the car, must have been the only car after WWII to race with a wood dashboard.

I find it had to beleive that no body has commented on this glorious sounding car in twelve months. I am seriously thinking of implanting one in my old range rover.

The sound is indeed glorious. Some may be so enthralled by a finely tuned V12 sound to want to have it available at all time in case of emergency, for example by keeping a fuel injected 6.0 liter manual E-Type roadster on hand. Very soothing.

They put plates in-between the heads and block for Spitfire replica's to allow the displacement to go up to 9+ liters.
One of my "win the lottery" dreams.

If you close your eyes and just listen to the V-12 engine scream, you would think it's a late 60's red hot mid engine Italian. Not this burly XJ in extra wide.
It really makes the cars it raced against look a little common.

Think would be even more nice, to see such a beast on a track with longer straights... the XJ 5.3 it's heavy, long wheelb., thus couldn't be so agile in the short, but when comes to slam in the whole power, on the straights... that engine can make the difference. Quite BIG, difference, I think

Which still exists. It was found in 2015 in a terrible state in a garage belonging to a private collector, and sold at auction for £62,000 to another private collector. It's not been seen since. If you search for 'New Avengers Jaguar' on here there is a video of the car being uncovered and removed from the garage

    Interesting Fact.
This is not a Genuine Broadspeed, but in fact a re-creation built from an absolutely rotten road car shell by my Dad which featured on the cover of Retro Cars in 2009. It was originally built to start instructing with dual controls but was purchased from my Dad and converted into a racer with a huge amount being spent on the engine and tweeks to the body to make it look more genuine. It is now in the process of being faked ID'd into a Genuine Broadspeed. Mental. 😂

That front profile is pure 70s sex. Never mind to wasn't a great success........quad headlights (well minus 2), a bluff front air dam and flared arches.
