Depression and over medication

  • There are several strategies, other than medication than can help a person when they are depressed. In this video we consider the problem of depression, which is a real illness. It is also noted that antidepressants can be a first and only resort. There is an argument that antidepressants are overprescribed. Whether they are prescribed or not other strategies should also be
considered. These include assessment of nutritional deficiency, such of lack of vitamin D. A good diet with plenty of fibre to promote the microbiome. Getting exercise and promoting good quality sleep and improving social interactions.

The most significant reason I am depressed is that I see criminals in positions of power go unpunished while I am spending more and more money to cover basic needs. Is it a sickness or a reasonable response to lawlessness and living a life surrounded by overwhelming network of lies?

I nearly lost my son because of the wrong medication. A new pharmaceutical got on the market in 2013 Xeplion from Canadá. It crushed all my sons muscles. I had to demand the hospital. They didnt allow me to visit my son during Christmas 2015 while he was in the psychiatry. Instead, the head of departament tried to close me off there to. I escaped in the last minute. Gathered myself and demanded him and I won. My son has been released and the medication has been cancelled by another hospital because of the severe side effects it had. He could not control any of his muscles. My son himself told me later that I was right, he should never have been gone to a psychologist cause this send him to a psychiatrist where his calvary started. I lost my business, my job, had to move back to our home country 3000 km away, but I did not lose my son 😛 Do not believe what a doctor tells you, just because he or she owns this title. I saw tons of psychiatrists when I went through a few years of depression. None of them ever did a blood test or any brain imaging to find out what the problem was.
They just prescribe drugs immediately. And when one doesn't work they add another. Then another. Always looking for that elusive "right combo for you"...
After years of their trial and error I never did find the right combo. The antidepressants messed up my endocrine system and gave me low testosterone.
This caused numerous other health problems and worse depression.
My lesson: Doctors don't know how to cure depression. They can certainly make it worse though.

Have you had any vitamin tests since then? I was exactly like you, but managed to fix my endocrine system through diet, lifestyle, and exercise. I've been "depressed" for 20 years. Turns out I was dealing with malnutrition/deficiencies.
In the last year I've gone through a second puberty, as much as you can as an adult. Really, it's just my testosterone returning to a normal level after being suppressed since my teens. My voice is deeper, I gained tons of facial hair, I was horny every other day, and was gaining muscle so fast that guys at the gym think I'm on something.
I did all of it by following a ketogenic diet, overloading with eggs, supplementing with zinc, magnesium, boron, vit d, vit c. Also I quit drinking, and all processed foods.
Since xmas I fell off the bandwagon and have felt my test plummet again.

There are protocols for every situation in the Healthcare industry. No MD is an individual, who makes his own mind. We noticed that, about Covid !!!!!! It is indeed an industry ! Pharma is tightly connected to everything. Meds never heal or cure, but they perhaps, especially in psychiatry, lessen aggressive reactions. It is ironic to hear the informed consent about a med for depression ; there is always the possibility of death ! Well !!! Hello ! we are trying to avoid that ! not make it come faster..Pharma uses subliminal commercials to promote new drugs. They disclose everything while the camera focusses on attractive, happy people, having fun, saying, they are taking the stuff ! BINGO ! the masses will ask their MD"s for that prescription, who will be happy to write it, as he could be getting new office furniture for doing so.......Wink....wink........

I've have severe OCD, Anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. I've been on SSRIs and Benzos since I was 13 (now 37). Currently on 200mg zoloft and .5mg of Klonopin. Working to get off of Klonopin. I cycle 3 to 4 days a week and do upper body work the other days. That helps dramatically. Getting 8 hours of sleep a night. Taking vitamin D. Also have pernicious anemia so I've been in B12 for 2 years now.
I believe medications has helped me and likely saved my life. That said, many people do not need these medications. So many people get zero exercise, terrible sleep, over stressed, bad diets etc.

By 2014, enough issues around anti-d drugs were creeping into the fringes of the mainstream, that my long-held alt health beliefs in general, began to make sense to them. Many reasons: a) ketogenesis is neuroprotective, b) elimination of plant-toxins (e.g. gluten, oxalates), c) meat and animal food contain many neuroprotective substances: fat-soluable vitamins like B12, the right version of omega3's (DHA), complete and bioavailable protein, substances like: taurine, carnitine, carnosine, choline which have been again shown to be neuroprotective.

Too often I have people who believe they have a “chemical imbalance” which we know there is no scientific validity.
A lot of people in my experience become victim to the drugs and lose faith in their ability to help themselves.
I do believe in some circumstances medication is absolutely necessary to help them calm down enough to be able to learn and implement new skills.
The misinformation about where serotonin is created is harmful and people often have no idea how these drugs work (if/when) they work.
I think we should be promoting proper nutrition and exercise along with talk therapy.
The narrative there is something wrong with us and we can’t help ourselves with or without support continues to have disheartening impacts on humanity.
Again, there are times and situations that warrant treatment that includes medication but we are way over prescribing.

From what I think I have learned leaky gut is also responsible for many auto immune diseases and goes back to over processed foods/ingredients

To be depressed in this day and age is not an illness. Mental illness is being happy in this sick society.

Paxil ruined my nervous system. I was prescribed it for Long Covid /CFS. When I got off, I had a cascade of new symptoms, physical, emotional and mental. SSRI definitely hit the ANS.

@@sammywhite9906 I agreed to take it, as I was desperate. I couldn't eat because of everyday nausea, and GI doctor prescribed Paxil. Because endoscopy and tests showed nothing, so it was decided that "it's just in my head". But I decided to take it, as I had no other treatments or choices. In the long run, it made me worse. I took it for five months.

@@AlbaLynxQueen Oh bless you, sorry to hear tha, doctors & nurses have been bein quite cruel for a while now, since before plandemic even. That's an antidepressant, same as seroxat. I think seroxat was possibly found to be renowned for causin serious adverseEffects. I don't understand why they gave you tha, was you actually depressed!? I am under the impression you were/are in physical pain tha needs a diagnosis. Am I under the wrong impression? Do you mind me askin what was the endoscopy for? What symptoms you got? You don't have to say if you don't want to. Bu what I will say is it's not in your head & if you're in pain you're in pain. Did a doctor actually say it's jus in your head? So rude if they did. Was the everyday nausea down to stress?

@@sammywhite9906 I had an infection in July 2021. Covid test was negative. Then only 3 days after I recovered, I hurried to do a Pfizer vaccine. In my country it was becoming available only then. After the first dose I started to have constant low grade fever, that lasted for months, fatigue, complete loss of appetite with nausea, no concentration. I lost my ability to work and function. After six months of appointments, all serious and major diseases were ruled out. At that point I had health anxiety because of the illness. No depression. That's when a GI doctor prescribed Paxil, an SSRI. After 3 months I started to have some appetite and put on weight. No change in fatigue and fevers. It helped with the anxiety too, I was still very sick but didn't care as much. After going off (because of libido and weight problems), all of my symptoms came back and I had a myriad of new ones. Now I suffer from debilitating fatigue (hard to get up), unstable body temperature, nausea, memory loss, brain fog, constant tension and restlessness, no focus to read or watch movies more than 15 min, dizziness, bouts of derealization and feeling that I live in a constant drunk haze, etc.
