Is this Damien's greatest singing performance?
Judge for yourself: pls look at Damian, singing on the 1st "Star One" live show. (When his pro job was singing in a musical. So he had his hair cut short.) His first time with Arjen, I think. My first album to buy, to listen to the work of Arjen.
Live on earth. A "must have" album!
I liked the Universe performance of "And the druids turned to stone" also. But yeah this is a stunning and maybe even better version than the album version
I think the Guilt Machine, is part of the brain that keeps going back to these thoughts of guilt and shame. It is about depression and how impossible it seems to move past these thoughts - you may as well drain the ocean, or burn out the stars. Damian has dealt with Depression, as has Arjen, they know what these feeling are about. Arjen's partner Lori, wrote the lyrics.
Is this Damiens best performance? Tough one that, he's always great. His own work is really good as well, very emotional at times, its hard not to cry from either the emotion of the song or just his power and fantastic performance.
I was there first row, best day of my life, Damian is an amazing singer, im really looking forward for the next gig this September.
To be precise, this is not an Ayreon song, but from the album "On This Perfect Day", which is the debut album by Arjen Anthony Lucassen's side project "Guilt Machine", released in August 2009.
Damian Wilson is one of the few Brits involved in many of Arjen's projects. He is in the early Star One concert in 2003 with Floor and Irene Jansen as the only female singers and it's great as Arjen sings and plays guitar.
This is actually a band called Guilt Machine that Arjen put together.
See that audience on the front rows... They are fully in it.
From the 5:00 mark, if you liked that, early Threshold sounds just like that and Damien is in lead vocals, first album t is Wounded Land. A Must Listen.

For me, lyrically Guilt Machine is Arjen's best work ("Perfection?" is my favorite... I wish one day you could hear it)
Agreed, the Guilt Machine album is the one of Arjen’s that I play the most. Lori’s lyrics and lead guitar are great.

Maybe listen to "Nostalgia" by Stream of passion. A project, Arjen started with Marcella. She sings in spanish there. While I don't understand the words: a song of beauty!
Apparently Damien Wilson was supposed to be the guy who replaced Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden. But for some unfathomable reason Steve Harris chose the far inferior Blaze Bailey the day before it was to be announced.
I don´t think there is such thing as greatest singing perfomance because each song is different. I love his Druids turn to stone singing in Ayreon too, maybe even more than this but is it greatest? I haven´t seen greatest yet and I won´t .

Although you probably don't care about my comments, I encourage ALL to CEASE uploading & commenting (except re-posting this) UNTIL CZcams restores "channel name" to comments on videos.
The level of confusion with arbitrarily assigned "handles" that are not 'coherent/compatible' across platforms is a new level of authoritative-dominion causing confusion among content-creators & 'users' of various platforms.
Big-Tech never considers the consequences of their arbitrary actions.

Restore "channel name" to all comments. Channel 'owners' retain ability to choose to change their "channel name" to include "@" and other alterations voluntarily.
I would not put this on a channel if I didn't value the channel's content & my ability to comment.
The alternative to taking-a-stand is to passively submit to Big-Tech's arbitrary dominion over even YOUR OWN WAY of identifying yourself on internet.
