I watched this after watching your last video on Wilson, because I couldn't help but notice that you really wanted people to watch it and although I havent played Half Life (I too now question my life choices), it was still a great vid that does indeed deserve more intention. I respect the work you put into these video's, it's really amazing and I'll definitely try out Half Life now.
Amazing video freddo. I never played HL series before ,but this video make me appreciate that franchise. Idk why the views in this video is low, you deserved more. Keep it up buddy. The IRL section is ok , not removing the video immersion.
Damn, this video is criminally underrated. The first time I've actually thought about a video and not just consumed its garbage and moved on in a long time. It's a nice break from the usual short attention span spam that we usually get.
As a gamedev myself, this video has opened my eyes a little on how a game should be made, however, there is still something i cant grasp yet, and that is the fact that its impossible to do something like this without a nothing charecter. If the player charecter has the slightest bit of personality and sense of desire, it is almost impossible to NOT have dialogue or push players into certain actions. For example, in the spiderman games, spiderman does not kill people, he has a certain way of thinking, and acts accordingly to that, so no matter how much the players want to "kill" villains or avoid situations or even be an A##hole to people, they cant, cuz if they could, it would ruin spiderman as a charecter in the story. I would love to hear your thoughts about implementing this level of immersion to story heavy games with player charecters that have a personality.
there's no right or wrong way to write a game, this is just one potential way to do so that valve has used to great success (including the portal games too.) it depends what the game actually is and whether it would benefit from having a silent protagonist or not
Fallout 4: "God damn, she dead. Where is the gameplay?" Half Life 2, Episode 2, only that one bit you showed in the video: "I'M GORDON FREEMAN! HE JUST LIKE ME, FR FR!"
I hate the fact that this video got less than 1,000 views, makes me cry because Funny Huggy Wuggy Scary Video Freddy Five Nights gets millions of views(by the way that isn't a real video)
Also, Half-Life (1) is not all just shooting people, it is really well broken up (most of the time) with puzzles and exploratoin. A video titled "Half Life's Varied Gameplay | Cascade" really well illustrates (technically wrong use of a word) that. The creator of that video also made a video on this exact topic. Half-Life 2 is not superior to Half-Life in every way, Half-Life has genuinely better grunt A.I. than Half-LIfe 2. Half-Life's will take cover, insult you, shoot you, squad combat, throw grenades...throw more grenades......then throw some grenades. While Half-Life 2's kind of just runs at you and throws grenades...still fun though. BUT GET MMOD IT IMPROVES HALF-LIFE 2 SO MUCH! "Tutorial lady" is also a main character in Half-Life: Decay. Her name is Gina Cross. Not just the dialogue, the voice actors, they are incredible. I especially love the voices of Breen, Father Grigori, and G-Man. (G-Man's voice is the greatest voice EVER) About the lack of cutscenes: the fact that you can miss stuff really shows that You are Gordon Freeman, Gordon a real person misses things, like you playing the game. Gordon is just a guy, why would he be able to slide and vault? He is a theoretical physicist, not a HECU marine. GRIGGS AND SHECKLEY! Amazing characters. I have replayed the Шахта Победы (Victory Mine) section atleast 7 times at this point, just so fun...also, your strategy in this video is not very optimal. Vortal Combat is the creme de la creme of songs. This video will kill your CTR (Cathode tube-ray). Watch Freeman's Mind...not related to anything, just watch it, it is very good.
A heads up-the algorithm hates you now for some reason. I'm not only talking about this video but your older ones as well. I was searching for one of your dst vids and it took ages to find because youtube wouldn't recommend me your channel

I think the real life segments are good, they can be quite good for pacing and mixing up the video.

HALF-LIFE! Played it recently, been playing All the mods and it severl times...sometimes a couple times each month.
Such as: Episode 2 I played thrice in the span of a month...the same month I beat it.
First time normal, second time with MMod, thrice for the Little Rocket Man achievement.
ALSO! MMod! Best Half-Life 2 Mod Ever. IIf you want just normal Half-Life 2 but BETTER!
Also, also, by "recently" I mean I started the first game in May of last year and I am still playing the games.
