only them can sing it the right way, no imperfection this is the right way soul and blues should be sing, for me when i listen to a cover of this song with no soul in it, thats really imperfection hahaha
My dad listened to Smokey Robinson so much I could not bear it. Now, I appreciate what a GENIUS he is. This is my favorite song of Smokey+The Miracles.
My dad name was Smokey. My dad would buy my mom all of SR,'s records. He'd sing every last song on the A side then flip it 🤣 to the B side, and sang that side, too. On my dad's dying bed my mom song this song to him. 50 years of marriage❣️# I miss my father so much.
Seeing a live video gives so much more life to this song for me, always been one of my favorites but this really leaves a guy even more speechless than the audio itself does.
The guitarist in the background is MARV TARPLIN. He is also an original member of THE MIRACLES.... and was inducted with them into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2012 ...as was Miracle Claudette Rogers-Robinson.
wow wow wow, I was 10 years old when I heard the song.my father was in the Army and we were stationed in France. my parents house was the after club place everybody came to. I would sit on the steps and listen to the music and watch them dancing and thinking, wow one day I'm going to be doing this too. well turns out I wasn't wrong my husband was a military 22 yrs. most of them spent overseas. Our house was the party house after the clubs closed.
Smokey Robinson and Bobby ROGERS both singing lead on this song . Back in those days , they were just known as The MIRACLES....not "Smokey Robinson" and The Miracles .
This may be my forever favorite music video --- in the era when almost everything musical on TVwas lip-synched, it's grand to see the great Smokey Robinson and the Miracles unfettered....Amazing vocalese, cool choreo, Smokey is one of the true greats in American musical history
Smokey, The Miracles and Marv Tarplin. Killing it live as they say. Wouldn't it be great if all our singing "stars" could get up and do it really LIVE.
what a treasure’. singer, performer, entertainer’ we’re princes and princesses of men to be able to have , watch and listen to a performance like that. much appreciated
As a ten year old I would play my sisters With the Beatles LP. I loved every song. I read all the sleeve notes and the comments about this being a Miracles record. I didn't know who the were but The Beatles did. Smokey....one of the all time greats, no question. Hitsville USA The Making of Motown documentary is highly recommended.
I watched Smokey & The Miracles quite a few times at the Regal Theatre on the southside of Chicago. I also got to see quite a few sets featuring his (then) wife singing with the group, and even James Jamerson playing bass on a couple of (Motown) tours. Those WERE the days, baby! All (soul) roads led to the Regal Theatre.
Emotional touching & great authentic show, allthough the voice isn't technically perfect, but this is not important. Thank God for true soul moving music like this !!! :)))
Jeffcher10, Thank you for posting this, it has the best audio of all the different versions of this awe - inspiring performance. No other artists can compare with The Miracles when it comes to this song (and soooo many others as well!). Kudos on your excellent taste in music, and please accept my appreciation.👍😈
Notice how they are dressed compared to how the performers of today dress. Back then it didn't matter what kind of music you did you still dressed the part.
I love how raw this is, you can hear every flaw, imperfections are really the beauty in music. Shows how unique everyone’s voice is different
I didn't notice any flaws :)
only them can sing it the right way, no imperfection this is the right way soul and blues should be sing, for me when i listen to a cover of this song with no soul in it, thats really imperfection hahaha
@@organizedloveleadstopeace Like who?
The wanderers, introduced me to smokey and the miracles, legends
Wow. Smokey outlived the Miracles. Rest in Paradise guys. Smokey voice is incredible 🎶 🎶
All except his first wife Claudette Robinson. She's still around.
@gregnormal5101 believe it or not....two B sides are my favorite: Whatever makes you happy , and a folk in the road.
My dad listened to Smokey Robinson so much I could not bear it. Now, I appreciate what a GENIUS he is. This is my favorite song of Smokey+The Miracles.
wish my dad did too but no, had to discover him on my own :(
1:37 They took me out! 😲I wasn't expecting that.👀 🤣They dropped it all the way low!👏👏🙌Yaaas Smokey!
No autotune.. no other crap like these days but only voices from the heart 👍👍👍
Dang they took complete control of the audience
Bobby Rodgers was hella smooth on his feet for a big man..and the choreography with him..Ronald and Pete was tight.
Love this song !! RIP My Husband ! U r gone 11 years now and YOU Really Got a hold on me..
Hello Teresa Sanders. How are you doing?
His voice was so unique
If there's a better video of live music than this, in any genre, then I have yet to see it, in 40+ years. I mean good lord Smokey ( and Miracles ) !!!

a beautiful memory ❤
Whoa- Wiping water out my eyes at this comment, and I'm not slicing onions, hun.
❤
what a freaking show!!!the dance the singing everything played in perfection! you can feel the crowd's energy by far what a tune.
love this rough live version better than the slick recording which is great, but hearing them live brings something else to the table.
Surely what this brings is the raw passion of the tunes mssg.
Seeing a live video gives so much more life to this song for me, always been one of my favorites but this really leaves a guy even more speechless than the audio itself does.
Sing it Smokey!!! Love this shit.
Me too.

The entire show was groundbreaking for its time

In 4th grade I presented this and I passed the Music Presentation. I can see why, I used historical footage of Great Singing
This is awesome, damn I was born about twenty years too late
same :(
i love bobby rogers’ voice & his glasses lol.
some bad ass dance moves. Smoky was bringin' it
Holy moly, this is amazing! I didn't think a live version could be better than the record but this is just off the wall.
When the live version is better than the record you know that's a real singer !!! and can Smokey sing !!!!!
Jayne Piscitelli don't neglect the backing band's arrangement! it was real talent in those days all around! this makes the record version sound dead.
@@ginasicina8964 Hello. How are you doing?
Smokey Robinson and the miracles are awesome
Smokey, The Miracles and Marv Tarplin. Killing it live as they say. Wouldn't it be great if all our singing "stars" could get up and do it really LIVE.
