One thing you didn't mention (though it may only work in bedrock), is that if you create a map in the overworld and then go to the nether the locator will turn red, and it actually shows your corresponding location in the overworld.
Really? That might be useful for planning portal locations.
It's an awesome thing.
Damn shame it's not in Java too.
It turns purple when you're in the End
This is a mind blowing idea. Thanks for sharing. Iâm gonna go mess around with this now
One thing I like to do, is if I'm filling out a very zoomed out map (1/8 or 1/16), I make the map, and then make a copy and stick the copy in a safe place like my base or an ender chest. That way if, while I'm out exploring and filling up the map, something... untoward... happens, I don't have to worry about losing all my hard work since, as you fill a map, all copies of it are updated as well. Especially nice if you're not using an elytra and are actually hoofing it to fill out the map (literally or figuratively). You never know when you might fall into a random stealth hole or run into a stray creeper or misjudge just how high that cliff actually was. I don't really play on multi-player, but I think it would also look rather nice to have a big wall of zoomed out maps in a central location where everyone else can track exploration progress in real-time.
thank you soo much for this - ive genuinely always had a fear of losing my main "starter map"
Cđ n
I make multiple copies. I have one public map wall in my realm and one map wall in my base, and a chest full of leftover maps. At both walls I have a cart table so anyone can take a map down, copy it real quick, then remount the map.
Love you for this
I appreciate you teaching me about MC without yelling. Iâm not 9 so I donât get a kick out of people yelling at video games for no reason.
you may not be 9 but youre a very immature "adult" bringing up your personal issues for no reason
@stevewoodyt: Shows appreciation for a video in a style he enjoys.
@kiromi079: Takes it personally for no reason and angrily types hate message
@@kiromi790lol. Ok.
@@itsvoidd5125yeah Iâm not sure what their point is.
@@kiromi790 definitely makes videos where heâs yelling at 9 year olds.đ
You could make a map with a *single* Paper by using the Cartography Table, then add the Compass to make it a Locator Map.
Cartography tables made making maps so much more efficient! Love being able to make maps when I might not have found a ton of sugar yet.
Yup, just figured this out too. Its awesome.
â@@Chell1919best thing to do is set up a sugarcane farm. Probably the easiest farm to set up in minecraft. I usually set up 8 rows of dirt, each separated by one row of water. Extend each row 8 blocks so you have a 8x8 grid. Plant enough sugarcane to fill up the grid. Once you've done that, you'll never run out of sugarcane.
@@timbrown1790 that's super inefficient
â@@GOAT_GOATERSONhow so? I have 15 x 15 rows of sugarcane, and never run out of emerald as i just trade papers for absolutely zero effort.
If this guy was a teacher at school, learning would be fun
so true
True. Minecraft Class
Ya!
@@MD5GamingHaha!
Haha!
You can also name your maps for further organization. I name them XZ respectively to the central map. For example, a map west of my base is called . The one to the north is called .=, and so on. So if i have a map called i would know exactly where it belongs
I do something similar. I name a location, like " Fish'n Farm(160, 63, - 580)0/4 and then create a "main" map off that. Sometimes I have to curtail my namings though
THE NUMBERS, MASON. WHAT DO THEY MEAN?!!
What language is that? Math?
well you could just name them north 1 east 2 etc. x-1 z0 kinda looks awful and confusing
I really like this idea! I never really pay attention to the Y coordinate, anyway, so knowing the X and Z would be very beneficially âš
You are not only very helpful to new players, but you seem to be more knowledgeable than most long time players as well. You have certainly helped even a veteran like me, much appreciated
I try my best to learn as much about the game as possible so that my videos apply to all players and so I'm really glad you find them useful as a veteran player!
bruh I m new player and all of his content is helpful for me to learn more about Minecraft
I'm a new player and his videos have been enormously helpful.
BRO I have been playing since 2013 yet I never knew âLocked Mapsâ exist!
Didn't know about the zoomed maps! That's SUPER helpful.
Yes, I've found a fully filled and zoomed out map to be great decoration also
Same!

@@Eyecraftmc Cool!
I couldn't get it to work
i really missed learning new things about this game and iâm so glad i could learn them from your channel! your tutorials are so clear and easy to followđ«
Glad you like them!
Good work man, keep it up. I personally love how you mentions different versions and not just Java, very helpful.
Your Welcome!
I agree âïž because I play on Bedrock edition on Xbox Series X
For our sin, breaking Godâs law, we are punished by burning in Hell for eternity, a place with no hope for our salvation. But God loved you, along with everyone else, so much and with all his heart that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, to this cursed world to be crucified on the cross. Now whosoever accepts Jesus Christ, Godâs Son, as their Lord and Savior and believes he rose from the dead the third day will be saved from eternal damnation in Hell and live in Heaven in paradise with him forever.
Many will choose to follow Satan as you are doing but he will soon reveal himself as a murderer and a liar as he was since the beginning and he will curse all his followers as he cursed God and all his followers will be cased into ever burning Hell. Repent of your sins and accept the Lord Jesus Christ or face Godâs righteous judgment.
@@william44011 Mine diamonds, play Minecraft. Mine diamonds, play Minecraft.
@@AttiMatter what reward will that have besides an earthly reward which will fade like a vapor?
I plan to do a LOT of exploring in my survival server, so perhaps a wall map made from fully zoomed out maps would be an interesting way to spend my winter break
Coming back to minecraft after a good half a decade +. All these videos are super helpful thankyou!
As someone who left minecraft for quite some time it's nice to have videos like this to help me remember stuff I forgot and teach me new things I didn't know were added or that were there already!
These are some of the most in-depth yet easy to digest guides I've come across. They explained the mechanics of the game very well and give in-game examples/uses of them. Great content, I watch casually even if I think I knew everything about the topic on hand because I still learn something every time
Nether maps are still pretty useful since banners work on nether maps and you can figure out which way is north even though the mark is spinning. Helps when you're nether travelling home the first time from a new spot and trying to find the portal
Eyecraftmc Never disappoints viewers with his videos, they're just very understandable. And makes people who watches it improve themselves playing minecraft like me, a new Minecraft player just started 1 month ago. TYSM i never regret subscribing you. â„ïžâ„ïž
EyecraftMinecraft Never does, I agree
100 percent correct
I just started playing a couple weeks ago. Glad i found this channel because it's been very helpful.
Normally yes, but I didn't understand how to make mega maps
I can't even explain how useful this video was. I seriously knew NOTHING about cartography table . Thnx again
I was looking for a way to visualize my Minecraft world in vanilla. This is legitimately perfect!
I have been WAITING for this guide and it's even better than I expected!
you have the best and in depth guides about all the mechanics of this game. so many channels have so much extra stuff thatâs not needed in their informative videos, so thanks for that :) theyâre also enjoyable to watch even if i know all the info already which is cool
A very well done guide. It'll be useful to revisit when it comes time to make the map wall.
Just logged out of my world after not understating cartography tables fully, and then I see this, amazing
Honestly? One of my favorite Minecraft videos of all time. Itâs such an unexplored part of content across many Minecraft youtubers. I see giant mega builds and literal Microsoft paint using red stone but I havenât seen a single cartography guide. Granted I never looked, and this happens to be posted since Iâm a subscriber, but still.
wow these guides are so detailed it's unbelievable
SOOOOOOOOOO much more informative than the last video I watched. Thank you.
Was literally just playing around with maps more yesterday. Perfect timing!
This was actually quite helpful, I never knew how the map making thing worked so I was never able to make big map art...
going to have a blast with this one now
These tutorials are really good for my worlds so keep up the good work! âș
Thank you so much Eye! I now see where I was making some mistakes, getting myself confused. I would love to make a mega map. Really wish banners worked on bedrock.
Something I've noticed, natural bee hives always face south, same as sunflowers always facing east. Just a fyi.
Once again, phenomenal information. The color coded map size grid was genious!
Thank you so much for explaining this in a nice chill manner â€
Iâve recently got into Minecraft, especially survival. I love your videos they are laid out very nicely. Youâve helped me a great deal with learning the basics & getting a sweet base set up! I thank you for all your hard work & such detailed explanationsđđ
How did you know I needed to know minecraft maps..
Your a genius

This is some quality guide here, thank you for taking the time to do this
Yeah i need more practice on how to do this. Thanks for the info!
No problem!
11:25 The glow item frames don't really emit light, just appear to be brighter, so even with a glow item frame, it will still be a good idea to make sure the places with the map is bright enough to avoid dealing with all hostile mobs
Oh hell yeah,i need this. Iâve been having the map on my right hand most of the play instead of other useful things like a shield for to explore said maps
Thank you, this is useful!
Cool, Iâm still working on my 5x5 zoom level 4 map. I really want to wait for a bit to see what the next update will be, to see what will be added and if I want that in my map area.
Very comprehensive!! Thank you!
Really glad your channel is growing so fast. You deserve it
Perfect timing on this video. Thanks for sharing.
Iâve recommended this video a few times now and Iâm so happy to see it here
Wow thank you so much for this guide.
Charting was always a favorite thing to do on a new world, but coming back to the game years later with the updates confused me heavily.
Love you dude keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
This was so so useful! Especially the mega map part. Now my little map will look epic and big
â€ïžđ„đđ THIS is the tutorial weâve been waiting for. â€ïžđđ
Thank you. đđ
What I've been doing on bedrock (survival) is filling out maps of the world, using only fully expanded maps) filling out maps of the world, and naming them relative to the starting map (Home) as North, Far West, East by Southeast, etc. I haven't scouted any farther than two maps past the first one yet, but I'll use a similar naming system to keep them organized. Since I want to keep using this same world forever, and I'm just trying to unwind with my kid, I have cheats on to keep our inventory, and I've started a spreadsheet listing the coordinates of our bases and other interesting locations for us to teleport to quickly, and occasionally change the time of day or weather as needed. This relaxed approach has made things so much more enjoyable! One of the most helpful habits I've picked up is holding my current map in my hand where you can see my position on it (and I always have the game set to show coordinates), and taking a screenshot of something for quick reference later, that way I can tp back when I'm ready, and I can tell what direction I was looking, too.
How convenient, I was about to ask, if you could do a Mapping Guide! :D Great Video, informative as always! đ
Perfect timing!
Been waiting for this video for a long timeeeeee â€ïž
Thank you for this. The cartography table for me is one of the game mechanics i dont know how to use.
I must say that map making is one of the coolest things that you can do in Minecraft! No matter the scale really, but once you start getting a lot of maps together and you visualize your surroundings from different perspective is so satisfying! I personally do those max zoomed maps and fill the "you are here" billboard map with like 5x5 with those zoomed maps, marking all points of interest with banners along the way. It's a lot of work but definitely worth it to see the results!
Very interesting, detailed and straight forward, thanks for doing such videos!
Thank you for this tutorial for mega map It was really help full
Yet another great video. Truly glad I found your page. Iâm always impressed. Thanks for the help on this one. This is yet another thing I had yet to learn and try. And now it seems ridiculously easy

thank you soo much for this video
Also on Bedrock you can use an Empty Map to copy a Locator Map and get 2 Locator Maps, saving the resources you would use for additional compasses.
The quality and information is always top notch đ
