    I've said it before and I'll say it again, watching Tim teach should be required viewing for music education majors. The explanation and demonstration skills remind me of one of the great guitar educators - Howard Roberts.

    That flamey neck and those Charlie Christian pickups, what a beauty. She rings like a bell. Sweet playing too.

    Viva Barry Harris! Monk! Bird! And all the progenitors who illuminated this gem through the language of jazz.

    Yes! Things recently "clicked " for me after decades of trying to wrap my mind around how to realy play the guitar, it is all about movement

    Just your mention of the dim chord being a half step below the root, was an epiphany to me. Thanks, that was a wonderful take away from this lesson. I will look up your books. All the best, Thor!

    Such a lovely sounding passage on 1:57! I stumbled upon your channel not so long ago and I really like your method, Tim. It almost feels like you're taking inspiration in Zen philosophy. No rushing, keeping things simple, everything is enough. And, most importantly, enjoying the process. While jazz players tend to overcomplicate things to the point where this becomes a competitive sport you present much more joyous and rewarding approach.

    Awesome lesson, as always. I love that guitar - it sounds "brighter" than usual - but those Lollar Christians (I think that's what they are) always sound great! I asked Santa to bring me both of your books. Looking forward to checking them out!

    This C# diminished and Dm has very east-european sad songs vibes :)

    Some of Tim’s chord phrase examples in his book are played beyond the 14th fret, so if you have a traditional jazz box where the neck is attached at the 14th fret, you may not be able to play them.

      @TimLerchGuitar  Před 6 měsíci +1

      But most of them aren’t :, ) the other thing to keep in mind is that if you really want to study the material in the book you should transpose your favorite passages into many other keys so as to get the most out of the things you learn.
